Chevrolet News:2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Reveal
ykX replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chevrolet
in 2018 Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari each spent about 400 million dollars on their F1 teams, next one is 310 million. The rest are spending half of that or less. While Hamilton is a very talented driver, if you look at team standings it is about proportional to what they are spending (except McLaren, they just s@ck). I am sure if Toyota or GM decides to spend 500 million on F1 team they can beat MB. -
Mercedez Benz News Mercedes X-Class to be Xed Out
ykX replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
I was just rewatching Grand Tour Season 3 and there was an episode were they tested three European trucks, Ranger, VW and Mercedes Benz. So after they used the bed to carry some heavy stuff on each of them, MB rear bed sides got bent so badly they could not close the rear gate. Didn't happen in Ranger or Amarok. Basically after torturing all three of the trucks they said MB was "rubbish", Amorok was ok but the only one they liked was the Ranger.- 62 replies

Chevrolet News:2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Reveal

I think for a lot of people that are buying a Ferrari, it is their fourth, fifth and n-th car. It is very possible that these people that bought a quarter million Ferrari to carefully garage it and occasionally drive it to a local golf club would be interested in the "cheap" sub 100k mid-engine Vette that they can actually not to be afraid to drive in anger. -

I always immensely enjoy when local Posrche club has autocross event together with everybody else at a local SCCA club. Seeing these self important dentists and financial brokers in their 911 get killed in cars that costs fraction of the cost of their cars is always a great pleasure. You maybe can buy 911 or Ferrari but you can't buy skill. -

I can't say I love the look but it is still looks like a Corvette and it is a cool looking mid engine supercar that starts at $60k! Even with options at $70-80k it probably will smoke most of the stuff coming out of Germany and Italy that costs three times as much. Good for GM for pulling it off, I really hope it justifies the hype. I am doubly excited not because I will be able to afford even the base C8 Corvette but because I think at this price point most of the Vette crowd will flock to get it, dumping the C6 and C7 which means in the next year there should be very good deals that might allow me maybe to grab one at a price point I can afford. I would love to have C6 Z06 or C7 GS. -
Subaru News: Subaru Announces Legacy and Outback Pricing
ykX replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Subaru
Yes, same 2.4T as in the Ascent. 6 cylinder is gone. My friend has 2016 3.6R Outback. It is a very nice car, engine was good but CVT completely kills all the fun. On the positive side he gets very good fuel economy for a 6-cylinder. I think he paid for the fully loaded under $35k, now it is going to be close to $40k. Prices getting really crazy. -
Quite handsome I have to say, Europe only though (Ford Mondeo Active)
-
Congratulations, great looking truck!

I finished watching it just recently. That old Bentley is super cool and these two guys are something, they what makes the show fun, otherwise it would be just ok.

Camaro is definitely has better performance than the Mustang, everybody knows that. And because of that I personally was seriously interested in it. However, it took me two minutes exactly at an auto show to realize that no way in hell I would like to live with the Camaro's interior. I am not crazy about the exterior either but interior, the way it felt and looked was a big no for me. Mustang on the other hand feels just right. I have to say that the Challenger has the most comfortable seats and nicest interior. But it is way too big for my taste.

How about using Nissan Leaf for comparison to make it more apple to apple comparison? Nissan Leaf MSRP $30k Also, base Cruze for $18k has less features than Leaf (and I pity somebody buying the lowest trim Cruze) It still will be more expensive, but not by the crazy margin you showed Real prices from cargurus:

I like the new look a lot. The current one looks like an egg, I think 2020 is a big improvement.
-
While the first quarter Mustang sales were down, Ford still was able to sell almost 17k of these sport coupes. MB sold only slightly over 15k GLC crossovers. When the product is good, it sells.
-
Shame on GM for killing it and also bad for Mustang. Ford needs competition to keep improving the Mustang.

Jaguar News: Jaguar Land Rover Insists It Is Not For Sale

@dfelt You either on the bottom or not. Also, having some reliability issues and being a luxurious or high performance has nothing to do with each other. -

Jaguar is, MB and BMW not as much. MB is better than Cadillac and BMW is lower only by 1 point. -
@Drew Dowdell thanks! How about Hyundai twin? Or is it going to be a separate review? Personally, I like externally Hyundai a little more than Kia.
-
@Drew Dowdell Out of curiosity, have you driven the new Explorer? If you did, how it compares to Telluride?
-
@oldshurst442 Your experience differs from mine. Everyone I know who owns German cars (except high performance versions) or desires one only care about the badge and the prestige. Lexus is for people who want luxury, badge but still want to have reliability of their Camry they started with. I think people that buy M and Audi's RS cars in majority are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, however from what I have seen majority of AMG owners buy AMG only because it is the most expensive and powerful Merc they can get, and most of them are pompous asses
-
I love how many people here mentioned "average Lexus owner" I guess most people buying Lexus are looking for somewhat luxurious and reliable transportation with the an image that is at least somewhat a step up from the "common" brands. But I have to say 99.9% of people I know buying the German big three, doing so ONLY because of the LOGO on the front of the car. Most of them could care less, which wheel drive their car/crossover has, is it turbo four or six or eight cylinder, how much torque the engine has and at what RPM, etc. They only care about the BADGE and the perceived STATUS. And people who can't afford to buy these German brands but would like to, only desire to have the BADGE. We can argue here for another 10 pages about engines and locking differentials but honestly 99% of people could care less.
-
That's very true, but it has one more thing besides reliability that I personally like - it is a real off road capable truck. I know that 99% of the owners will never take it off road and that it drives like a dinosaur compared to X5 or GLE. But it is based on a very popular and capable Land Cruiser Prada, it is very reliable and very capable off road, and it makes it desirable to me personally. I wish it would be less ugly though and have the looks of the truck it based on but all manufacturers now have to have one corporate design now days. Lexus does need something more modern to compete with BMW or MB. Plenty of people though grab used ones after soccer moms are done with them and make real off road rigs

I think the wings on these two are actually functional. On GT I like the lip spoiler
