  1. Problem with the Fusion Sport is that yes it has the TT V6 and AWD, but to get all the tech goodies and options you are well, WELL, into the 40k range. i expect a nicely loaded Camry SE V6 to run in the 34ishk range. And 301 HP from the V6 and I am guessing roughly 600 pounds lighter with an 8 speed auto vs 6 speed auto and I think the Camry is going to be pretty even with the Fusion Sport. I love the fact they are still offering it and the NA platform is supposed to be fantastic. I would also trust the Camry more in the reliability department.
  2. Couldn't hurt. Sounds like a great choice to ring them all out
  3. Right now I am weary of VW, but would probably have more confidence in a newer GTi on the newest platform. All of those cars have such different personalities. I can say for me The SI is at the top of my list I like the look of the SI (the blackout treatment makes a huge difference), I love the interior and features, Power is fine, The ability to average in the mid to high 30s is major, and I like the fact they kept a cap on power to keep it reliable. If the Jetta was on the new MQB I would certainly consider it. It just depends on what ou want. The miata/124 just aren't cup of tea because of the size, BRZ and GT86 really intrigue me, but I don't know about winter driving. Luckily we have the best of the best right now in affordable and small fun to drive cars and soooo much choice.
  4. Awesome I certainly need to check these out.
  5. I am not so sure about that. This new SI is a totally new animal that comes with a dual mode electronic suspension. It is also so much lighter than, especially the ST, that it will simply turn in harder, especially having a true limited slip diff. Considering the last gen SI had hit 60 as quick as 6.1 (12 model) at 60 pounds heavier and a lot less torque, I could this doing a 6 flat or possibly a high 5 0-60 which puts it right with the others, or quicker in the case of the ST. It has a much better torque curve than the previous one as well.
  6. Another thing I have been thinking about, he SI has never been about outright power. It is about fun to drive, reliability, and FE at a great price. This has that in spades and is on my short list for my next car.
  7. I love my bug, don't get me wrong. Some of the little issues get annoying though.
  8. Well, has to do with warranty work. Got that nice messed up intake that effects the 2.0T engines. The bug is covered under the extended warranty, but time is at a premium right now to say the least.
  9. They don't offer the SI in hatch form at all actually, which irks me. An EX with the CVT is decently quick though with 0-60 in around 6.8 seconds. they have the Sport with 180 HP, but it is based on the LX which lacks a lot of features. I was looking at Civic Hatches this weekend, they have really grown n me, but I don't like having to choose between the wanted features or getting the manual trans. the ST never impressed me. It was barely a match for the old GTi which was in it's last year at the ime. And the GTi is the one and king of this sector, no doubt. I just wish the closest VW dealership wasn't so far away. That is being a bit of an issue with the bug.
  10. 205 HP, 6 speed manuial, and weighs roughly 2900 pounds and a real limited slip. The ST may have 252 HP, but is also nearly 3300 pounds. It's straight-line performance has always been kinda lackluster for the HP rating. (My Beetle Turbo can do the same 6.3 0-60 with 200HP and 3000 pounds as C&D's last ST roadtest). GTi is 220 HP, but 3100-3200 pounds.Though, it is certainly underrated I am sure. there is also the price The SI runs thousands less than those competitors and also comes with some very nice features such as the larger touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android auto, the blindspot camera in the passenger mirror, the limited slip, the adjustable dampers, etc, etc. It is a hell of a deal for under 25k.
  11. The giulia's numbers are not bad for being brand new and still building inventory. The real sales will start once the Stelvio arrives. The Challenger is easy. It is the only of the big 3 with 5 seats, a big trunk, tons of value for the money, the 15 updates to the suspension made it eel like a totally different car too. And the interior is simply the best of the 3 out there. In fact, it would halp the Charger and 300 if they got a version of that interior. Dodge is doing fine for what they have. The Charger still leads the fullsize sales, the Caravan is selling like mad for being the older model. Journey is even doing well. They would do well redoing the Pacifica and selling it as a Caravan and killing CHrysler and Fiat.
  12. The Camry is what ist is. I never thought I would own one, but am now glad i did. Is a barn burner? Nope, the Bug does that just fine. What is..... Comfortable, roomy, excellent ride, feels m0ore solid at 85k miles than most domestics i have driven brand new. , fuel mileage that puts the EPA ratings to shame (averaging mid 30s), and I have confidence in it, which is a rare thing for me. On top of that, it is built right here in my home state and I know a number of people who work in the factory. As for the fun to drive part, TNGA seems poised to make it one of the most engaging in the midsize arena.
  13. Problem with that Focus RS and those, is that why they are decently equipped, they are not fully loaded. Touring in Honda trim is fully loaded. LED headlights, leather, Nav, etc, etc. All 3 will be in the 40k range once equally equipped, if they even can be. hond has some neat gear that is even standard on your bread and butter LX or SI, that these don't even offer such as neat camera in the passenger side mirror which activates when you turn on your left turn signal, or full LED lighting in touring models.
  14. me stop being sensitive? You are the one that goes on a tie raid everytime someone even says something that even be construed as a negative about GM, even when it isn't Get over yourself.
  15. The point is fairly obvious. people where acting like it will br wrecked Demons left and right, simply because it is a Mopar while C7s were wrecked in public before they awere even on sale. The good thing about the Demon is that it is extremely limited, the bad thing is that most will probably end up tucked away in garages.
  16. I am betting a front send similar to the GC/Compass and hopefully a more complete looking rear end.
  17. I doubt it. I don't see anyone looking at a 4 seat coupe looking at a 5 passenger Wagon. It is a good price for what you get. For the kit this will come with stand\ard you would end up with a 40k+ ecoboost or Camaro V6 anyway.
  18. What? the Alfa platform will go to Dodge and Jeep. The 4 cylinder turbo will also beget the Hurricane Turbo 4s. The 8 speed auto, of which they were one of the first to use, is still considered the gold standard of the industry. As is UConnect, especially the newest version that just came out. The hybrid system in the minivan is phenomenal. The Pentastar was completely redone for the 16 GC and Durango and that version will find it's way through the other lineups with it's MUCH improved torque curve and still doesn't need DI to match the others (though the pentastar is setup to accept it). The 6.4 Hemi is not that old and the Hellcat is still Practically new. The platform being used for the Jeep Crossovers is perfect for their use and provide the ability for actual off-road prowess. The main thing is that the economy is shrinking and that is going to effect car sales. profit is the number one motivation for any company. From this point forward you are going to see companies using platforms for much longer. GM has basically said they are going to be doing this from here forward. Remember, Panther lasted for over 3 decades, Same with the W-Body, Fox Body, etc, etc, etc. The important thing is not coming up with new platforms but keeping what you have modern. The LX platform may not be new, but it is still a very good platform. The 15 upgrades transformed the whole feel. I am amazed they feel like an Audi to me and my Brother's A5 was amazing in not only daily driving, but handling, and super comfortable of long trips. Toyota is a great example. the Camry is getting it's first all-new platform for the first time in basically 20 years, but the kept it fresh, where the targeted customers wanted it and they have maintained massive sales. Same with the Accord and Civic. All of GM's new platforms haven't been able to make their cars even close to the top Toyotas and Hondas that have ran, and continue to run older platforms. As good as the Colorado and Canyon are, the Tacoma, (which is still based on a roughly 15 year old platform, outsells them both combined. Your average buyer neither cares or even knows how old the platform a car has is, they just care about how it feels to them and the price they get.
  19. It seems to be working as they sell everyone they can make...... There probably aren't even Alfas in the thousands in the country yet......... The Fiat 124 sells very well for what it is, and the rest, well, it was obvious, though the 500 does sell similaqr numbers as it's competitors such as the Mini. Anyway, this was not deliberately so the government overstretching it's authority again is insane, though not surprising. And lets not forget how others have had t pay fines, not only for emissions, but for things such as, I don't know, purposely putting flawed and dangerous ignition switches in cars for decades? or the fact that all suits against GM for his have been green-lighted by the courts?
  20. So, GM should have to ship all it's performance cars to the middle east because it had a fortune to the government in fines over the ignition issue? Guess what. All manufacturers come to blows with the government at one time or another and generally multiple times. Anyway, this is a hell of a deal. Hopefully it isn't like the C7 Vette where the first accidents happened under testing before it even went on sale.
  21. New Jeep truck caught, has a solid front axle and coil springs. i think this is my new number 1 because a Rubicon version is sure to show up. ZR2 is still a close second, though the FE is shockingly low. Demon priced from 84,995, way cheaper than i imagined and gives me hop the GC Hellcat will be well below 100k, I am guessing 75kish. I hate putting the wrong engines in the wrong makes. The 5.0 (old or new) in a Fox is just where it should be. Same with an SBC and the Camaro. Now, there are exceptions. Imports (IE 240SK and RX7, with SBCs works because their home companies really do not offer a great V8 of their own. And the reason for the SBC in older Jeeps is ease of transplant and cheap availability.
  22. Love off-roading the Dakota. Yes she is old and could use some work, but she is tough as nails. Just good ole 4x4. No crawl control, no hill descent control, no stability control, just a good 4x4 system.
  23. The should just bring back the LM200. Make it Aventador powered since the original was Countach powered.
