  1. I look forward to seeing VW I.D. models, and I hope they are well executed.
  2. These damn things are 10 grand overpriced, so this isn't much more than a gesture. And deleting the 3rd row seat to lower the price?? Typical GM logic.
  3. @frogger Someone likes Porsches, lol. Nice list.
  4. In time, my friend. In time. I have a future installment planned.
  5. Okay, guys, here is one that is going to have a tremendous amount of options, and it will be difficult to pare down the choices. I look forward to everyone's lists. Rules- 1- Choices must be NO MORE than 4.0 liters of displacement. 2- Choices MUST BE FORCED INDUCTION. That means, turbocharged, supercharged, or some combination of those two. 3- Any number of cylinders, engine layout, and placement is allowed. 4- Only pure GAS or DIESEL. NO HYBRIDS. 5- Production cars only. 6- Any era and market is allowed. 7- These are your only vehicles. 8- You 5 choices. As usual, once you do a Top 5, you can expand to 10. That's it, HAVE FUN!!!
  6. @ykX We did a 12 cylinder thread already.
  7. A 1 Series won't be bought by anyone other than yuppies trying to project a higher social status. Ugh. An Mk7 GTI will hand the car it's ass on a platter.
  8. Audi RS3- I5 Hummer H3T- I5 Up! GTI Bugatti Chiron- W16 Mazda RX-7 Spirat R- 2 rotor
  9. Gonna try my hand at this- Ferrari 599 GTO N> Ferrari 250 GTO N> Pontiac GTO (64-74) Y> Pontiac GTO (04-06) R> Holden Manaro R> Chevy Lumina Coupe (in Middle East mkt) N> Chevy Lumina R> Buick Regal (88-96) N> Buick Regal (11-17) R> Opel Insignia RN> Vauxhaull Insignia
  10. Nobody gonna take a crack at this??
  11. I've said time and time again, and I'll say it here- The answer has been right in front of them ALL ALONG- PUT A 5.3 IN THE DAMN THING!!! Not only would the lower price point and additional trim see additional sales, it would still away sales from the Mustang for people who want a more 'authentic' muscle/pony car feel at a given price point. A manual 1LS V6 Camaro Coupe w/ no other options rings up $28,395 after Dest. I bet the 5.3 costs them LESS to build. Even if cost the same, let's say they put a 2 grand premium on a 5.3 car with the same options. Put a proper- but not fancy E-thingy- LSD out back, slightly upgraded brakes, and summer tires on 18-19 wheels. That car priced at $30,500-31,000 would sell like gang busters. The new Camaro is great, but in the effort to make it more refined, and faster, and more capable, they've made the car expensive, and eroded some of the car's original ethos and philosophy. I looked at the new SS before buying my GTI. The 2SS is simply too much money. The 1SS still has more than I need without having the stuff I want. If I can't get the A/C seats and all the other goodies for an attractive price, I'd gladly give up a little power and outright performance to get a cheaper, but still V8-powered car. There is NO way I'm alone in that.
  12. I would argue long drives are one of the Jetta's strong suits. Lots of room, great mileage, good passing power, comfortable and smooth ride. But hey, what do I know?
  13. I'll give you the Civic, but the Jetta dumps on the Corolla. There is literally nothing outside of statistic reliability the Corolla can hold over the Jetta's head. Yet still a more entertaining drive, better value quotient, as quick and fuel efficient as the leaders, and more space than any other in the segment. What does say about the other cars? Not to mention you probably haven't ever even driven one of these.
  14. Okay, so this is going to be a somewhat smaller pool to draw from, but I thought this one would really make people explore and maybe uncover some previously unknown gems. I hope everyone enjoys it. Rules- 1) Production vehicles only. 2) Any era and market is allowed. 3) These are your only cars. 4) Vehicles MUST be a cylinder count previously not featured, or some other form of ICE. Ie- 3 cyl, 5 cyl, 16, cyl, rotary, etc. 5) Maximum of 5 choices, but you can expand beyond your top 5 to 10 if you wish. 6) No hybrids. Fully gas engines.
  15. No. Just no. The new Tiguan shames most others in the space department, especially behind the 2nd row. I've had them open alongside pre-owned competitors, and in many cases, it's not even really close.
  16. So the lead in says, "Great engine and infotainment. Everything else is a bit meh." But then you go on to talk about how much room it has- which is best in segment, btw. You talk about the crisp handling and sharp steering, that even on this aging platform gives the front runners of this class a run for the money. You mention the excellent fuel economy. You mention the top-rate ergonomics and intuitiveness that VW interiors are known for. Sounds a bit contradictory to me. Also, although the materials themselves aren't exactly paragons of luxury, the fit and finish is of a high level. The car is on the tail end of a long life cycle, and one that was created wholly on account of American car buyers' tastes. It's no coincidence that it's the best-selling Jetta generation by a large margin. That said, the next car is right around the corner and being on MQB, to rectify this car's biggest problems and align it more closely with VW's larger philosophy and be a better blend of mainstream and Euro feel and character.
  17. Audi R8 etron (they did make a production model- 100 of them) E Golf SLS AMG Electric Drive (yep, they made these, too) Detroit Electric SP 01 Tesla Model X
  18. No surprise there. That said, the ZF 8AT is an absolute gem, and paired with the B58 in a lightweight car, this thing has some solid potential.
  19. New Passat will be 2019 MY and will be MQB.
  20. Yep, now we're doing EV's. Rules- 1) Production models only. 2) Any era/market is allowed. 3) These are your only vehicles. 4) Must be full EV. As in no ICE. 5) You can have 5 choices. If you can, you can round out a top 10 list after choosing your initial 5.
  21. I've known this was coming for some time. Our VW rep confirmed it a few months back as a send off for this gen. The wheels be different, otherwise, it will look pretty much like this. The red stripe and the bumper design are to fit with the GTI's trademark red grille treatment. The Passat already has some of the better driving dynamics in it's class, and turned up with new springs and whatnot, this should be quite the entertaining drive. Especially since the VR6 and DSG combo are quite killer in a straight line. I'll take this over a V6 Accord or Fusion Sport hands down.
  22. I tried to convince the Mgr of the Chevy store I worked at so hard to let me take an LT or LTZ with chrome bumpers and do a contrasting middle section color like the ones back in the 80's and 90's. I think it looks great!! But only with chrome bumpers, like a proper truck. On a side note, your dad's truck is a Ford, you can't go buying a GM.
  23. That's because there was a gap between the outgoing model, and this one which is only just now entering production.
