  1. These systems will operate both Android and Apple. Essentially, they run atop the infotainment system. Customers won't be required to pick compatibility at the dealership. Hyundai's already implemented this system and the reviews are quite good, considering it's still very new.   5. I am a bit surprised to hear this, but then perhaps GM just isn't showing their hand. A competitor to the Fiesta/Focus ST would be neat, though I'd hope they'd benchmark against VW's GTI, which is a little less frenetic and more accessible.
  6. The main parts source at Erik Buell Racing is not shipping (one item I've ordered is still in the 'processing' stage since mid-April). There could be a chance once (if) the company gets on its feet or is swallowed up that parts may be sold again. But that's an unknown. Alternatives such as American Sport Bike and TwinMotorcycles.nl exist, but YMMV. The situation isn't absolutely terrible, but I'd no longer recommend the bike given that obtaining parts for gremlins like clutch weep and stator issues has become harder yet. One would need to be an absolute enthusiast to overlook the issue, and not just someone who desires something a little out of the ordinary.
  7. Over a month has passed since Erik Buell Racing's receivership and nothing illuminating has surfaced. EBR's 1190RX and 1190SX are already being deeply discounted by retailers, with some going for ~9K. That's ~50% off MSRP. Lots of bike and power for the money, but the huge savings against the likes of Ducati, BMW and Aprilia comes at a cost of no warranty and limited service. 1190RX - $8,200 1190SX - $9,999
  8. The Bolt is an FWD, crossover'y commuter thing that appeals to couples and small families. The Model 3 will be a RWD, BMW 3-Series competitor tuned for handling and performance. Aside from being electric and having a steering wheel, they're totally different markets. Cross-shopping will be minimal, and people looking at the Bolt will be considering the likes of the i3, or Nissan Leaf as real competitors. You mean the same GM that can't move more than 2,000 ELR's in a year-and-a-half, despite mountains of incentives? The same GM whose 'hybrid' models have been routinely routed by automotive press and have received lukewarm sales? Tesla's done way more 'right's' than GM in this area. Remember, the Volt concept from 2007 was a response to the Tesla Roadster. Since that time, Tesla's bought NUMMI, has produced a wildly successful electric sedan, is about to debut a wildly successful electric crossover, established a continent-stretching charging station grid, and is constructing a massive battery factory the likes of which has never been seen before (and on American soil too). Oh, and the Model S is Consumer Reports' best vehicle they've ever tested. GM's been making vehicles for like, a century, and the only way the corporate reliability improved was probably by dumping Pontiac. So after all this time, GM has a Chevy that gets ~40 miles range on electric with a design that's overshadowed by KIA's, and a Cadillac that nobody wants. Sure stuff is on the horizon, and maybe by the time the ELR's 700+ day supply has whittled down, GM will have a good electric that people want. #justsayin
  9. There's ~25,000 Model X preorders, with each person forking over $5000 to be on the list. Just as the Cayenne is Porsche's most important vehicle, the Model X will be Tesla's. The Bolt doesn't compete against the Model 3. The only thing in common is that they're electric and have four wheels. That's like saying the Nissan Versa is a BMW 3 competitor.
  10. Fuel economy regulations have been around since Gerald Ford's time and CAFE standards impact an entire automaker's lineup. How can you be opposed to SUV's that exceed 20MPG? CAFE doesn't restrict you or anyone from buying any kind of vehicle. Why are you opposed to Americans getting better gas mileage?
  11. You mean the same types of subsidies that go towards CNG and Hydrogen vehicles? Also: those 'billions' aren't anything compared to the near $4.8 billion in subsidies that US oil companies receive yearly. Your country could've rebuilt $11 billion-worth of infrastructure instead of bailing out GM. The federal government's $2.4 billion electric's pledge goes to research, development and encourages local manufacturing. California's rebate program is around $110.2 million, and most other states/provinces count their rebate program pledges in the low million area. That's a drop in the bucket. Your government isn't forcing anyone to buy anything. They're making electric's more attractive, but you're still free to buy a Durango if you desire.

  14. C-Class is a curiosity, but I wouldn't be surprised that buyers are jumping ship to the A4, or even Mercedes' CLA. The CLA still gets the badge, and more stuff inside for a lower price.
  15. It only took me about a few days to 'ignore' the Note's dimensions, and my prior device was a small BlackBerry Curve. While I don't travel, my Note is my office and is always in my front jeans/suit pants pocket. Nearly everyone I've met who has a Note or iPhone 6 Plus has no regrets. Once you become used to a phablet, you realize that anything smaller is just inferior.
  16. I fiddled around with a Galaxy S6 Edge and while the concept is neat, the lack of real functionality doesn't warrant the extra $100. I also found it unpleasant to hold. But the regular S6 is a great return to form for Samsung. The camera is great and they've finally pared down the software. But LG's G4 could be a real contender too. Replacing my Note II is going to be tough.
  17. Nice theme! Works well in Chrome on PC/Android and on Safari, and I haven't had any issues come up since using it for nearly a week.
  18. The Model X hasn't debuted yet and won't until the end of the year. You'll need to ask a Model S owner for their thoughts on owning a Tesla. We've pre-ordered our Model X, but likely won't get it until Spring'ish 2016.

It's hard to imagine a third kick at the can at this point.
  21. Seriously?! You can't get away with that with Hyundai/KIA in town. An Optima EX has 10-way power seats and that MSRP's for under 25K. Apples to Oranges yes, but still.
  22. Maybe they've dusted off the UV8 that was supposed to replace the Northstar? I was under the impression it was fairly far along.
  23. $200 yearly to wait a half-minute every time you want to unlock a door? Seems very pricey, compared with something like OnStar, which offers apps for remote unlocks and more, plus the usual roadside assistance/crash-response stuff, for the same price.
  24. FIAT/Chrysler and VW pairing up would create a sh*t sandwich of monumental unreliability. It'd be the best thing ever.
  25. I'd imagine Audi and Acura would be worried if Alfa were to establish a presence here. My way, Audi tends to cater to people wanting an 'anti BMW,' either for perceived sportiness and/or lack of 'douchebag-factor.' Audi's been very aggressive in targeting younger people who are interested in modern design. Looking at the 159, it's far more emotive than anything Audi or Acura have put out even recently. If Alfa were to debut anything like the Giuletta at a near-lux price point, it could eat into A3 and ILX sales.
