Good advice, but I think it's a little late to the party. Definitely when buying used I have always taken someone more mechanically inclined with me, buying my last one new I was less concerned with getting help. Only advice I got there was my uncle saying beware of Dodge for the high cost of parts/repairs. I was never really sure if that statement was accurate, or came down to some bias (though he did work for NAPA as a manager and also is a pretty decent mechanic).

Volt sales should be expected to fall at the moment as the current model is on the way out. I'm interested to see how those numbers continue to shake out once the new Volt hits and has been on the market for a few months to get a more accurate comparison of sales.

I love the looks of the GMCs, especially in Denali trim, at least for being a truck. I don't get to drive those competitors so much, so it's a little disappointing to see how it stacks up there. I thought the GMC was pretty nice, but without that frame of reference I was clearly not realizing what I was missing out on. Clearly GM needs to work a little on the infotainment systems. Though I don't think it's the majority of buyers' experiences (at least I haven't heard any complaints form my own customers), clearly it is effecting enough people that something isn't quite right and needs to be fixed. On the plus side, hey, there's available 4G LTE wifi, right?

Because Nissan has just about given up on anything that isn't a CVT. With everyone trying different things to get better fuel mileage for CAFE standards, Nissan's biggest push in that direction so far really has been CVT everything. It has it's good and it's bad points, it isn't horrible for those looking for an appliance, but they need to get their heads out of their rears and realize that if they are going to label something as a sports car it definitely should not be running a CVT.

I would be tempted to have fun with that, just on a whim pick a random word to be declared a swear word for a day and mess with peoples' heads.

FCA Drops Warranty from 100k. Follows GM to 60K
SalesmanSean replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chrysler
It only makes sense, with just a couple makes keeping with those longer warranties why stay out there on that ledge by themselves. Who really was left with that kind of warranty, Hyundai and Kia? Though they have come a long way over the years in their perception of quality, I would venture that those are not the companies (company) you would want to be seen as most closely compared to. Getting in line with the rest of the Detroit folks made the most sense. Maybe I've become a little more glass half full as I've aged, but to me lower lengths on these warranties is a good thing. I know some will say it looks like a lack of confidence in your product, but I feel the opposite way. If you're lowering the warranty lengths, to me it says that you're confident that your product didn't need another 40k miles of warranty, where if you're giving me 100k versus everyone else's 60k, I'm wondering what you're expecting to go wrong in that extra mileage. -
It hasn't given me any issues, but if that's an issue people have seen, I can see them wanting to fix it. That's kind of surprising as those and other head units (albeit from different manufacturers) tend to offer increased functionality for Androids over iPhones (things that can stream through Bluetooth on Androids often need USB connections to stream from iPhones and Androids offer the option to reply to text with preset messages where iPhones can't).I'm not so much a fan of CUE, but I've really liked MyLink. Of the ones we see on the lot here I'd probably put Mylink first, with either MazdaConnect or Entune second (I really like the commander control, so I'd probably give the nod to the Mazda), then Intellilink, and CUE and Nissan Connect can duke it out for the bottom spot. That said, none of them are deal-breakingly bad, but some definitely function better than others. If the Android and iPhone specific software is the way the industry is going I don't blame GM for trying to get there first, or at least towards the front of the pack, I just don't know that it was ever really needed in the first place. It really seems more like a marketing tool than much of a functional upgrade so that they can say they have Android and iPhone technology. I may be proven wrong, and I'll reserve final judgement until these systems hit the lot, but my first impression is, and I hate using this term but it's the most accurate description, "meh" at best.

I thought we had, to Contours, Corvettes, Camaros, and Cougars? At least that was the goal, I thought it was working.
-
Yeah, I can see how that might sour you on it. Like I said, I heard a lot of horror stories from friends and family on them (after I bought mine, of course, not before), so I'm not surprised you had troubles. I guess I was just one of the lucky few who ended up with a decent one. I'm sure someday when I'm old and grey I'll be able to afford something sportier, until then my much more realistic dream for my next car is a Mazda 3 hatchback. It'll be a few years before I can afford to worry about that, though.

These systems will operate both Android and Apple. Customers won't be required to pick compatibility at the dealership. Hyundai's already implemented this system and the reviews are quite good, considering it's still very new. The link below is a good place to start. http://www.theverge.com/2015/5/26/8659671/android-auto-in-car-system-review-smartphone-hyundai-sonata Can't access the site for that article here at work, sadly, but from the main article here it doesn't really seem like they offer much functionality that wasn't already available through the standard MyLink system.

I liked my '98 Contour okay, mostly because right after I bought it I heard nothing but horror stories from people about Contours, but mine ran perfectly well (I bought it in '03). It finally had to go in '09 after some major repair work to the...well, to everything in the near vicinity of my wheels. Tie rods, bearings, and I don't remember what all else. Rather than wait for the next thing to go wrong I traded it for my current Civic. Still, for those 6 years it performed admirably. It wasn't anything special, I'll grant you that, but I had no complaints, either. I did still very much miss my old '82 Mercury Cougar Wagon, though it had been dead and departed for a few years by then. I believed that thing to be an unkillable tank of a car until it got totalled.

Sadly, I do not remember that vehicle. Is till don't think it means they're okay to build SUVs, I just think it means they should have learned from a prior mistake.

I wish I could afford to own either one. I can't really afford the car I've got, and it's paid off.

To start, the kind of people that have that kind of money to throw around aren't the kind of people that keep a car long, they're always looking for the next new thing. Heck, assuming Tesla does leases (I don't know all the ins and outs of how they do business), it's very likely a number of these are off-lease vehicles. Now if there was some data to support that the majority of the people trading in these vehicles were going to anything other than another Tesla, that would be a whole different ballgame. These numbers are interesting, but without the proper context they are mostly meaningless.

I'm just impressed that since moving over here there has not been a single thread on the level of what Wings and company have been filling MT up with, and also none of the trolling, flaming, and brand bashing that MT was such a hotbed for. I mean, yes, people, including myself, may mention they don't like a brand, but they aren't going out of their way to try and tell everyone the brand is awful, they just allow people to have different opinions. It is really refreshing, seeing adult conversation taking place. Even Casa, though he may still be a little extreme in some of his views, is a much calmer and more concise poster (no offense, Casa, but I think you know that you got right in there with the rest of them on a lot of the over the top arguing over there). It shows pretty clearly that some people were very true in their statements that they were playing to the audience that they had, and not necessarily posting the way they would have preferred. all Good. I'll be the first to admit I earned my reputation.. but most of what earned it for me occurred before I returned to MTForum. If U or anyone takes the time.. U'll see that I was, in many cases, egged on by a few dickheads who seemingly were trying to bait me into an argument that would get me banned again. During the time I was away from MT posting at GMI or CF.. I calmed down and returned to just loving cars.. and only correcting idiot commentary made by fanboyish fools that lacked logic or reason. Wings??? At CF.. I dunked that fool's head in the toilet daily.. but he kept coming up for air. I like that personally. I like a mofo who can take an asswhipping and still be ready for more an hour later. Some of the posters at MT.. and now here.. one in particular.. drives a Charger... would bait me so much I thought he was my girlfriend and he was gonna tell me he was pregnant soon. Then they would go cry to the mods to "look what Casa said.." People like that are straight BITCHES. either way.. f@#k the clowns.. lets talk about CARS. What'cha selling??? Well, I sold a new '15 Highlander and a '10 HHR yesterday, today's been pretty slow, though, thus more posting today. U work for a Toyota dealer??? Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, and the full range of GM. Our other dealerships across the state take care of Ford, Chrysler, and more, so if I don't carry it, I can often still get it if I really need to.

I get this, but it just seems like a mess. I don't want to have to match my (or my customers') car to my phone, or vise versa. On top of that, I see lots being mostly filled with Apple stuff, because they have more of a buzz, and leaving Android owners out in the cold. I don't think there was any need for OS specific head units, I think manufacturers were doind a good job with things like MyLink, Sync, UConnect, etc. This will just make it harder to keep the right cars on the lot to cater to all customers. Edit: I guess maybe I'm missing how this will actually work, can one system do either? I still thinks it's a mess of excess complexity, and I see that it is already showing a bias towards Apple. I don't expect this to be any kind of notable improvement on the current systems, just another way for Android and iPhone users to argue about which product is better.

Can't argue with the last line of that article. "Still, it would have been cool."

See, now, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, BMW, I get that kind of stuff. Luxury SUVs have been around for awhile, and these guys do luxury so why not do SUVs? It's a new model line, but not really a change from what they do best. Companies like Maserati and Lambo going that way, though...
