Chevrolet News:Debut: 2016 Chevrolet Cruze
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
What is this obsession with AWD?? Most people just don't need it, and all it does is make a more expensive, complicated vehicle.- 64 replies

Derivative, bulbous looks and probably too much power for it's own good. Not feeling this one.

Chevrolet News:Debut: 2016 Chevrolet Cruze
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
Wasn't thrilled with the looks when the first leaked pics came out, but after seeing better ones, it's a very attractive car. And from the sound of the specs, it's getting quite the improvement under the skin as well. The current car is already very underrated and has held up very well in the market. This thing is going to be a winner.- 64 replies

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
Fair enough, but my point is that most people have no use for the things a Silverado does better than a Colorado. It had more torque, but it's no quicker. It pulls more, but most people don't tow with their trucks. It's larger, but most people don't need the extra room. I just don't get the appeal of having more of the things you'll never use, but less of the things you will. To each their own, I suppose.- 17 replies

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
I guess it's about as hard to turn down as a well-equipped 335i M Sport for a stripper 528i. Or a Ford Fusion 2.0T Titanium for a Taurus SE. Wranglers drive like $h! compared to a Tacoma even, let alone a Colorado. I'll never understand people's obsession with getting a car that is larger at the expense of features and comfort just to avoid spending similar money on a 'lesser' model. 8 years in the car business, and it's one of the dumbest things I've ever seen, and it happens regularly.- 17 replies

BMW News: Rumorpile: What's Upcoming For BMW's 7-Series Engine-Wise
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
Just give us a 4.6-8 V8 with 650hp in an M7. And crush the S6#AMG. -
Eh, I'd be perfectly fine with an older Boxster. Even a non-S.

P car.

Meh, I hope they make it a production Elmiraj, and I hope it kicks ass. Unfortunately, their other recent offerings seem to indicate they are still willing to cut corners where necessary to deliver a product at a price point. The Elmiraj CANNOT be accused of this. It'll doom the car. And 95K to start for an NA 3.6?? Laughable.

Well, both of the cars pictured are disgusting and wastes of a fantastic car. But to answer the question, generally speaking- stock. That way I can build it the way I want it, and I have more piece of mind it hasn't been ragged on.

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
Lol, not as good as it should be?? Should it emit gold from it's tail pipe and be able to be fueled by water or something? How one could say this isn't a great truck is beyond me. This truck completely rewrites the book for this segment. It took a market that was stagnant and stale and breathed fresh life into it by offering modern powertrains, options, and technologies. It beats the Tacoma is literally EVERY single measurable aspect. Better ride, better handling, better brakes, better content, better power, better mileage, better noise levels, better refinement. All for the same price. How exactly can you take issue with THAT?? People need to stop comparing it to full-size trucks. Isn't competition isn't full-size trucks, it's other MIDSIZE trucks. It's like dissing a Corolla because a similarly equipped Camry is only 4K more. And dissing it because an Avalon is only 5K more. And dissing it because a GS is only 7K more. It's a stupid argument. This truck exists for a very specific reason, to fulfill a very specific role. And it does so spectacularly. If that, combined with the fact it completely up-ended this segment and reinvigorated it doesn't define a great vehicle, Idk what does. Also, if you're going to argue price, let's be realistic about it. A similarly equipped Silverado is $12,000 more than a Colorado. Without incentives, you aren't coming anywhere NEAR a 4K price difference. Even when they are at their best, you're still likely to be a minimum of 5-6 grand off. That's not exactly chump change. When interest is figured in, that's $100+ more a month. Tell someone 100-120 dollars a month difference in payment isn't a big deal.....- 17 replies

GM does the best concepts hands down. I think probably the only ones close are Chrysler and Lamborghini.

Revisiting the Corvette Brand: Autonomy From Chevy Dealership
Frisky Dingo replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
In truth, I wouldn't use an LS1, either. They're not worth the extra coin over a 4.8 or 5.3 out of a Silverado that can be had for less than half the cost usually, with less miles. They like boost better, anyway. -

A LOT more BMWs have had "Chevy" small blocks installed in them than you would think. But those aren't serious BMW owners, just backyard hacks doing engine swaps on old worn out cars...a GM engine in a BMW kind of defeats the point of having a BMW. Idk, I'd love to have an LSx in my old E36. Blasphemy! I had an E36 M3 back in the day..BMW straight 6 all the way.. I mean, I'd prefer to do swap an S54 into it, but the cost discrepancy between those two options is......huge. -

I was happy that Porsche won. And in a manner that was the opposite of what everyone expected. The Audis were actually faster in the race, but had mechanical issues. The Porsches- two of them, anyway- were bulletproof. Bravo to them. Shame to see Aston lose both class wins that they had a virtual lock on.

Revisiting the Corvette Brand: Autonomy From Chevy Dealership
Frisky Dingo replied to Cmicasa the Great's topic in Chevrolet
I actually agree on most counts. I wholeheartedly think Corvette should be it's own sub-brand now. It's a no-brainer. I would argue against them being on par with Porsche from a fit/finish, material, and build quality stand point, but that can be easily improved upon, and the gap is much smaller than it has been in the past. I have a slightly different idea on prospective models, however. 1)Base car- Call it what you will, but make it a simple approach- 5.5 NA V8 with 400-420hp, keep options fairly basic and limited. Price it to start in the mid 40's, let's say 48K. 2)Stingray/Grand Sport- Basically equivalent to the C7 we already have. If we're talking next generation of cars, 475-480hp should suffice. Priced from 58K. 3)Hybrid model- TT V6 with electric motors powering the front wheels giving it AWD. DCT trans only. About 525hp total combined. Priced from 70K. The techie's choice. 4)Z06- Highest front-engined model. Large capacity NA V8 making 600hp. More focused than current Z06. Priced around 85K to start. 5)ZR-1/Zora/whatevs- Mid-engine layout, partial carbon fiber construction, RWD, DCT with +650hp NA V8 or smaller capacity TT V8. Start @ 125K. 6)No SUV of any kind or any thing remotely similar. MAYBE a coupe-like sport sedan a la 6 Seriec GC, A7, etc. Cadillac could maybe have it's own variant of one or two of those. Perhaps a folding hard top variant of #2 or 3 with more of a luxury slant, and then an even higher mid-engine model with over 700hp. All the latest tech to be as light and exotic as possible. I would go so far as to say the Corvette brand could even have a 2.0T or 3.6 V6 model under 400hp that came in under 40K. -
Nice write up.

The HR-V is going to be a sales juggernaut.

A few reviews: Audi A3, Chevy Colorado, Challenger V6, 2012 F-150
Frisky Dingo replied to Stew's topic in Reader Reviews
I need to drive a new A3. I love the Colorado. Never cared for the way F-150's drive and feel. -
It is expensive. And it is a dinosaur. But name one other SUV that go where this thing can in as much luxury and do so reliably.

2015: Buick LaCrosse FWD 1SL (Leather) or Chevrolet Impala 2LTZ?
Frisky Dingo replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
Think I gotta go Impala based on looks.
