Quick Drive: 2016 Volkswagen Passat V6 SEL Premium
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
I disagree. I did not find mind many cross-shopping the 2 in the first place. People bought the 1.8 car- which really is quite good- for family toting and daily driving, and people bought the V6 car for exactly what this article says the car excels at- long distance driving. People who traveled for work or had long commutes. I had a lot of people switch from the CC to a loaded Passat V6. It's a no-brainer. While it lacks the slinky body of the CC, it can be had with almost all the tech, better ride quality, more room, and for much less money. That said, the car WOULD be better with an 8-speed auto. VW really needs to focus on making their next gen cars feel more Euro. The Passat is a solid car, but it's lacking in character and certainly not what a lot of VW buyers expect out of their offerings. -

Nobody in the business can underwhelm like Hyundai, so this should be about as fun as encorporating a cactus into foreplay.- 8 replies

2016 (all new) Chevy Cruze LT 1.4t automatic

True. It's a good car, don't get me wrong. Just not what I'd buy in the segment. -
Would You Rather the Black and Red Edition

lol that's essentially how I went about it.. But I kept the van. It's a gnarly van...what can I say... So what would you buy with the 120k? I'd prolly pay off my GTI, and then buy a used Grand Cherokee and a new C7 GS. -
2016 (all new) Chevy Cruze LT 1.4t automatic

After GM's slew of hits in the performance car category and the new Malibu, I had high expectations for the new Cruze. Was somewhat let down. It's a nice car, and it rides well and is now roomy, but not very enjoyable to drive. -
I really liked the new Volt. Got to take one for a very nice drive through highway, city, and back road driving and came away really impressed. There are some glaring omissions as far as features go, as you mentioned, but overall, a very solid car. I would have one over a Prius by a country mile.

The G Wagen. The I'd sell it and buy a nice little ensemble to replace it with. -
Holy Crap The Ford GT Is On Pole For Le Mans!
Frisky Dingo replied to FordCosworth's topic in The Lounge
ACO is definitely screwing up on BOP on some teams. The Ford GT and Ferrari 488 enjoyed a clear advantage at LeMans. I personally think the BOP is garbage for GTE. There's no point in giving waivers for teams to skirt rules- Corvette C7R, BMW Z4 GT3, etc- only to dumb them back down to a 'level playing field'. Leave BOP to the GT3/GT Am division. GTE needs to have a rule where production engines must be used, regardless of displacement, induction, etc, and keep them in their factory location and factory size. Then, just limit power output. The best will come to the top. Constantly changing air restrictor size, adding weight, and altering fuel tank size is obviously ineffective. Just my .02 As for the 24hr race, I was obviously rooting for Porsche, but I have to say, it was heartbreaking to see Toyota lose it on the last lap. And then to add insult to injury, end up with a Non-Classified finish. Just goes to show, reliability trumps all in endurance racing. At least Porsche picked up the win, rather than Audi. -
About time. The main thing I always disliked about the V Series cars in particular was all the bright chrome trim. Looks cheap and tacky. This is much better, though I'd still prefer gloss black. I'm back at a GM dealer that keeps a decent amount of V's in stock, and I have to say, they are growing on me. I can't wait to get the chance to drive one.

Ugh. They're terrible. Every time I see one, I wish I had something to throw out my window at it.

The new Malibu's interior is fine. Abs the rest of the package easily makes up for any shortcoming. I'd be curious to hear what midsize sedan you think has the best interior.

What have we done? 2016 Malibu 1LT 1.5t
Frisky Dingo replied to regfootball's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
I don't get all the hype on the Mazda 6. The Malibu is easily a better car. Much nicer, offers greater power, and Mazda fanboys may not want to hear it, but it drives better, too. Nice pick, enjoy. -
What Would Buy Instead- Jeep Grand Cherokee Edition
Frisky Dingo replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
This was easy for me, I'm keeping it in the Jeep family, believe it or not. I built a new 75th Anniversary Limited Hemi 4x4 with those gorgeous matte bronze details out to $48,860. That's a lot of damn vehicle for the money.
