  1. ...maybe... If it totally goes, you'll have major window fog issues, and a stronger smell.
  2. I think the current GM radios look pretty good, especially when you look at most older stock radios...
  3. This is gonna be a great product.
  4. This is very good. Some Saturn dealers really ticked off their customers when some decided to tack on an extra $5,000 or whatnot. My local dealership did it, and now they have a couple more unclaimed Skys coming, because the buyers backed out. Wouldn't suprise me if it was enough to lose some customers for good. Tacking on extra is an abomination to the Saturn culture.
  5. Bring it! This would be great for those I know of who complain about the 400 lb gain when Saturn replaced the S-Series with the Ion. Do we know a weight for this new Corsa?
  6. I had a '92 Regal with a color logo.
  7. so, you're graduating from high school, have a GTO, and are getting a laptop for college? Sounds like you just need to be really freaking thankful for what you already have.
  8. +1 on the LeSabre. Comfortable, classy, reliable car.
  9. Went through graduation on friday night. Finally done with 20 years of school, and have my masters to show for it.
  10. So one of those stupid electronic manuals that aren't a manual at all. I like large cars, and I like manuals. I could see only putting a manual in an SS version, though...
  11. ...any lean manufacturing guru will tell you that testing/inspection means you can't/don't trust your manufacturing processes... Not that it's easy to refine automobile manufacturing processes to the point of no testing/inspection, but it's really nothing to brag about. It's a way to catch MISTAKES, and adds unnecessary cost if the process is good, or saves cost (and dissatisfied customers) if the process causes mistakes.
  12. lol - the only engine in the S-Series is the 1.9L Saturn engine (in SOHC and DOHC forms). It was designed for the S-Series, and has never been in any other factory car. There are remarkable similarities between the late 1.9L heads and the Ecotec head, though...
  13. none of the above...
  14. Last I knew, both had 5-star crash test ratings. Pesonally, I'd prefer the Cobalt for looks and interior, but the Ion for the polymer panels and Saturn experience. Of course, the dealer experience varies from dealer to dealer some with Saturn, as well as Chevy, so that advantage could even go to Chevy depending on your particular local dealers. Both are solid cars and good choices. Personally, I voted Ion.
  15. They won't kill Spring Hill, they'll just build whatever the heck they want there.
  16. Not crazy about the price jump, or them being imported. Also, if the engines are going to be the euro engines, it's an added level of complexity to maintenance, since it introduces new, low-volume engines to the market. I'm sure mechanics hate such odd-balls, and it's going to potentially require going to the dealer for repairs. I assume engine parts would have to be imported, increasing parts costs. That aside, I think the cars are hot. I hope this 40K is just GM putting their toe in the water and/or filling in until they can produce them in the U.S. Also, if I recall correctly, there was talk of the Astra being redesigned in 2-3 years - perhaps they are planning the next Astra to be more "global" and intending to prepare to start US production with the next generation instead of tooling a plant for such a short duration.
  17. There is an upgraded suspension for the Ion that comes with the 2.4L engine. I probably should test drive a Cobalt to compare, the Ion suspension was good, but not perfect. Coming out of a curve on an interstate off-ramp, there was a slight floaty feel to the suspension. That feel wasn't there with the 2.4L. I'm probably overly defensive of the Ion, but I know it's a good, solid A-to-B car, and not the total pile of crap that many of you make it out to be. Styling is pretty bland, especially on the sedan. The interior could be better. Still, it's a great drivetrain, solid (though not perfect) suspension, the newer seats are comfortable (I haven't tried the older ones), and there are so many other great qualities to the car. It's far from a pile of crap. And comparing the Cobalt to a first year Ion just isn't fair - the Cobalt benefited from the development that took place in the Ion, and the current Ions are much better than the first couple years' models.
  18. I like the idea of a motorcycle-like vehicle with a cabin to make it practical year-round. Safety is the only concern I can really think of - if an area could be regulated to have vehicles of only a certain size (excluding semi's and large trucks, etc), it would be safer. Then again, motorcycles are allowed on the road with everyone else. It's an interesting contradiction - cars are required to have airbags, all kinds of impact protection measures, etc, etc. Then there's motorcycles where there is relatively little protection. Motorcycles require a special license, thoughk, right? What if these vehicles could be classified as motorcycles, or have their own classification? Would they be able to be used on regular roads? (or are they already?)
  19. Does it matter? The only difference is the back door and styling. I've driven one right after the other, and the only way I knew which one I was driving was by the black interior and different angle on the windshield.
  20. I saw that commercial yesterday... and wondered why anyone would design robots for apparently the sole purpose of fondling a car...
  21. Maybe better insulation for winter in colder climates? I'm not a convertible guy, and don't know how well a modern soft top holds in heat, but I've always figured they probably don't hold it in as well... Maybe a safety difference?
  22. What are those features about a car that you just love? I'm not talking so much about "I love a car with a ton of horsepower" or "a car that gets a billion mpg", but the little things that just make you smile. The first one that comes to my mind is the gas cap door with a release inside the car. I also like map lights that are semi-shaded - the light does not have a direct path to your eyes, but more down at the seats, making them much nicer at night. So, what are your favorite features?
  23. So, a bunch of opinions, and a build quality comment. Sure the build quality isn't a residual opinion of earlier model years? The '06's I've been in seem quite good...
  24. In what way is it so terrible? I know the early models had some noises that developed, but what complaint do you have about the current one? (aside from the preference items like the center-mount gauges)

    Looking very nice.
