  1. Allison (however she spells her name, I feel like this isn't right)
  2. I have decided I would do absolutely nothing for a Klondike bar, they just aren't that great.
  3. I agree with this, after the last LG I had I vowed never to buy their phones again. I'm still open to some appliances from them (not a TV, but maybe a refrigerator), but definitely not a phone again, though I'd be interested to hear if the quality has improved (I would say no, because my wife recently got an LG she hates, but it's not near the top of the line for them, either, so I'll give them a little slack for that one). I have to say NO to LG products period. Daughter has gone through 2 LG phones before going to the note4 and had nothing but problems and repeat replacements of the LG phones. My sister and her husband own their own appliance repair business and say LG appliances are the worst to work on cheap internal parts and they do not last. Plus LG is terrible to work with even when it is a warranty repair. I have heard other horror stories from people about LG products also. So just say NO to LG. When I sold TVs and appliances we didn't carry LG, and I often had to correct people who thought that LG was the top-of-the-line brand in various departments. They aren't bad, they aren't Vizio or anything like that, but they're a decent middle-of-the-road company at best. On the other hand, they have a pretty good marketing department that has built their hype up very well, creating that top-line image that they can't quite live up to.
  4. What other vehicles currently have 21,000 or more pre-orders which require a substantial down payment? I'm more interested in this thing's release to the public than the Ford GT at this point, and that is one beautiful car that is going to be very rare. That GT will be an amazing car, I'm certain, but Tesla models will have more impact on the future of the automotive industry. Even if you don't care for them, they are pushing the boundaries of what you can do with an electric vehicle, helping to validate EVs as an option for the average consumer, and are allowing others to copy their patents which could result in better EVs from any number of manufacturers. Whether you are in the market for their vehicles or not you should be anticipating whatever Tesla does next because it is a sign of what may very well be the future for whichever brands you do like.
  5. Possibly not, but for many car buyers out there, it's still good advice. I know a lot more about new cars than I ever used to, but I'm still not ever going to be a mechanic, for example, so were I looking towards used I'd like to have someone more knowledgeable than myself along for the ride. I've only ever learned to identify one sound on a car, and that's when a tie rod is starting to go, I've learned that lesson. I love to drive, but I've never been mechanically inclined, my skill set just doesn't flow in that direction, and I'm surely not the only one.
  6. Same playlist, further down the line, just listened to "Castaway" by Green Day, currently have Queens of the Stone Age's "Avon" playing, to be followed shortly by "Go" from Steriogram.
  7. The Escape just does nothing for me, though I do like the looks of the Edge, besides, if I'm shopping in this segment the Escape wouldn't even be an option for me. Dropping the price doesn't make it a smaller more efficient vehicle, and that's what this segment is about. These buyers aren't generally going to care if they can get bigger for the same or less because bigger isn't what they were after in the first place. If the vehicle doesn't meet their needs then there really isn't a value proposition.
  8. I think at that point you've just made it a standard muscle car again.
  9. My first car was a five-speed Chevette. You guys have nothing to feel bad about. Now I feel really babied by my '95 Maxima. Btw, Kristin Bell played some really for lack of better words: horny, daddy issues, looking to get down with the first guy that winks at her kind of girl in Heroes. She played that role well enough. Acting wise okay, but I thought she's pretty. Any other comments would require me going into the pretty women thread. Oh wait, that one's gone... Yeah, I remember her in heroes. She was awesome. The writing on that show fizzled out really rapidly though. Massive plot holes, entire characters written out of the show, story arcs that dragged for an entire season that should have been wrapped up in 2 episodes... big mess. I loved Heroes, though it never rebounded the way it should have after the writers' strike season. I'm very excited that it's coming back. There was a lot of great stuff there, but sometimes it wasn't handled as well as it should have been.
  10. Falcon-wing doors are still slated to be on the production vehicle. One of the engineering hangups was properly sealing the doors and the body, which has since been overcome. I do love some crazy doors on a car. Maybe they're just for show and less about functionality, but I don't care, non-traditional doors are just awesome.
  11. I know what a LeBaron is better than I know what Veronica Mars is. I know it was a show, about something, and then there was a movie, and wasn't the movie crowd-funded?
  12. Little more oddball playlist today, previous track "Nugget" by Cake, currently playing "Little Acorns" by The White Stripes, up next "One of My Lies" by Green Day.
  13. Congratulations! I really like the Teslas, they just need to make more inroads towards profitability.
  14. Tesla definitely needs these sooner rather than later. They have to expand their portfolio if they want to get into that wonderful realm known as profitability. I really like what they're doing, and want to see them succeed, but the slow speed at which new models are rolling out is concerning. They also need to get that upcoming lower-priced more mass market vehicle into production. If they want to survive as a separate entity that will be a must. If they hope to continue operating as an independent company they will need these models to hit the roads and really take off. If they keep going as they have, mostly catering to a smaller niche due to their pricing and exclusivity they will eventually need to become part of something bigger as have companies like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and oh so many others. I don't want to see that happen, I want to see Tesla get some new things out there and really take off, for there to be a big 4 American car companies, but they have a lot of work to do.
  16. I agree with this. I think people that are interested already know where to look for a Tesla, this will just make them look desperate, and maybe a bit cheap given the limits of a store created with cargo containers.
  17. Like Magellan.
  18. Burlington, IA is where I was mostly raised and currently live. I've lived on Ft. Bragg, NC when I was in the Army, Killeen, TX when my sister was in the Army, and spent 3 years in Lansing, MI before moving back to IA this time last year. I lived a couple other places growing up when with Mom (my parents had 50/50 custody), but Dad was always in Burlington so I stick with that.
  19. There's one of those around here, and it always baffles me when I see it. Besides the fact that I feel like it should be too ridiculous to actually exist, I just can't believe that there is enough demand in this area to justify whatever the limo company would have paid to get the thing.
  20. Yep ... the government allows a lot to happen that it claims to hold those responsible accountable. False advertising being yet another example. Cort www.oldcarsstronghearts.com 1979 & 1989 Caprice Classics | pigValve, paceMaker, cowValve "Something's wrong in the world today" __ Aerosmith __ 'Living On The Edge' Many companies across many markets ride a very fine line with advertising, keeping things just on the legal side of true, while not being remotely realistic or honest. Yet people will fall for it every time. This is why I always found it funny when our instructors said that Americans one of the reasons we weren't allowed to run psyop on our own people was that it just wouldn't work. Corporations run psyop on the American public every day and it works like a charm.
  21. This. It has no reason to exist other than that it can, and that reason is good enough.
  22. I am going to try and have an open mind here, give him the benefit of the doubt, and not immediately plot going away to create my own forum that is invite only so that he can't ruin something for me again. I knew this was going to happen, but I had really hoped I was wrong.
  23. I think the Renegade is definitely something to watch in this class, it is sized with and will compare to the Encore, Trax, CX-3, etc., but they serve different roles. If I was shopping right now a Trax would be my number two choice for a new vehicle. I'd prefer a Mazda 3 hatch, but the AWD of the Trax is tempting, along with the available 4G LTE for my son to run things on his tablet. Encore is nice, but I don't need all that price and luxury. Renegade is interesting, though, and if I had any intentions of off-roading would give the Trax a run for it's money. It would be interesting to see Chevy offer a more off-road friendly version of the Trax, but it would need more power and I just don't think they'll do it. So if that's your interest, Renegade is THE choice in the segment. Interestingly (at least to me), the CX-3 loses something in styling when they take a small sedan and turn it into a CUV, and doesn't do enough to really stand out, so though a Mazda 3 may be my overall vehicle choice, Mazda's entry into this class is near the bottom for me. I'm not really at all interested in the HR-V for similar reasons to the CX-3, visually it bores me and it just doesn't bring anything all that new or exciting to the party. I've seen the Soul listed in some places as being a part of this class as well, but for it's sake I hope it doesn't get cross-shopped here. Easily the ugliest of the vehicles to compete there, plus the somewhat iffy Kia mark I think will have it lose a lot of sales to competitors if it has to match up with these.
  24. I really enjoy the Mazdas myself, and want one for my next car. Though they have partnered with Toyota, they aren't owned by them yet, so Scion still has it's place. Besides, Mazda is still more mainstream than the "quirky" role Toyota has tried to shoehorn Scion into. Although they are combining the two with the upcoming Scion iA, aka the Mazda 2 sedan. I do think a higher trim level and hatch make a pretty decent difference, but that's just my opinion. Commander control does take some getting used to, but once you do it is a big plus for the car as opposed to a negative. My only complaint with the infotainment system is the placement of the screen, and not where it is placed, but how it is placed. I don't mind it sticking out from the top of the dash, but the way they did it makes it look like an afterthought, like they put the car together, realized they forgot the screen, and just threw it on there. Just my two cents on some of it.
  25. I think once it gets enough damage you just own it and make it more awesome by going full on Mad Max car with it. That would be fun.
