  1. I looked at CNet, and this is what they said: http://reviews.cnet.com/sedan/2011-buick-regal-cxl/4505-10865_7-34195348-2.html#ixzz1F1kOYcPA
  2. Apparently, neither the base or upgraded systems in the Regal have a subwoofer.
  3. I think shuttle technology can be handled by the private sector for the time being. Let them develop better efficiencies, and then NASA can pick the vehicle that is best suited to the job later on. Meanwhile, satellite technology is what is really driving exploration. We just recently discovered several new planets in the 'habitable zone' thanks to the Kepler satellite. Automated robots do the cheaper than humans, and can be manipulated almost as well.
  4. I think it's the other way around. I'm curious what source materials are being used to judge the system. If they're CD's, then the system is likely a bust. But if people are judging the sound system using 128kbps .AAC files that have been ripped, and encoded with a middling mp3 encoder, then it's not entirely fair. Plus, it may also depend on what the system is geared for, and the listeners preference; audio is pretty subjective. I'd wager the systems in the Cruze and Aveo are more 'boomy,' emphasizing bass, whereas the Harmon Kardon system in the Buick is better suited for music that relies on detail in the mid/high-range.

    Let's say

Because some people don't do trips like that. Some people have second vehicles that let them do that. Some people will take a bus. Other people will rent a car or camper for the trip. Your cons ≠ other people's cons. You're not in the target market for an electric car. Your price vs return ratio is not the same as another person's. Be happy that electric vehicles are becoming viable. They will be what saves the automobile from a pod-car future.

    Let's say

Well first of all, nobody really takes an electric car to Death Valley, because an electric car is constrained to the city. But for most people, that's entirely adequate, and they'd likely be smart enough not to take their car to Death Valley anyways. Secondly, preferring the feel of internal combustion is OK. It's just that some of us don't prioritize 'feeling.' It's all about preference. Porsche's CEO is probably just upset about the Fisker Karma which makes the already unremarkable Panamera look even less attractive.
  7. I don't see anything bad at all with this interior. I find it quite attractive, and I bet that if Olds had not pointed out those steering wheel buttons were GM, nobody would have been the wiser. Plus, you guys have to remember that a good chunk of this 100K price is for the powertrain. I'm sure Fisker could have splurged a lot more on the interior if they used a conventional engine. What would you rather have? A slightly jazzier door panel? Or one of the most high-tech powertrains ever?

    Let's say

Power my way is cheap, and I love bleeding edge technology. So if I were purchasing a new vehicle or motorcycle this year, it'd be electric.
  9. Aren't you the same guy who lambastes Cadillac for being priced too low compared to the German competition?
  10. That climate control app is pure gimmickry. There will be proper controls on the dash for anyone (including myself) who'd rather do it the old fashioned way.
  11. God, it's like C&G became drag race central all of a sudden. Has everyone moved to the Bonneville Salt Flats recently!? The transmission issues are not OK, and need to be remedied. But are you people seriously caring that much about 0 - 60's? This is a Buick Regal, not a Camaro, or Corvette.

  13. Those subjects I listed involved some of my more memorable teachers. But even then, electron sharing is just not that much fun; even the teacher will say it, but then say it's just one of those things that need to be done in order to advance to more interesting topics. So the onus is put back on the student to slog through it. Teachers can only do so much. In my Bio class a couple semesters back, our teacher was always quizzing us one on one with questions pertaining to the material, and keeping the topic as interesting as possible. It was a very good monologue, but that didn't stop the same students from using their iPhones all class. And those same students later bitched and moaned to him that they did poorly in their exams. Despite not paying attention, and not being around for study groups, they felt that showing up was somehow worthy of not just a passing grade, but a B. This topic is anecdotal anyways. I worked my butt off in school, but both my brothers decided not to care, despite being sent to a nice private school. I got the public treatment. They had excellent teachers, excellent extra-curricular activities, but totally neglected the whole 'work' aspect. They sucked, and came out with lousy averages, but they still believe that by just having gone to school, they're owed something. Realty's since kicked their ass.
  14. I dunno. Rational inequalities, cyclic quadrilaterals. Grammar, and punctuation. Various facets of chemistry, like calculations of the mole, or electron sharing and covalent bonding. I've yet to see a teacher make any of that stuff 'engaging,' but they shouldn't have to.
  15. While I agree that a teacher should try to make a class involved, at the end of the day, certain subjects just don't lend themselves to 'active, involved learning.' Plus, she's teaching high school. At a certain age, the onus is on the student to be busting their own ass. The motivator is to go to the post-secondary institution of their choosing, or work in the career of their choosing. She's 100% correct, at least from what I had seen in high school. I hope she is rehired by another school. At least she gives a damn. Her complaints are some of the reasons why instructors burn out, or just give up caring.

  18. The Accord Coupe has more exciting design than this. This is so stolid, and boring, as if Mercedes is not even trying.

I'd surmise that business is not of our concern at all, but exclusively lies with the Turks.
  21. I seriously doubt the BSoD's are being caused by the HD being full. Low disk space will create issues, like potential page file/virtual memory problems, but I've never seen a bluescreen from low virtual memory. Often, BSoD's are due to the CPU or Memory. The first thing I would do is run MemTest. It's a free program that can boot using a USB stick, and scans your memory for errors. If there are problems with your memory, it's pretty simple to remedy. A memory stick may very well have just unseated itself, or the heat within the laptop caused a memory stick's solder to loosen and cut the circuit. Erratic behaviour and random reboots make me think it's either your CPU overheating, or the power supply is going haywire. If MemTest comes up clean, perhaps open up the laptop and get rid of all the dust. Maybe check to see if the thermal grease on the CPU is caked and dried, which means it doesn't transfer heat effectively.
  22. I'd be pretty insulted to be associated with DOHC.
