  1. Personally... I think this car looks sweeeet.
  2. I'm curious what features/attributes you're finding you like better in Vista than Win7?
  3. Actually, I've heard a report of it running on a Pentium 2 system. I have it on my desktop, and am about ready to put it on my laptop that currently has Vista. I would be doing one of these preorders, but I'd kinda rather have a full version instead of the upgrade. I might have to check into whether I could just slipstream a disk using my vista and/or XP disk plus the upgrade disk, so I'm not having to mess with 2 disks for an install. But yeah, so far Win7 rocks. Only downside I have found is that HP never made a vista driver for my laserjet printer, and thus it (so far) refuses to work with Win7. I may still find a way to rig it... I've only barely scratched the surface of conversations online about how to make it work.
  4. Seems like I read something along the lines of their underground nuke test was a giant flop?
  5. Looks quite good.
  6. Agreed, they may idle it, and I suppose I could see them selling it if they could get the right price, but it won't just be shut down permanently. Far too nice of a factory.
  7. Haven't heard anything about the lexus self-park feature that was getting bragged up a while back. They still have it and no one's talking about it anymore, or did it have issues and they quietly dropped it?
  8. Another thing to consider is that there are a lot of old people that don't want old people cars. Look at Scion's buyers. They aimed for youth, they got old folks. Buick aiming for a younger audience doesn't mean they're going to run off the existing clients. It may actually appeal to most of their existing clients more than their old products, especially if they maintain some basics like comfort, quietness, and quality. Another thing to consider is that a brand letting it's client base get too old can be death for the brand. The older the average buyer gets, the more that becomes the image of the brand, which makes it harder still to get younger buyers, and eventually all the buyers simply die off. It's not like Buick is aiming for first-time buyers with their new product. More like young professionals. The cars aren't becoming 16k cheapomobiles afterall.
  9. A sexy Buick (brand) would be very nice.
  10. Blah. If they're going to rename it, it'd better be more catchy than that, as well as not remind people of American Motors and an old Gremlin. I think it might be a good idea to give the GM logo a full overhaul, though...
  11. I was under the impression they were only killing the Cobalt SS Sedan and the HHR SS Panel...
  12. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Kia Soul With a restyle it could be an ok looking vehicle for the segment I guess. The thing that made me really roll my eyes at it are the light rings around the front speakers that flash with the music. Seemed like a gimmick straight from the cheapest of walmart off-brands. Sad thing is, it'll probably result in sales.
  13. The photo looks better than the render IMO. I think the render makes it look stretched, and disproportionate.
  14. I haven't heard any suggestions I'd say yes to, so so far my vote is to leave it the same.
  15. You COMPLETELY missed my point. The cars aren't directly comparable. it's not like you're paying an extra $10-15k for better fuel economy. Sure there are going to be people that don't want or need, or can't afford the BMW. But that doesn't mean that the people that can afford the BMW aren't going to get more car in more areas than just fuel economy. Worth it or not is up to the buyer, just like someone thinking about a burger vs steak. It's not burger vs burger with cheese.
  16. You can't just compare the prices and say "the BMW loses because it costs more." That's like comparing fat content between a hamburger and steak and saying the hamburger wins because it costs less. Nevermind that the steak has less fat AND IT'S A STEAK.
  17. Did you know the holes don't help anything? http://www.teamscr.com/motorsports/tech-ar...oor-rotors.html Still, good looking setup.
  18. Awesome pics. It's funny to think that the stuff we are doing in space now is the modern equivalent of paddling around off a shoreline in a canoe a few thousand years ago. The moon landing like "look, I reached this island that we could see from the shore!" I'm sure there were people then rolling their eyes at the wasted resources, as that guy in the canoe could've been hunting or gathering instead of wasting his time playing in the water. There's nothing important out there anyway...
  19. How are we defining quality? IMO, *most* GM vehicles have been just as good if not better in quality in many areas than most or all of their competition for a while now. Take a look around at the other manufactures, and you'll see that GM isn't the only company with some turds here & there in the last 10 years.
  20. Not sure if it is accurate, but I've heard that the process for putting a person to death in our justice system actually costs more than locking them up for life. I support museums such as this one. The cost to the taxpayer is merely pennies a person, I'm sure. There are much more questionable gov't programs that are much more deserving of shutdown.
  21. I find it funny that people hate on Hummer so much, nevermind the fact that it MADE MONEY for GM. IMO, that puts it above some of the other brands in this time frame. IMO, they should have set up hummer to be more easily disposed of when the SUV craze passed, so they'd make the money without the troublesome cleanup.
  22. [quote name='Sixty8panther' date='Jun 9 2009, 10:03 PM' post='5IF there is no movement of the plane as relative to the conveyor belt & ground, and therefore the air-speed remains at ZERO, the place can NOT fly. There. Right there is where you miss the point. You are assuming the conveyor is able to keep the plane at a speed of zero relative to the ground. And that assumption is wrong. All the conveyor can do (friction aside because it's a hypothetical question) is make the free-spinning wheels spin faster. The speed at which the wheels spin has nothing to do with the speed of the airplane since the wheels do not propel the airplane.
  23. I like the yellow outline on the 2nd one. What about adding that to the first one, and tweeking the "mill city" text? I could see using both of them for different purposes, but probably the top one primarily.
  24. You guys don't know where the cars will come from yet. All that exists right now is rumor, rumor, rumor. If the deal with GM for the Aura, Vue, and Outlook proves profitable for GM, perhaps GM will work to continue to supply at least some cars for a longer duration than just a couple years. Of course, it may also be possible that GM won't be able to supply cars inexpensively enough to be competitive against foreign automakers. And technically, Penske IS acquiring a manufacturing facility with the purchase - the Saturn parts plant. While they may not be able to make cars, I wonder if there may be interesting ways to leverage the use of that parts plant, or if it will just be used to keep supply parts for past/current models until the federally required timeframe passes.
  25. That's the first car that came to my mind, though I would be tormented by owning one. On one hand, I would want to drive it ALL THE TIME. On the other hand, that would be a stupid thing to do. lol
