1) Hate to see the V6 go. Honda had one of the best ones. 2) Good to see they are going to still offer a manual. 3) Even better to see the CVT is not spreading. 4) The 10AT is overkill, though. 5) I wonder what this means for Acura?

2018 Volkswagen Atlas SE 3.6 AWD w/ technology
Frisky Dingo replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
Not sure. I drove an SEL Premium for the first time a few days ago, and it DID seem to be a little more competent. Could have just been the road, though. I think I am going to buy either an SE w/ Tech or SEL Premium. In Tourmaline Blue and w/ AWD. Not sure yet. I'm not going to pull the trigger until I drive the new Tiguan. -
There's no misunderstanding in how fun they are in such environments. It's just that's not enough justification to put up with it's shortcomings in other areas.

2018 Volkswagen Atlas SE 3.6 AWD w/ technology
Frisky Dingo replied to regfootball's topic in Reader Reviews
I agree with most of your assessment. We have had all trim levels of the new Atlas by now, and I've even taken one home for a few days for my wife to see if she likes it. I disagree with your handling thoughts. The steering is a little lighter and overboosted for my tastes, but I think the vehicle handles well and overall, it feels and drives smaller than it is. The interior materials are definitely one of it's weaker points, but it can't nail everything. As for where it stands in the class, it's easily right among the top players. Drives better than most of them, has better packaging than ALL of them, and is priced competitively. It's been a hit so far at our store. -
Ugh. And they will continue to make all of their sedans boring reinterpretations of 90's Buicks. At leas the X3 isn't going FWD.

Industry News: The Growing Trend Of Longer New Car Loans
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
But that's a credit union. Some credit unions will do crazy stuff that isn't a good measure of what your typical lenders- Wells Fargo, Chase, Cap One, US Bank, Harris, etc, etc will do.- 27 replies

Industry News: The Growing Trend Of Longer New Car Loans
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
It's not. Read my earlier post. It takes bullets credit to finance most 2010 cars for 84 months. We're not talking your run of the mill cars here. We're talking high-end stuff.- 27 replies

Honda News: Two Reasons As To Why the Civic Si Only Produces 205 HP
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
Well, no duh. This car isn't leaving a whole lot on the table, I can promise you that. Sounds to me like this Si should have been the Sport, and they should have given the Si a detuned 2.0T and dual clutch trans from Acura. The ST is towards the end of it's life, and is outgunned as it is. The GTI gets down under 3,100 depending on equipment, has 30 more hp than it's rated at, offers a significant chunk of what the Si offers as standard, and has much greater aftermarket support. As I said before, this car has a strong value quotient compared to base econo-boxes on the market, but it's not a full-on hot hatch.- 35 replies

Industry News: The Growing Trend Of Longer New Car Loans
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
As for that tidbit about 10% of 2010 MY cars being financed longer than 72 months- I think this skewed a fair amount by people with excellent credit and large income buying expensive items such as high-end sports/super/luxury cars. I also wonder if possibly vehicles such as RV’s/etc are figured into this. These vehicles are driven very few miles a year, and in some cases, may be appreciating assets, and as such, shouldn’t be indicative of a default bad statistic. I can tell you, people with low credit scores and buying cars with bad LTV’s are not getting 72 months on a 2010 year vehicle, let alone 84.- 27 replies

VW News: Spying: This Is the Next Volkswagen Touareg, Not Tiguan
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
The Touareg will definitely continue to reside atop VW's SUV/CUV portfolio. I just don't think it's that strange that it's a 2-row. Even Audi has the Q8 coming to sit atop their SUV line, and it's a 2-row.- 25 replies

It's unlikely they will be much, if they do any at all. Based on what I saw on the 2016's my advice would be to go ahead and move now, while there's still good availability. Waiting much longer puts your selection at risk. I would opt for the Sport. Great equipment, and a one year only production run.

For the record, this is what it's going to look like- Not what I think many people would find offending enough to be ugly, and certainly not a 'jelly bean'.- 25 replies

VW News: Spying: This Is the Next Volkswagen Touareg, Not Tiguan
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
Why does it seem odd? It's clear separation from the Q7, on which this is based. It's a no brainer. Make it 2-row, instead of three. Start it with a bit less equipment. Don't give it quite as much power. Price it cheaper. Boom, done. Makes sense to me.- 25 replies

Firstly, you can't accuse a vehicle of being bland and being ugly. If it's bland, there's nothing extreme enough about it to be ugly. Secondly, you can't even tell what it looks like, it's covered in camo.- 25 replies

That's a fair MSRP. It will definitely bring the track performance, but driveability and outright speed are not going to be strong attributes. I might go drive one for giggles.
