  1. I especially recommend Brock Yates' archived review on C/D. It'll turn up pretty high up on a Google search using the keywords I mentioned.
  2. I'm on pace to do it in my Longhorn. But I doubt I'll still have it by that point. To be honest, offering that kind of warranty on a modern driveline of nearly any kind is futile.
  3. I rarely haul out the heavy artillery. But for the sake of testing the software, here goes: "Pigf@#ker." ...hmm.
  4. Google "Lamborghini LM002" and be prepared to read a story too insane to be made up.
  5. I dunno, maybe it's an age thing and you needed to be there when the LM002 dropped. It was every bit as nutty as the Countach, which was also an iffy proposition as far as a retail experience. In any event, I'm a lot less put off by this vehicle then if some other, less crazy outfit decided to do it.
  6. I bent a valve in mine immediately after sinking 650 bucks into the emissions system.
  7. Life been good to me so far, car-wise. Course, when I started posting waaaaay back in the days of the AWCC my whip was a '92 Buick Century with no A/C and a '98 Ford Contour whose A-arm front suspension was the only redeeming feature on the whole car.
  8. I'm a bit surprised at all the rage thrown Lambo's way because of this, because it isn't the first SUV they've produced-remember the LM-002/004/America? On the contrary, the only thing wrong with the Urus is that it won't offer a V12 packing a six-pack of Weber carbs like the LM offered.
  9. I like Corvettes. I own one. I like Camaros. I might get one, again.
  10. I told U... What's up Willy? Not much, meng-I'm just enjoying being in a place where someone doesn't threaten to sodomize me with a BBQ sausage because his feelings were hurt by something I said about his car brand.
  11. The thing that blows my mind is seeing just how low those old F-bodies were compared to the Zeta. The tumblehome on the side glass was pretty extreme on some of them as well. All in all I'm impressed by how LITTLE current car has changed compared to the original, at least as far as size goes.
  12. I have seen this feature in other forums. The problem is that the ones who most need to use it never do. Anyways, I'm not interested in sending any fur flying. If this place is as well-run as they claim (and it's been around for nearly 15 years so clearly it is) then all will be good.
  13. Man, I'm tellin' you... I'm seriously thinking about going and getting another one instead of a Stingray. Just wanna see what trims they're gonna have above the SS, or maybe see what packages Callaway will be offering. It looks that good.
  14. Could be. I remember seeing FWD smallblock Monte Carlos rumbling around the grounds of GM Oshawa back in the day when I was still gainfully employed there. In that case it went into production (whether or not THAT was a good idea is a whole 'nother discussion).I will be the first to admit that the LS7 would be a bit of an odd duck in an all-DI smallblock world. But it has the credentials, and it's always been a low-volume build engine. A slight refresh to get it up to 520hp is probably doable.
  15. The sheer amount of bulk that's been trimmed out of the outgoing car is an eye-opener. It's one thing to read the writeups that say so. It's quite another to see a diagram like this. I can't wait to see it in person.
  16. Good eye.
  17. I just checked in there to check my PMs. Zero traffic. The hot thread over there today was some middle-aged man bragging about his fitness regimen. ...yes, I'm pretty sure we all made the right decision.
  18. It's a wonderful thing to see a sunset in northern Alberta in the late spring. The sun dips below the horizon, the colours go from orange to purple to deep blue, and finally... the deep blue stops getting darker, shuffles across the horizon to the right, and promptly starts getting brighter again. What, where did the stars go?
  19. (I think this is the best place to drop this thread. If it needs to be moved, feel free. Also, forgive the dead link. Copy/paste will have to do till I figure stuff out, but trust me it's worth it.)Much has been made of the new Camaro's size, and the introduction of the new one highlights that. Now, thanks to Car and Driver, you can see just how much the Camaro has grown/shrunk over the years. Cool info and graphics at the link: http://blog.caranddriver.com/the-chevrolet-camaro-hasnt-grown-as-much-since-1967-as-you-might-think/
  20. Producing a styling homage to a car that was an homologation special is setting yourself up for failure. If the original emphasized function over form then why would you attempt to replicate the form?
  21. Thing is... Conrad Black is no longer in jail. Whatever you may think of the man, most of his convictions were overturned, in no small part because they were originally laid in Chicago, which is to unbiased trials what McDonald's is to fine cuisine. And Black, for all his shortcomings, does have a way with the pen that I admire. Anyway, digression over.
  22. Ouch??? Wings??? New profile, few downer anti-GM posts, a guy supposedly from England who heard a Ford UTE the other day... Ya. Fits the profile. Ah well. Personally I'm sick of the drama.. but we all kno that the some won't let to go away. You can bet the press is perpetuating the issue. This country absolutely hates it's corporations, while very often at the same time loving foreign ones. Seriously. If the Revolutionary war were fought today, you can bet good money we'd be sending tax dollars to the Queen The courts are well within their right to press forward with the issue. But yes, there has to be some context to the investigation-it CANNOT become a witch-hunt. The Toyota and Takata messes need to be considered in any similar action versus GM. Media bias against GM?... Nah-media bias against anything the media doesn't like. Don Henley didn't write "Dirty Laundry" for nothing.
  23. I'm pretty comfortable saying a lightly-freshened 7L engine combined with a handling package on an Alpha chassis will bloody the Shelby's nose. And I'm on record as saying I love the Shelby. It makes little sense for GM to go through the hoops they went through to make their cars lighter if they totally forego the advantages that light weight gives them. I like the LT4 a lot, but there is a time and a place for something that is a bit lighter and high-strung.
  24. When I first read this I was pretty stoked. Actually, I still am stoked. I don't see it as a simple A+B=C scenario, though: -the LS7 is a hand-built engine, and always has been. Therefore I don't foresee build and sales volumes becoming an issue. -I would be a bit surprised if was an actual LS engine. The reasoning behind not doing a 7L LT block was supposedly the inability for the cylinder deactivation to work well with 7000-plus RPM valvetrain components. They didn't say a thing about issues with DI, though. -GM is a big outfit. Doing software interfaces for 8L90 and 7-speed manual transmissions should be fairly straightforward. -I agree that Cadillac is going for greater independence from the rest of GM, and this is a good thing. However, a hand-built, dry-sump engine has that certain snob appeal. The sound it makes is the capper. -and lastly, a point that kinda shoots down my last one but is too awesome to ignore: this engine in an Alpha Camaro is a bona-fide Shelby GT350 killer. A bit off-topic, but thanks for all the friend invites I've gotten. If I don't return them right away it's nothing personal: I'm pretty busy with work right now and I really haven't explored this place's capabilities too much yet. I'll get around to it, I promise *L*
  25. Eh, everyone who I care to discuss stuff with is now here. Onward!
