  1. I agree with you on this. Neither one is offensive to my eyes but I prefer the styling cues on he production one. Even the floating roof pillar out back looks ok, sorta.
  2. The rule is "trolling behaviour." If every post you make, regardless of topic, includes a dig against an automaker before you even type a word?... you're a troll, and you clearly have no other reason to be here other than to troll.
  3. It appears to be a tall wagon with a mix of Volt and Cruze styling cues. And, of course, that 200 mile battery range. Pretty neat stuff. More at the link: http://www.motortrend.com/news/spied-production-chevrolet-bolt-caught-completely-undisguised/
  4. What's even more troubling is that Lincoln currently has twice as many entries in the SUV/CUV segments as Cadillac, but still can't catch them. Statistically speaking, you will be almost as likely to see a 2015 Corvette on the road as either of Lincoln's sedans from the same model year.
  5. Given what GM has been able to accomplish with weight loss in their cars I'm not too worried about CAFE scores for their trucks. I'm sure they'll get it done.
  6. It's a great time to buy a GTI if that's your kinda ride. Wonder if the incentives apply across the board?
  7. Yeah, but I was talking about Mustang, not truck. But the Mustang seems to have similar issues.
  8. Another incredible stat: GM has sold over 220,000 body-on-frame SUVs so far this year to go with over 735,000 Silverados and Sierras. They're going to break a million of these things for the year, with the vast majority of them packing DI smallblocks. Wow
  9. He can, like anyone else who doesn't believe, look it up too.Doesn't mean jack squat about any of my claims though. As per this article, small diesels are the way to go for eco and thrift:http://www.motortrend.com/news/2014-ram-1500-ecodiesel-outdoorsman-crew-cab-4x4-verdict-review/
  10. Look out! Here come the hi-octane mileage "defeat devices!" ...which upon further review may not turn out to be all that funny
  11. If you're on a budget and you need your truck to do it all then yes, I can see where a V8 or EB would be good for a giggle in a straight line. I have a co-worker who has a regular-cab EB for just that reason. I'm not in that position, and judging by the number of street-sport trucks being sold neither are many others. I'm quite happy taking nine seconds to get to 60. And I have good reason to believe I'm governed to a similar top speed as my Hemi was
  12. I'll let you argue with wings over that. He begs to differ.
  13. Cadillac is up. That's good. VW is just starting to feel the heat. It's gonna get worse.
  14. I have to beg to differ on the cost of premium fuel. Most places around me at $0.20/gal difference per grade so that's $0.40/gal differece. I've seen places as high as $0.30/gal difference per grade. For my car with a smaller 15 gallon tank(lets say it empties for argument's sake) that's 6 dollars a fillup more. I drive right around 12,000 miles per year. At 24mpg that's 500 gallons at 26mpg that's 461 gallons. Let's just say regular unleaded is $2.00/gallon(it's been hovering right around it for awhile now, here at least). So premium would be $2.40/gallon. 500x2.0= 1000 461x2.4= 1106. You're not actually saving any money using the premium fuel you're just getting better mileage. So it's useless. Exactly! It's just hype and hoopla for the most part. If you're buying the truck for the Eco, you're not doing the planet any favors because FE gains are negligible. If you're buying it because you're a tightwad then you're gonna hate buying 91 Octane. If you're buying it for any other reason then you have no reason not to look elsewhere. Based on my personal experience and circumstances, a small diesel is the best way to be cheap and eco-friendly.
  15. You pretty much read my mind on both counts. As I recall, the reason they said they didn't do an LT7-type engine was that the cylinder-deactivation hardware wasn't up to the revs the engine could do. Also, I think there were some emission hurdles to clear. But even if they just did a "396" variant of the LT1 with a different cam profile I think they'd have a winner on their hands.
  16. I'm a bit shocked that you would bring up the Mustang. It's month-over-month sales drop is the second-largest in Ford's portfolio (and for the purposes of your dig at the Camaro, far worse relative to it as well). But as long as you brought it up, I will point out that it appears to prove the point many of us have made about the car: the me-first crowd and rental fleets appear to be saturated now, so I would expect to see the car settle back to previous-gen sales levels. Given that the platform is brand new and standalone, I'm not sure this is necessarily a good thing. The fact that Ford has sold over 100,000 less passenger trucks than GM is also a worrying sign for Dearborn.
  17. The Corvette appears to have settled into its niche as well. 30,000 units per year ain't too shabby for what it is. I kinda expect them to do another widebody variant or two eventually.
  18. Perhaps. But it really sticks out like a sore thumb when you're touting the tech for its FE advantages over normally aspirated engines with more cylinders.
  19. Wow. Very rare that you have a sales report that uniformly good. About the worst I can say is that the Caddy crossover ain't on sale yet to take advantage of the crossover sales boom. Otherwise, just amazing.
  20. It was just another weekend up here. I didn't intend to drop it on the equivalent of a slow news day. Without knowing the specifics on course length I was still content to accept a margin of 1.4 seconds as a clear victory. Like I said, the OP didn't leave any of that in dispute. I have pointed out that the Shelby's relatively high mass and scarcity of torque already. The weight advantage (over the even heavier Zeta) and suspension tuning were what got it the victory. Thing is, GM has already addressed both those issues (in rather dramatic fashion) in the two production model Alphas they have shown. So they're already on the case with the next Z/28. Ultimately though it just boils down to GM has more to work with in this segment than Ford because of corporate mandate. GM still cares about V8 engines for the masses, GM still cares about RWD luxury and the engineering inherent to it. I'm fine with pointing it out because it's completely factual. Where things always go wrong is when people try to make counterarguments that have no factual support. This is a very bad strategy to take.
  21. Yes. But if you do either one of those some people get all upset. Lost in all the hype and hoopla is the inconvenient fact that it was me who started this thread, it was me who posted the link, it was me who said it was a clean victory. The only thing I noted was the discrepancy in the dyno numbers. Nobody replied. Check the time stamps, see for yourself. Since nobody was interested in adding their two cent's worth, I decided to add mine. And mine is that this win will likely turn out to be a short-lived one because it appears that GM already has a new benchmark set to debut, whereas the Shelby seems to have targeted the previous one. 90% of what followed was unnecessary, at best. It gets old pretty quick. But it makes no sense to just accept that kinda thing. Certainly I'm not going to.
  22. So anyways, the brand-new GT350R beat an out of production Camaro. Shall we continue?
  23. If Bosch can plausibly show that the emissions mode was a legit protocol for them to program in and they have that email warning VW not to abuse it then I don't see where they can be conclusively proven to have been in on the scam. That doesn't mean it's not a huge black eye for them, but still.
  24. I can't imagine that that kind of reduced FE helps with Eco anymore than it does Boost.
  25. Rules is rules. The same rules apply equally to all. Deferring to someone who willfully flaunts them is a terrible message to send. Correcting them, no matter how petty it may seem, is the correct action to take. Simple as that
