  1. ...so that's 3 chinese automotive companies trying to come here now. I guess it's likely that at least one of them will pull it off.
  2. With the next gen Saturn Vue being based on an Opel (I forget the name of it), and with Saturn having the Greenline version, would Opel potentially get their own version of the Greenline? I assume the hybrids this article is referring to would be full hybrids, but still, I would think with the cost of fuel, even a mild hybrid setup like the Greenline would be valuable in Europe.
  3. A) it's not GM that's doing it - it's aftermarket - so GM isn't "f-ing around". Would the same money spent on a 'vette get a better performing car? probably. You can't argue that people are buying them, though. It's obviously not for you, or many people. I also fail to see how a Mallet Solstice/Sky fails to be a "real car"...
  4. ...definition...of...rice. Ok, so there are worse things, but it's still rice.
  5. I see no point in buying a NEW economy car to SAVE MONEY. If you want to save money, buy used. Now if you have other motive to buy a small economy car, then that's another thing.
  6. +1 neat, but tacky (especially the handwritten notes).
  7. If you can afford a Mallet Solstice/Sky, you can afford to have a shop paint the trim any color you want...
  8. may not be fuel cells yet, but it encourages a little infrastructure.
  9. you missed the important words "to put it in".
  10. someone once shared this piece of wisdom with me: "usually, the cheapest car to own is the one you already have." You have to consider that if you buy a new-to-you used car, there is the cost of getting it up to date on maintenance. Also, if it's new enough (or you buy a brand new car), you'll need full insurance coverage, where I'm sure you're not bothering with that on the Cavi. Depending on what the "new" car is, insurance might be more anyway (sporty cars, etc). Plus there's the cost of buying, plating, etc. Not meaning to discourage you, but just a list of some things that people sometimes overlook when they get the "new car bug". There are certainly good reasons to get something "new". When the tranny locked up on my last car (a '90 Mercury Grand Marquis), I started looking at getting something different. My parents decided to fix the Grand Marquis, even if it was to sell it. I found my Saturn, and calculated that it could potentially pay for itself in fuel savings in 5-6 years. (15 mpg vs. 30-40 mpg). Plus it's more reliable.
  11. I'd be suprised if Saturn gets another convertible other than the Sky for a while.
  12. would never meet government specs based on the pictures (or should I say renderings) I've seen...

    GMC

might be ok if they were starting from somewhere other than where there at, but at this point, GM would be silly to take GMC away from consumers. I recall Lutz saying that the average customer who buys a GMC truck has more money than the average customer who buys an Escalade! GMC is in the pockets of rich people, and GM would be silly to pull their hand out.
  14. It was earlier than the late '90s - I've seen early '90s Grand Prix with 'em.
  15. needs a sexy 3dr hatch version. Car looks ok, but is overpriced.
  16. ...read they are stopping production of the PT along with the Neon. True? I'd expect another PT if it's true... *shrug* <not a D-Chrysler guy.
  17. They probably won't bother, since they'll almost definately replace it within the next few years.
  18. I dont' think I've ever seen one like that. RivieraRanch is right, though, that thing's gonna need a mechanical overhaul from not being run.
  19. Looks pretty good. Darn competition for the Aura...
  20. I sat in a fit at the Chicago Auto Show. I wasn't paying too close attention to it, since I dont' really have much interest in Hondas, but it overall struck me as just ok for what it is. No strong positive or negative feelings.
  21. it's not totally isolated. The Saturn pricing policy doesn't prevent them from doing it, either. It's a "no haggle" policy, not a "the dealer has to charge MSRP" policy. Still, it feels like an abomination of Saturn culture... Some dealers are being good & not jacking up the prices, though.
  22. *clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap, clap* Didn't realize they were revealing a pre-production next gen Vue, and the Sky RL. I just thought it'd be the production Aura & Outlook. Making me look forward to it that much more (even if we have already seen the Sky RL with a lightning bolt on it).
  23. +1, this is too good...
  24. would really stink to have something malfunction & cause hydrolock.
  25. lol - it's all good.
