I wanted to get this up yesterday, in honor of 9/11, but I was having internet issues at my house. I know these usually adhere to a very strict set of rules, but I'm going to play a little looser with this round. I'm giving you 10(!) choices, so build your list with the most freedom-ringing, pavement-pulverizing, bad-attitude machines you can! Rules- 1) Maximum of 10 cars. 2) These are your ONLY vehicles. 3) Only Domestic-branded cars sold in YOUR market. 4) Any era is allowed. 5) You can choose a maximum of 2 special cars- concepts, one-off builds, etc. Have fun and Happy 'Murica!!

Great lists, guys! Ccap, the CC technically shouldn't make the cut. The Passat fulfills that role for VW. Also, no LX cars.

Frisky's Personal GTI Long Term Review
Frisky Dingo replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in Reader Reviews
I'd rock a TDI Sportwagen as a daily for sure. -
Lol, there's far, far worse things going on destroying the environment than VW's skirting emissions regs on diesel engines. That some people would think they should be punished anywhere near as harshly as those that are responsible for human deaths is absolutely despicable.

I'm still waiting on GM peeps to face prison time for the ignition deaths. And Takata employess, too. Wait, what's that? That's not happening? Oh, damn......

No Magnum. That's why i was careful to base it upon position in model range and place in market.

I was actually able to easily and quickly assemble this collection- Mazdaspeed 6- Legacy GT Spec B Malibu Premier Passat W8 4Motion Wagon Altima SE-R

Yep, I'm going there. With all the recent pieces on the decline of the sedan segment- primarily the midsize one- I thought what better way to honor that classic, one-time quintessential staple of American families than by doing a Dream Garage thread. So here are the rules- 1) It must have been a car for sale in YOUR market. 2) Any era is allowed. 3) It must be a mainstream brand, midsize family sedan. No compacts, full-sizes, etc. Ignore EPA ratings. We will use model hierarchy and position in market place. 4) Maximum of 5 cars. 5) Try to make these cars fulfill as many roles as possible- sport, family hauling, etc. EDIT- I WILL ALSO ALLOW WAGON/SPORTBACK VARIANTS OF SAID VEHICLES

Industry News: Midsize Sedans Are Experiencing Sales Freefall
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
The Impala needs to become the next SS/Caprice replacement as someone said. There's no point for the car to exist in it's current state. The Malibu is a better car. The Sonic could honestly go away. It's caught in the middle ground between Cruze and Spark- which is now a fine little car- outdated, and offers nothing compelling compared to similar rivals. Regarding sedans in general, I think most makers would do best to condense their sedans into two segments. Make a full-size car- the size of the roomier midsizers on the market now- and compact- the size of Cruze, Corolla, Jetta, etc. Sedans are just too small to go further below that. Make a small hatch if you will- Fiesta, Polo, Spark, etc. It'd be nice to see makers start focusing on making sedans sportier with a higher emphasis on driving dynamics that way they have something to offer to separate them from crossovers. Imagine if the new mainstream sedan race was who could build the sharpest, most fun, fastest car.- 83 replies

I gave this one much debate, and as amazing a car as the F40 is, I think I have to go 488. By all accounts, it's one of the best cars on sale right now, and it's performance combined with it's looks and drivability is just too much to overcome.

I absolutely love stuff like this. Fascinating. R&T McLaren MP4-12C Development
-
@dfelt Absolutely. I'd never want a red Ferrari. Blue and silver is the best colors on them. @Cubical-aka-Moltar I like the 288 GTO more than the F40 as well.

An AWD widebody Hellcat would have been $&^ing ridiculous in the best way possible. They should do it. They could charge whatever they wanted for it. Just throw everything at- ceramic brakes, lightweight forged wheels, active suspension, high grade leather, real premium audio system, the works. Charge 80-90K for it. They'd sell every one they built.

What Would You Buy Instead: Mercedes C300 Coupe Edition

Yeah, silver, grey, and any about hue of blue- especially deep- are my favorite colors to pair with brown interior. -

@dfelt I love that Kona interior. I'd have to pair with something lighter and with more contrast on the outside, though. Maybe Pearl White or Silver, or even Grey. -
Along with the "What Would You Buy Instead?" threads, I thought I'd bring this one back, too. Today we're focusing on two of the greatest cars to ever wear the famed Prancing Horse badge, but from two very different times. The two cars themselves are also very different, but have some glaring similarities. Both cars use small displacement turbocharged V8's mounted midship, both deliver(ed) stunning performance in their day, but they hail from different eras, and are obvious products of such. So, would you rather have..... Ferrari F40 or 488 GTB Remember, you cannot pick a different car, you cannot choose one and sell it, etc!!!

What Would You Buy Instead: Mercedes C300 Coupe Edition
Frisky Dingo replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
The Mustang GT is too lacking in power and refinement for me to want to DD. The 435i is nice and comfy, but rather boring. I've never driven an S5 actually, but I like the A5 in 2.0T guise, and I've driven B8 S4's, and I like them. I have nothing against the Camaro SS, but it just doesn't really do it for me for some reason. I forgot about the GT350, though it breaks out of the price range. It'd be admittedly very hard to choose an M2 over one. I'd have to drive the 2 make that call. Cayman wouldn't have made the cut since it's a 2-seater. They need a new 928 stat. -
What Would You Buy Instead: Mercedes C300 Coupe Edition
Frisky Dingo replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
Well, that was easy- BMW M2 M2 in Mineral Grey w/ 6MT for $54,795. A new S5 6MT w/ nothing but Black Optic Package for $54,995 would be second choice. -
C&D just got up their test on the new MB C Coupe- C&D MB C300 Test - and had a largely positive review. This is a rather small, but hotly contested segment. So let's say you were spending between $40,000-55,000 on a new personal sport/lux coupe as a daily. What's your choice? Rules- 1)Must be a 2016 or 2017 MY car on sale now. 2)Must be a 2+2 2 door coupe. 3)Must be at least $40,000 and no more than $55,000 Have fun.

Audi News: Rumorpile: Audi Approves Model S Fighter
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Audi
Here's my thoughts on this one- Audi is killing it in the luxury game right now. I think their combination of understated elegance, AWD, balanced driving dynamics, solid powertrains, and stunning interiors really places them at the top of the heap currently. But. I wonder if their conservative styling might work against them here. I think other brands' more dramatic styling, greater experience, and higher emphasis on sporty driving dynamics may put Audi at a disadvantage. Maybe they could use such a model to break the mould a little, -
So, as some of you already know, I live in St Louis, MO. Technically, I'm in the suburbs- Ballwin. I've lived here for 6 months. Before that I lived a little ways south of here in a college town called Cape Girardeau. I lived there for 4 years after moving from even further south in MO- a small rural area Sikeston. My family retired there, and my wife's family is from there. But courtesy of the military, I've lived in SoCal for 2 years, North Dakota for 3 years, Texas for 3 years (split up over 3 times), Louisiana, Germany (born there) and few others for brief durations.

As the thread title says. And maybe how long have you been there? How did you get there? Etc. This would be cool to give an idea on how feasible a meet up would be, too!
