I don't think anybody did describe it as such. Nor any other CUV in the segment

Despite the engine being turbo, it depends how it was programmed to run optimally by the manufacturer. Not sure what it says in your manual, but unless it says otherwise i would think premium gas will not give you any benefit. (I know CX-9 for example can run on regular but you lose about 25hp while keeping the torque level) In any case, it is a nice car, hope it serves you well. 8k miles, it is barely broken in.

Nice review. Great fuel economy, but are you using premium gas when regular is recommended or did I misunderstood something?

Which exactly performance CUV you are talking about that would have three rows and will cost around $40k?

I am not a huge fan of the big grill, but I think it looks overall pretty good considering how everything else in the segment looks. It is not sporty but what other 3 row CUV in the segment, maybe besides CX-9, can claim to be sporty? Nice interior, excellent V6 , great reliability. No wonder Toyota sells boatload of them. 5-year reliability data from true-delta

AM radio has been in the cars from 1930s and still available today, and some people do listen to it. While the quality is substantially subpar then FM it has way better reach then FM. Electric cars temporary ditched AM radio due to interference but I think will put it back for emergency purposes. FM radio is not going anywhere anytime soon despite streaming. I think Tesla 3 for some reason could not incorporate it right away and will add it later. It seems really weird to me though, Tesla needs to get its $h! together, a lot of companies soon will catch up with electrics. @ccap41 Apple ditching headphone jack and now Google I think is a horrible idea. It is not a "progress" taking away from a consumer a very useful option. Samsung was able to make new phone waterproof and to keep 3.5mm jack.

Yes, MT is so biased... Subaru despite having smaller engine was faster, handled better, stopped substantially shorter, handled off-road without any trouble, have better fuel economy and cheaper too. But yes, MT is biased. You guys are so full of it...

You do know Subaru Crosstrek has CVT too? Despite that Subarus excel off road. It is not the CVT, it is the AWD system.

It seems it is about nine hour drive from Cleveland to Montreal. That's about the same from us in NJ, not a difficult drive. We have been about four times in Montreal, love it. I would recommend going around end of June beginning of July when they have Jazz Festival (4th of July long weekend falls on it). A lot of stages with free concerts and street music. However, it is more then usually crowded.

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
ykX replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
EGO products use standard Lithium Ion batteries, nothing groundbreaking about them. I recommended the mower to my friend and he is pretty happy with it so far. Batteries need a completely new technology that currently exists, and a lot of universities and companies are working on it currently, some with pretty promising results. However, it will take time until they become commercially available. And I didn't say I love not having to pump my gas, just that I don't have to. Though, occasionally when there is a particularly nasty weather, I am happy I don't have to pump myself- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
ykX replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
@dfelt I live in NJ so our electric rates indeed higher but on the other hand I don't have to pump my own gas In any case I am all for electrical vehicles, especially considering I am an electrical engineer. However, current battery technology make them still not completely ready for widespread use IMO. I think in 5, maybe 10 years max we should see a real breakthrough in battery technology which will really make EVs take over.- 80 replies

Industry News: California Mulls Ban On Combustion Engines
ykX replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
@dfelt Actual electrical rates including taxes will be around $0.10 - $0.12 per kWh. Bolt on regular power outlet charges about 4 miles of range per one hour, so 10 hours of charge will only provide 40 miles of range, 12 hours - 48 miles. So realistically you need fast charger that provides 25 miles of range per one hour of charge time. That is an upfront expense that has to be included as well. Bolt is still will be cheaper then Focus but not by that much realistically.- 80 replies

Knowing price range would be helpful, but since you said CPO I am assuming the car will be only 2-3 years old. Jeep Renegade, low mileage CPO is around 20k Buick Encore - CPOs are plenty and even cheaper So is Chevy Trax Also, I know you said only US brands but Subaru Crosstrek is one to consider as well

@Cubical-aka-Moltar I put Michelin Premier LTX on my wife's MDX last fall, because it was the best rated all-season crossover/SUV tire. I thought even though it is expensive it was very well rated for winter conditions also so worth the extra expense. After a year with it I can tell you that it is excellent on dry road, quiet and handling is great, it is excellent in the rain, the wear after 16k miles seems to be pretty low. However, snow and ice performance was disappointing (we live in NJ). I think the bottom line is if you have a lot of snow or ice, you really need to use winter tires.

Genesis News: Genesis G70 is Korea's 3-Series Challenger

Not sure why @ccap41 you keep arguing. Today G-wagen is the status symbol, period. Nobody who buys it will be moving furniture or taking it off road. Every G-wagen owner I saw was either an assh@le with too much money or a trophy wife with and assh@le husband that has too much money, -

@dfelt I am a naturalized citizen, and when I decided to stay in this country and build here my family and my home, it came with understanding that I have to live and respect the laws and traditions of this country. It seems that some people mistakenly feel that they are entitled to freedom and respect, without giving it back. I am not much for words but I think you did a great thing standing up to that guy.

VW News: Volkswagen's Plan To Sell Their Older 'Clean Diesels'
ykX replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
I have consideried getting diesel for a daily driver few years back because I have long, mostly highway commute. But as of now most mid size sedans getting close to or better then 40mpg it is simply not worth it. I have calculated and even with diesel car getting about 50mpg on highway and regular about 35mpg, it is not worth it because of the price disparity between regular gas and diesel prices and higher initial price plus higher maintenance of diesel engines. Unfortunately or fortunately, I think diesel is dead. It is still probably useful for now for truck applications but I think regular consumers simply will not buy diesel anymore, they don't really have too, -
So now BMW copies Mazda? X7 Concept vs CX5

aeos Cummins Beats Tesla

Cool, but for pure city truck they should have gone with cab over engine design for greater maneuverability. Not yet, they plan to do it. This is pure electrical.- 6 replies

To me it makes sense, while the badge might offend some people, this new CUV might be just the right size for our family if it is about same size as Acadia. Traverse is too big and Equinox is too small.

@Stew How many times your brother had to fix his ATS so far? From your post it seems that it has been quite few times already. @Frisky Dingo I kind of agree. I know somebody who had Range Rover and got Land Rover Discovery (older one) as a loaner, he was so pissed off he let me took Land Rover off road and do with it pretty much as I please. It was fun
