Fun!! Just a quick question- Will we have one of each of these, or will our selection for each respective class be our only DD?? In other words, will I have all my choices together, or each one on it's own??

Afterthoughts: What's the Right Size Vehicle?

Well, I didn't have a dog, but I am sorry about your inability to see past a badge and buy something other than a GM.- 75 replies

It's engine is absolutely not competitive in it's class, and lags in many areas much, much, much further than it excels at one thing- comfortable driving.- 75 replies

Afterthoughts: What's the Right Size Vehicle?
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Opinion
Lol, your very own link criticizes the car for it's lackadaisical power and engine. As does this one- C&D Cruze Hatch Manual Test Instrumented test numbers mean squat. In real life, the engine is wheezy, and as with nearly all GM offerings, the transmission tuning leaves some to be desired. There's lag, and a lack of power up top both. There's simply no excuse for such power delivery in 2017. And outright grip, again, mean nothing as far as how sharp, fun, and rewarding something is to drive. The Cruze is panned in virtually every review in this regard. I'm being extremely objective in saying the car lands squarely in 'mediocre' territory while most of it's rivals jumped the fence and landed in 'good' to 'excellent' ground. I like GM as a whole and openly praise many of their offerings, the Malibu one size up being an example, but the Cruze is just a rather milquetoast offering.- 75 replies

VW News: Volkswagen Touareg Disappears from U.S. Lineup Next Year
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
There will be models in both of those slots. For the time being, the old Tiguan will continue to be built under the 'Limited' badge, until an all-new offering is ready to take it's place, perhaps the T-Roc. There will also be a 2-row variant of the Atlas that comes online at the Chattanooga plant. -
Afterthoughts: What's the Right Size Vehicle?
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Opinion
It offers nothing as a particularly strong suit compared to anything else in the class aside from a smooth ride. It's slow, the steering and handling are completely numb and dull, and it doesn't really offer a strong value quotient. It should have been a Buick. It's like GM tried to take their philosophy of making a large car and apply it to a small car. That's just a confusing mentality to me.- 75 replies

The Cruze Hatch was a phoned in participant. A band member with no real talents to offer, but rather someone to just round out an ensemble for photos. For all of GM's impressive work in chassis development and performance in their RWD cars, they continue to show they do not understand the small car market, and are incapable of producing a compelling product. I wouldn't recommend someone shopping for a small car to even look at a Cruze. My .02- 75 replies

VW News: Volkswagen Touareg Disappears from U.S. Lineup Next Year
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
This is a shame, but it's no surprise. This vehicle was neglected for too many years, and wasn't given the updates and tech necessary to remain competitive in today's market. Combined with the price, it was a double whammy. The tooling for this thing had to have paid for itself eons ago, and I can't figure out why VW wasn't able to figure out how to lower the cost. They were 5K overpriced on the low end, and had no incentives to make matters worse. The irony is that since the Atlas came out, we have seen a lot more interest in the Touareg by proxy. Used Touareg sales at our dealer have gone through the roof. I don't have a way to get exact figures, but if I were to look at monthly sales, I bet they've quadrupled. And that's being conservative. I hope we get the next-gen model. The current one really is a fantastic vehicle that is just missing a few, but key, ingredients to be competitive. -

It's be this or the new LS for me. The MB while nice doesn't do much for me, and the 7 Series is a lame duck in this segment. -

@ykX Ah, gotcha. See that's kinda what makes these fun and challenging. A 6 cylinder car I picked elsewhere I may not pick here depending on the other vehicles I selected. -

Audi News: All New Audi A8 Brings the Tech and Pricetag to Match
Frisky Dingo replied to William Maley's topic in Audi
Audi just keeps killing it. Stunning looks, and that interior is beyond gorgeous. This might be the first and only competitor to rival the MB's interior. Not sure how I feel about the loss of buttons and knobs, however. -
Okay, after that great run of special DG threads from other posters- thanks btw!!- I'm revisiting the series I started based around cylinder count. Some of the greatest sports coupes ever built were powered by 6 cylinder engines of some sort, so I expect great things here!! Rules- 1) Obviously- IT MUST HAVE A 6 CYLINDER ENGINE. NO HYBRIDS. 2) Maximum of 5 choices. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Production vehicles only. 5) Any era and market is allowed. 6) This is a new one- IF YOU WISH TO DO A SEPARATE POST WITH 5 MORE CARS TO ROUND OUT A TOP 10, YOU ARE WELCOME TO DO SO, SO LONG AS THE FIRST IS YOUR TOP 5. I know some here really like these, so this is a bone I am tossing to them. And me.

I really wanted to use Pontiac or Chevy, but unfortunately, they just don't have the diversity I would need to fill a 10 car collection. Also, I'm including my DD's Raptor New GT Old GT GT350R Terminator Focus RS LE Falcon XR8 RS200 Mustang GT Vert Boss 302 -

Ultimate Dream Garage: Independent Day(s) Edition
Frisky Dingo replied to Frisky Dingo's topic in The Lounge
I could come up with a list of 100+ Porsches I'd love to own in less than 5 minutes with no problem at all. I'm not counting it. It was effectively two independent makers at a time when full scale MFR's weren't really a thing yet. -
Dream car garage.... No Cars Edition
Frisky Dingo replied to A Horse With No Name's topic in The Lounge
I could have easily gone crazy and picked a bunch of LeMan prototypes and USAF fighter planes, but I worked really hard to come up with an actual reasonable list. So, here goes- Unimog U-5023 Crew Cab (with a camper attachment)- For overlanding and off-road excursions. Learjet 85- For international travel; room for 8. Union Pacific Big Boy 4000 Class Steam Loco (with passenger car)- For cross-country scenic travel. Can Am Maverick X3 Max Turbo RS- Family fun on trails, etc. Ducati Monster 797- Solo street fun.- 17 replies

GM had at one time a 20% holding of Subaru, but the brand was allowed so much autonomy and there was so little effect from the ownership that I am letting it slide for the purpose of this thread. Nothing of Subaru's at the time was ever dependent upon GM's small ownership stake. Toyota has even less at 16%. How about we leave out the BRZ and call it squared up? -
