  1. Please. The CT6 Platinum interior triumphs the boring ass A8L.. it is AWD. Looks waaaaaaaaaaaaay better than the tired VW look... It does have comparable HP especially when weight is levied in. f@#k Germany.. and f@#k German cars The CTS-V isn't AWD. And nobody but you thinks the CT6 interior is as nice as an A8. Styling is subjective. You asked why anyone would buy a German car at this price, I answered you. U answered why U would buy a German car. Sorry bud.. unlike U I refuse to be a groupie for Stuttgart, Ingolstadt, and Munich . The CT6 Platinum interior is as nice as the A8's.. It has every amenity, or damn near, that that POS German does. Even the American hating CR praised its interior as on the same level as the Germans. You lose a lot of credibility when you call the A8 a POS. Just saying. You like the Cadillac. Good for you. We get it, it's not a surprise to anyone. There's no reason to thrash other cars over your preference, however. It makes you look childish.

  4. Because the Cadillacs have nothing on the German cars' interiors at this price point. Nor do they have AWD. Nor are as good looking. Idk, there's a few just right off the bat. That said, the CTS-V was another option I strongly considered, and would be totally happy with. The A8L itself was probably my 2nd pick, with the CTS-V or loaded S8 behind it.

  6. First off, let me start by saying I think these numbers are deceiving. I'm in the car business, and have been for many years as many of you know. I don't believe for one second these numbers are indicative of a trend as a whole. The vehicles in question, along with the fact that these numbers are only one leases, among other things, mean this is only a small piece of a much, much larger puzzle. In general, women are NOT buying/leasing more manual vehicles than men. Now, to answer the question at hand. In general, I prefer manuals. In the vast majority of instances, I think the manual is more enjoyable to drive. In some cases, I feel like the automatic option downright kills the car- Miata, FR-S/BRZ, Corvette, Camaro, WRX, and many, many others. There are some exceptions, however. In some applications, I'd rather have an automatic- Hellcat, M5, trucks, etc. Manuals are definitely dying off, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. Not enough people buy them, so manufacturers build less of them, so even fewer people buy them. So it's a problem that perpetuates itself. I would have preferred a manual in my GTI, but I wasn't willing to sacrifice some other features to get a manual, so I compromised. It helps that the DSG is such a good automatic. If it weren't I wouldn't have been so open-minded. When I get my full-on toy for myself though, make no mistake it WILL be a manual.

  9. C&D just wrapped up another instrumented test, this time on the A8L. The A8L 4.0T Sport, to be exact. As it mentions in the article, the A8 sits in an interesting spot in the marketplace. AWD only, but still much cheaper than some rivals, it nevertheless has compelling performance and luxury. Here's the test for those interested- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-audi-a8l-40t-sport-test-review As always, you will have from 10% below base price to 10% over as-tested price to spend on a similar-ish new vehicle. Base price- $91,425. As-tested- $96,175. Rules- 1)Must be a NEW, on-sale production vehicle. 2)Must be a similar vehicle- ie, a luxury sedan of some sort. 3)You must spend at least $82,285, but no more than $105,795.
  10. I really wasn't trying to target any particular car, as my E90 M3 CRT/GTS and 458 Italia Speciale are off limits, too. I was just trying group cars with a 'large' displacement engine together. The 4.1-4.9 cars are kinda 'tweeners.
  11. I don't despise them as much as a Journey but for some reason I've just never fell for them either. I've always liked the Impreza/WRX/STI but anything else Subaru I've just viewed kind of as..junk.. I know that isn't a fair assessment. I just don't view Subaru as anything special outside of the WRX, below average interiors, average or below fuel economy and performance, but they have superb AWD systems. Maybe I just don't live in the right area to need a superb AWD system matched to fuel economy and vehicle size...? I really liked the Crosstrek when it first came out as well. It added some style and flare to an otherwise boring company but it's just kind of sat w/o much updates and it has one lone gasoline engine making 148hp/145tq. The Outback is just awful to drive. They're reliable, but painfully boring and vanilla. The CVT trans is terrible, fuel mileage is mediocre at best, they're underpowered. The VX Crosstrek could be amazing with a WRX engine and 6MT.
  12. So here is the counterpart to our 4.0-Up FI Dream Garage thread. As the title explains, we will use naturally aspirated engines of AT LEAST 5.0 liters of displacement this round. And yes, I know I skipped the 4.something class. That was intentional. Rules- 1)These are your only cars. 2)Production only. 3)Maximum of 5 choices. 4)Any era and market is allowed. 5)Must have N/A engines with 5.0 displacement or greater. Have fun.

  14. Idk how anyone could pick an Outback. I absolutely despise them. I think I might rather have the Journey.
  15. After much debate, I think I'll actually take one of the Journey's relatives- a new Cherokee. Built a near loaded V6 Trailhawk out to $37,775. Lots of usability, but still capable enough to have some fun with.

  17. Awww yeah, we're getting practical in here this go 'round. The fine gents over at C&D just got their hands on the Dodge Journey V6 AWD. Now, you might not have known they still built this thing. Hell, you could be forgiven for not being aware of, or fine tuning out, it's existence in the first place. But a hell of a lot of buyers find some reason to buy this thing, so let's see what you guys will decide to buy with your (imaginary) dollars. Here's the test- http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2016-dodge-journey-v-6-awd-test-review Base price is $27,590. As-tested it rang in at (hold your laughter) $34,660. So you must spend at least $24,630, but no more than $38,130 on a NEW on sale vehicle of the same basic genre. So no sedans, trucks, etc. Keep it in the CUV/van/SUV realm. Again, you have between $24,590 and $38,130 to spend. Pics-

  19. I was really torn between this and an S6 w/ Sport Pkg and not much else. Built an Audi out with $15 to spare, lol. It's the standard 19's and gloss white paint, so I guess I'd be springing for some RS reps and a vinyl wrap after purchase, haha.
  20. So in the same vein of the displacement threads, I thought this would be a fun take on it. We'll use a broader displacement range, but limit choices to vehicles that use forced induction. Rules- 1)Production only. 2)These are your only vehicles. 3)Maximum of 5 choices. 4)Any era and market is allowed. 5)Vehicles must have no more than 4.0 liters of displacement, and must be supercharged/turbocharged. Have fun guys.

  22. First numbers test I believe I've seen on the new XF. The old one was pretty enough, but never really captivated me. There's something about this new one I really like. As always, you have from 10% under the base price, up to 10% over the as-tested price to spend on a car in roughly the same genre. Going up or down a size is allowed, but no 2-seat sports coupes or SUV's, obviously. Base price was $61,645. As-tested was $74,785. Price range allotted- $55,480-82,265. You must spend at least $55,480. You cannot spend any more than $82,265.
