Aston Martin News:Aston Martin Launches its First SUV
ykX replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Aston Martin
I have no problem with Aston making an SUV. That's where the money today is and it is a big and profitable market. I bet DBX will sell more than the rest of the lineup combined. I am just a little disappointed in the design. It is not a bad looking SUV but I expected better from Aston.- 64 replies

It does look much better without cladding IMO. But even with the cladding it is a great looking car.

I actually agree This body looks so much better without on Mazda 3

It is not pretty by any means. Probably even ugly. But I love how different it is. I am a sci-fi fan so I kind of dig it. Will see if it actually gets to a production and when.

https://www.thedrive.com/news/31154/47-percent-of-people-wish-the-2021-ford-mustang-mach-e-had-a-different-name-survey "Autolist questioned approximately 1,000 members of the general public shopping for new vehicles and found that 47 percent disapprove of using the Mustang nameplate on an electric crossover. Only 19 percent supported Ford's choice to call the Mach-E a Mustang, and 34 percent assigned themselves to neither camp." Note that survey respondents weren't Change.org petition-signing Mustang hardliners. These were Averages Joes and Janes who, given a choice between the Mach-E and the Tesla Model Y, said they'd still pick the Ford 51 percent of the time. While opinions of Tesla among the surveyed group appeared to be mostly positive, Ford-allying respondents said they trusted the Blue Oval and its service network more than they did Tesla, which they weren't certain has much of a future."- 179 replies

Exactly my point which seems most people don't see. Porsche made an SUV but didn't call it 911. That is the whole point, not the fact that Ford made EV crossover, but the fact that it called it a Mustang.- 179 replies

These people are actual customers that buy that product, whatever that is. So I think it is in the best interest of the companies to listen to them. 911 became better by going liquid cooled. Vette became better by going mid-engine. Mustang name used on a crossover is not even close to these examples.- 179 replies

https://www.change.org/p/ford-motor-company-name-change-mustang-mach-e I am curious how many eventually will sign. Of course, no way Ford will change the name. Still, will be pretty good indication how many Mustang fans are not happy with the name.- 179 replies

Personally, I think Ford is selling out Mustang name, and does it poorly and cheaply. Regardless of how bad some previous Mustangs were and what kind of engines the have or had it was always a RWD coupe/convertible pony/sports car. Putting that name on the crossover, even fast EV one I think is a cheap move. I think it would be great if they just called it Mach E, that actually would be a cool name by itself.- 179 replies

Hyundai News:Hyundai Develops Road Noise Active Noise Control

LOL No it is not from engineering stand point and it works great in noise cancelling headphones. It will be same principal here. -
Actually looks great IMO. Will be one of the better looking sedans on the market

I have friends in IT (mostly working in financial sector) and I didn't hear about big cuts. That's great that you can work in almost any field. I have pretty specialized job, that's why my commute is so long, and if I loose my job, there only few places remaining in my area where I can work.
-
@Drew Dowdell What field do you work in?

@dfelt Why would anyone buy a Corolla with manual? I doubt there were a lot manual Corollas even 10-15 years ago. I am surprised though that 86 has only 33% of manual transmission sales. That really puzzles me, especially considering Miata has so many more manual takers. Makes sense to have manual in the car that has some soul and spunk, not commuting appliance.
-
Absolutely agree with you @balthazar. I don't believe there will be sudden explosion of EV vehicles, they need to make more economical sense. However, the trend is there. More and more I see EVs on the road. Just recently there was a statistics published that in US more EVs are sold than cars with manual transmission. It is not a huge indication, but it is a direction market is slowly going.
-
@balthazar So if EVs have no future, why Ford, GM, VW, Toyota increased their development of EVs. There is a bunch of known models coming soon from them and there is more still in development? Just to be fashionable?

125 miles is not great but more than enough for a city use or people having average commute (which is 15-20 miles one way)

Kia Soul EV Hyundai Ioniq Electric Hyundai Kona Electric Nissan Leaf Volkswagen e-Golf All of these are in the low 30s. You may argue that they still not price competitive with comparable ICE models. However, if to take into account energy savings and maintenance savings, I think they will be more than competitive. I think many more will come in the next few years. Like it or not it is obvious that giants like GM, Ford, VW and Toyota started seriously investing into EV vehicles. They are coming.
