  1. Yeah. It's one of those cars that has really aged gracefullly; yet now it's the oldest in its segment niche. And I can't help but state how the Lacrosse is mere hundreds of dollars more comparatively equipped. I really don't think the Regal has any luxury credibility; because it's basically and Opel Insignia. If that's true; its biggest competitor is a Ford Mondeo. With a little further extrapolation; does this look good on the Fusion or on the Regal? The Fusion is the Ford Mondeo. And a Mondeo competes against the Insignia and Passat and Euro Accord. And the Regal is an Insignia. This comes with the bigger problem of keeping the sole midlevel Buick offering relevant. If it continues to be the badge swap of the Insignia; it'll never be more than what it is; a Euro flavored Chevy Malibu. It doesn't matter what the chassis tuning they use to keep it separate from the Malibu; GM wants to see the Malibu succeed finally; and I can't help but think that if this Malibu is just as competent in every area as the next Insignia other than interior materials; it'll be absolutely correct to call the next Regal a fancy Chevy; not a Buick. But, they evidently found out that artificially keeping prices up with the 2.0T only hurt sales; so now they're going to share even more with the Malibu.
  2. Yes, political dynasties have become the modern euphemism for medieval dictatorships. It's no question that like in the past, change in leadership comes at the expense of the losing party's credibility. Whether if it was beheadings in the not too distant past in terms of the age of human civilization to the death of one's political career due to the embarrassment of the discovery of sheer incompetence; they are essentially the same means to an end.
  3. Underrated or not the idea of its OK to put a 4cylinder in a Euro, but blasphemy to do it in an American Luxo is BULL$h!. Its actually no different than the BS that has been ignored about the Audi A8 coming in FWD config since forever in Europe, but them only offering it in AWD to fool the Car "Enthusiasts" who despite all their worldly car knowledge always are oblivious to this. And no harm, but can U post a link to where the 528i was faster than the CTS2.0??? Casa, I don't like the double standard either, it's all bunk and nonsense. As for posting links, I'm lazy, but I think everyone knows that BMW and Audi especially love to drastically underrate their engines. I think with the 8 Speed, the CTS will be even with the 528i. Most tests had the 528i at about 5.8 to 6 Seconds range while the CTS had a 6.0 to 6.3 seconds 0-60 range. All of it due to gearing. But.... here's the but... the Cadillac is lighter. And I'm just putting it out there; but I really couldn't care about 0.1 second differences myself. I'd get the Caddy every day, all day; every time, all the time. Just so you know.
  4. I'm not usually one to pick sides, but GM's engines on a lot of fronts are better than Mopar's. Especially since FCA doesn't have a dire need to design and engineer Hellcat like V8s or diesels. They already have them at their disposal. In the segments that are the bread and butter; GM's powertrains and the number they have on disposal is VASTLY superior. LFX and PentaStar... Eh, LFX hasn't seen a RWD SUV application; but when the LGX does in a future XT6 or something of that nature; I can say with no qualms that it'll be better a V6 than an updated PentaStar in its RWD SUV applications. I like the PentaStar, though the LGX is gonna destroy the market, plain and simple.
  5. That's not quite accurate. The Malibu and Regal were designed and engineered separately, which is why they share no hardpoints in the interiors and the cargo capacities are different. The Regal is even smaller than the Malibu in back and has a smaller trunk, a sign of the european Opel development. The MKZ has significant Fusion roots that you can see when you look at them side by side, so your comparison is ironic in that sense. I'm not arguing the Regal's failed marketing position, though. That's obvious from the sales alone. However, I've been in pre and post refresh Regals and I was impressed by the interior. Moreso than $40-50k Acuras, which is really the segment Buick is going for. I don't fault CSpec for his reaction with the high-end expectations he had. No, I actually wanted the irony. It doesn't really matter if the Regal is superior because it's different from the Malibu. Because the MKZ is far closer to the Fusion, yet is the more compelling product. Again, being a largely unchanged car from 2008 just isn't helping the Regal. Sure, a new engine and face-lift helps; but right now's the time for a full redesign, not carry over refreshes
  6. Good News: The Pizza delivery guy was a DEA agent for a sting op not delivering pizzas but formerly confiscated controlled substances. The guy is taken right back to jail, and the best part, you're none the wiser; so you decide to change your name, change your hair style; and move out of Detroit.
  7. Peanut butter JELLLEY!!! Ccap what's up my homie brodie yodie lokie?
  8. ........Groupon?? (What's a Poupon? And no I refuse to google it, because it'll force me to put a probably more appropriate word associated with it)
  9. Yeah, I'm completely disinterested with Lincoln, other than the fact that the MKZ looks breathtaking to me. The rest, meh. As for the Continental. Great concept, but I predict a terrible production product. Because it's flawed in one key area: FWD based. Maybe they can massage a Fusion into something brilliant, but until the day comes and people drive it, it's a pretty sensible stance to take; that Ford or should I say Lincoln Motor Company will over-promise and under-deliver.
  10. The thing is, the Regal, in all due respect, is a really nice Malibu. Or what the Malibu should have been without the Regal. The Lacrosse is barely more expensive, yet is so much more car. The Regal sits in a stupid segment positioning. Even a Lincoln MKZ is more towards what the Regal should have been, because it isn't toting around a design from 2008. The Regal is simply a day late and a dollar short in the premium midsize segment. Either a TLX or a MKZ is more appropriate, because they're fresher; but the same kind of vehicle in terms of what they deliver.
  11. I think even with immense weight loss or best in class curb weights and lbs/hp, Cadillac's gotta continue to walk the walk instead of riding the talk. Like I've said before here, I'll believe it when I see it. If the CT6 is a serial-killer adept at slaying 7 Series and S-Classes; well I want to see it happen. Until then, no one in this segment (buyers) cares about weight unless Cadillac manages to make it important for the sake of performance and prestige, not CAFE. Heck, Bentley and Rolls-Royce engineers keep looking for more ways to make their cars EVEN heavier and more sublime. So you're going to tell me, that a fledgling luxury brand, right about to find its place in the sun, is somehow going to change an over three decade's game overnight with one CT6? And this is in spite of my outright love of Cadillac and everything they've been doing. I love the CTS. I love the ATS-V. I love everything Cadillac right now, but I'm a realist. I think S-Class and 7 Series owners will scoff at the CT6 and say it's made out of an American beer can, and point to their magic body control and carbon fibre and overpriced monroney stickers, and you know what, I'd agree with them. It doesn't matter how fast a CT6 goes around the corners or in a straight line, when the S-Class dominates as a luxury car, not a sporty car. Everyone else falls in line. I'm not skeptical of Cadillac, but of buyer's willingness to try Cadillac.
  12. MKT needs to be killed with fire... enough said. It may be great for hauling stuff, toting kids, even have great materials and value... which Fords already deliver; which is why a model like this one for Lincoln doesn't help its luxury cred.
  13. I used to have a '95 Maxima. I loved it. It had minor electrical gremlins in its old age. I always liked them, and not because of their dumb 4DSC badging. The interior was solidly built, the car weighed only 3200 lbs, and the boot was huge, and had a full sized spare. It was a GLE with the classy dark green paint and tan leather. The VQ35DE was a torquey monster for its time and 190 ponies and 210 ft-lbs torque out of 3.0L liters would have been competitive even 8-9 years ago, let alone 21. It was an exhilarating car and it did win MT's import car of the year award, even though Nissan had done aggressive cost-cutting in the generation. I see the appeal of this car, it's trying to be the really bold entry in this segment. Every auto mag review has said it's a legit car. I don't see why not. The interior is the real deal, and the exterior is a love it or hate it affair, but the same could be said of Toyota, Ford's (2016 Shanghai Taurus), Hyundai's, and Kia's segment players. Either the designs have been new and either ugly or exciting or just more of the same, boring or derivative. I don't think it's fair to judge this CVT as a total loss, especially when both C&D and M/T were okay with it to say the least. FWD does limit the car, though. At 40k+ fully loaded sounds right for the segment too, as the Impala, Azera, Taurus, and Avalon... everyone ends just north of 40K. Do I personally plan on getting one? No, I think this Maxima has a horrendous/disgusting exterior, but there's a lot of good stuff in this car everywhere else.
  14. As you can see from CSpec's post CP, none of those features matter to him. The Regal's interior is it's biggest flaw, plain and simple for him.
  15. I like the current pre-refresh Cruze's look. A very clean and classy look. We've all seen the leaked redesign. I didn't care for it. I see a Toyota Corolla with a bow-tie on it in this image. Fancy. I guess Chevy wants it to be a fancy Corolla. Fine by me; and plenty of people will gobble them up.
  16. 64 lbs lighter than a CTS 2.0T RWD. So, by the book - 3556 BMW is dropping from 7-series weight to 5-series weight, but the CT6 is ATS AWD weight.... it dropped two size classes. A fact that a BMW owner looking to trade in and upgrade really wouldn't care about. As for Cadillac, good on them. But you are comparing a AWD ATS to a RWD CT6. Not exactly matching. It would be exactly two segments lower if it was a AWD CT6 weight quoted above. I imagine 34 speakers isn't included in that number.
  17. That's always been my sticking point about FCA. They've made great in-roads with sales. They've radically increased their market share across multiple segments. But Sergio knew that when buying Chrysler. He saw the little money pit that would allow Fiat to get on its feet. But the well's going to run dry soon; so the delay of product is only going to make the haste of finding a partner self evident. A pairing with Mazda is quite frankly, a terrible idea. Mazda doesn't need anything from FCA. As for Ford, GM, Nissan/Renault, Hyundai/Kia, Toyota, Honda, VW Group.... the list will go on; well, FCA has nothing to offer to them to share because Jeep's platforms could be shared but the products would always be bespoke; which would involve really costly re-engineering. Products might sell well for FCA US LLC, but it's quite clear that Sergio's desire to make Alfa Romeo whole again is going to drag the rest of the firm under. It's not that there's a big drive for better product offerings for the lesser brands; but FE standards and emmissions compliance is forcing the hands of other automakers to pour money into their bread and butter vehicles. So again, it seems like Chrysler is being used by the parent company to keep the parent company afloat. We all know what happens to the "gotta have" division when it's sucked completely dry to keep the have-nots alive. Like seriously; look at the botched launch of Fiat. Look at the blatant fact that Alfa Romeo and BMW haven't been put together in decades. Look at the fact that Maseratis have quite a few Chrysler LX parts-bin quality. All of those truths hurt FCA, they really do
  18. Ehhh. Well, BMW's engines are always horribly underrated. So since the CT6 and next 7 Series are going to weigh what their current siblings in the lower segment weigh; the BMW will probably still be faster 0-60 like the current 528i is over the CTS 2.0T. But the CT6 could make a huge impact around the corners. But again, stupid nuances. Anyone in America looking at a CT6 or 7 Series probably isn't wanting for dollars that they're gonna save. In all sense of the world, it's a move for efficiency and emissions compliance. Downsizing has been happening all over the place, even in really absurd places. No one is following anyone. Every automaker is being forced down the same path; one way or another.
  19. Uh.... still tired. And the pressures of being a pivotal member of your work group. It's like they need you ALL the time. Goddamn it. By the way, what do you guys think of my sig? Pretty nifty joke from a colleague.
  20. I saw more new Mustangs this week than ever. About 50/50 split between EB or GT. All of them look spectacular to me.
  21. What about the new 4.5L TT? That oughta be a knockout in an ATS-V+
