C'MON EL K... You went from dissing the Ford Mustang GT350 and how to fix it to straight trolling Ford and their lack of RWD platforms... You know...Wings is no longer posting here, there is no Ford PR fluff master to "put into place"... MOPAR...you did mention the Giulia...HA! the Giulia is POSTPONED... But...lets talk about MOPAR... With an "old" platform, MOPAR still manages to keep the Challenger cool and hip. Even with Euro badge snobs, this car is revered... Ford...albeit not in the point in time I was looking at the GT350 at the Montreal auto show...the GT350 EL K...lets get that clear... Ford has made the GT350 into a lustful machine...Euro badge snobs look at it and wished their Euro trashed car was more like it...Jay Leno's words, not mine...and lets be honest...his circle of car guy friends sure makes yours and my car guy friends look like pansies... Lets be honest about the Camaro... Its a car with a CORVETTE engine under the hood. Yeah...you think that is a good marketing angle? Id rather just buy a Corvette and I could stop pretending owning a Corvette by driving a Camaro... And I aint even gonna talk about the bag over the head looks its got... You see EL K...I could troll Chevy just as good you try to troll Ford... Now...you know I dont want to do that. Just to correct one thing, they start building the Guilla next month...... With production delayed for several months back in November and reports of failed crash tests, I'll believe it when it actually happens. -

" How would you feel if you spent an extra fifteen grand for a pony car only to not be able to outrun another pony car that is fifteen grand less? " Why don't you ask some of those Z/28 boys? You know, the most capable Camaro to date, which the 1LE will not dethrone, how they feel about being out run by the 10- 12k less pony car? -

Wow... Pure trolling. Never has anyone but a person whos never driven the car, claims Ford needs to try harder. -

Please show where the GT350 isn't competitive against the 1LE. I searched and couldn't find and comparisons that the two cars have had that shows the GT350 needs to be more competitive Thanks -

I searched and found nothing anywhere that the GT350 is " no quicker " on a course than a 1LE. I'll second that " so show it ". -

Heck the $56,970 GT350 recently beat the $70,830 Corvette Z51 over at C&D. Going by that GM Fanboys logic, the Corvette is over priced then. -

The GT350/R over priced says the GM Fanboy Yet it ( The R ) laid waste to the pricier Z/28.... Hmmm -
Wow a "4.6L" pentastar that gets 25-35 mpg in a heavy-ass brick of a full-size sedan?? It's crazy because Fiat-Chrysler can barely manage that with their 4-cylinder cars. Wow is right...One can easily tell " 4.6L Pentastar " was a typo.

Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200
FordCosworth replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
... no.. again, Dec '14 was an unusually large sales gain for the 200. They basically ran a sale and moved a whole bunch of extra metal (and probably dumped the previous bodystyle into fleets). Dec '15 was a return to norm. It looks like a big drop, but it is really just a return to normal. For the entire year, the 200 was up 52%. http://www.cheersandgears.com/topic/86233-december-2015-fca-us-llc/ December '13 - 5,652 December '14 - 16,229 (fleeting and big discounts on old model) December '15 - 8,759 (and up 52% for the year) Jan 2016 - 5200 units -
Ford recorded a pre-tax profit of $10.8 billion for 2015.

Maybe Ford should have declared bankruptcy like GM and Chrysler. Then, like GM and Chrysler, could have inherited none of the responsibilities after they filed for said BK, all while screwing over many hard working families and shareholders. And then Ford too could enjoy massive tax breaks allowed due to the BK? -
Chrysler News: FCA Reports Earnings, Updates Five Year Plan
FordCosworth replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
FCA is struggling with the current CAFE standards, not sure how they expect manage the escalating targets in the coming years by focusing on outdated piggy trucks ( that will soldier on for years without significant revamps ) and SUV's - last time I was on the dealer's lot there were plenty of these vehicles to be seen. But we're told the focus is on these due too demand? A 5yrs Plan that changes weekly. Maybe We the People will "get" to bail Chrysler out (or buy it?) again.- 11 replies

Chrysler News: FCA Reports Earnings, Updates Five Year Plan

I will argue with you on the Promasters being the worst vans out there. I think they are some of the best don't cost an arm and leg like the Sprinter. Car and Driver did a comparison and the Promaster had some of the lowest scores they ever had. The Transit and Sprinter were way ahead, and the ProMaster wasn't all that cheap, it was $37,590, while the Sprinter was $41,000. The Promaster City is no Ford Transit Connect either. So true. " The Ram ProMaster, a Fiat Ducato with ram-head logos, is a detestable, shovel-faced thing that appears to have been cobbled together from spare parts. Too harsh? No, not really. The ProMaster itself is an insult. It is the only vehicle in any comparison test in memory to receive zero points in a subjective category from one of our voters. Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200
FordCosworth replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
the 200 is a pretty decent car, it's one of my favorites in the segment. People like Reg don't like it because they are shopping for the most cubic feet of interior room per dollar. If you just need a sedan to get you to work and back with little concern for the back seat passengers, there are definitely worse choices out there. The 200 is also unique in that it is the only V6 with AWD mid-size family car that I can think of outside of a top end Subaru Legacy. I also happen to like the interior better than most of its direct competition. Actually, the Fusion Sport is AWD and V-6... a Twin Turbo Gas Direct Injection V-6 -
" Spurred by strong numbers in North America, Ford recorded a pre-tax profit of $10.8 billion for 2015. That number is up a full $3.5 billion from the previous year. Revenue ended up at $149.6 billion by the end of 2015, Ford also reported. The company posted a full-year net income of $7.4 billion, an increase of $6.1 billion from the previous year. This figure comes out to $1.84 per share, up $1.53 from a year ago. Pre-tax profit remained strongest in North America, where the automaker garnered $9.3 billion. In the U.S., Ford achieved its strongest sales numbers since 2005. The company also returned to profitability in Europe after several difficult years. In this region, the automaker managed to move 10 percent more volume, earning a profit of $259 million. The automaker also credits its success in Europe to favorable market conditions and its ability to lower costs during the fourth quarter of the year. Along with the booming Asia Pacific region, which earned $765 million in profit last year, North America and Europe helped make up for heavy losses in South America. Ford’s new Middle East and Africa business unit scored a modest profit of $31 million. For 2016, Ford expects its pre-tax results in North America to remain about the same as the previous year, while it forecasts higher results in Europe. Losses in South America are expected to be even greater this year. " http://www.motortrend.com/news/ford-posts-2015-pre-tax-profit-of-10-8-billion-makes-gains-in-europe/

Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200
FordCosworth replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
That would seal the fate of Alfa too though... the way they pay for that new platform is by sharing it with Dodge and Chrysler to get as much volume out of it as possible. Basically, that would be Serg throwing the baby out with the bathwater if he killed the Charger. (not that that scenarios is impossible in Serg's world) How many times was the launch of the Giulia pushed back? Alfa won't complete the debut of its new lineup until the middle of the next decade, and that FCA will be scaling back the brand's research and development, manufacturing, and product investments through 2018. " This new product strategy differs from the original Marchionne strategy in a few key ways. First, all of these vehicles were supposed to have been launched between May 2014 and sometime in 2018. Since it's 2016 and we can't even buy a Giulia yet, it's pretty clear that plan isn't going to happen. Instead, the six vehicles that will follow the Giulia and midsize CUV won't start arriving until 2017, with debuts continuing until at least 2020. Say goodbye to the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200
FordCosworth replied to FordCosworth's topic in Industry News
With killing the Dart and 200, its looking like FCA will still be the big purchaser of Carbon Credits for the foreseeable future. -
Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne outlined an update to the company's five-year business plan Wednesday, and among the changes, the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 sedans will soon be phased out. The company's presentation to investors states that the "market shift from cars to trucks and UVs [utility vehicles is] now seen as permanent shift in demand," and FCA wants to respond as quickly as possible. Killing the 200 and Dart will allow FCA to build more Jeep and Ram models at the Sterling Heights, MI, and Belvidere, IL, plants where the sedans were produced. We already knew FCA was planning to shift 200 and Dart production to Mexico, to free up the Sterling Heights facility for Ram 1500 production, and the Belivdere site for Jeep Cherokee output. The Cherokee will move from its current home in Toledo, OH, to allow for increased Wrangler production. It's no shock that FCA wants to shift its focus to crossovers and trucks. In December 2015, for example, combined sales of the Dodge Dart and Chrysler 200 were 15,310. The Jeep Cherokee, which uses the same platform as the Dart and 200, outsold both models combined, with 24,049 sales. Both the Dart and 200 had troubles from the beginning. Marchionne recently blamed designers for the 200 not receiving a Consumer Reports 'recommended' rating, and the Dart was one of the lowest-scoring cars in a CR reliability study. http://www.autoblog.com/2016/01/27/dodge-dart-chrysler-200-dead-confirmed/
