Buick News: 2018 Buick Regal GS Shows Up With 310 Horsepower
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Oh, the 200 was an S with the V6 AWD and loaded would have been mid/high 30s. The 200 was actually a pleastant car, There are those of us that LOVE manuals. That s the Si and Type R being manual only and offering manual on the Accord are big deals. I wouldn't count out the Accord or camry out as competitors. Acceleration will be close and the Honda will no doubt have the best handling and feel. C&D just tested the Civic SI and it pulled .97G around the skidpad amazing -

The Regal is a reskinned Malibu, the only real difference is the V6 and AWD. base regals start at 25k, only slightly more expensive than starters for the midsize segment Buick is reskinned chevies. there is nothing that puts them in a different class. they are not pure Luxury and even entry luxury is a stretch. they ARE competitors just like the FWD Civic type R competes with the AWD Fusion RS and Golf Golf R. -

Not when I can get a Fusion a Fusion Sport for 35k with handling, AWD, and a turbo 2.7 that will run this off the road. A 200S AWD with just a few less HP could be had for less than 30k, you can get a Charger Scat Pack for this price. That is only slightly less than the Chevy SS which came basically fully loaded. no, i am not impressed, especially since things like the HUD, etc are extra. New Camry has 306 HP and will be considerably lighter. It also looks good ix XSE form and even comes with a HUD, loaded is around 36k and only the AWD is missing. Load this up to those standards and tyou look at at least 45k. The Accord gets a torque boost and while lower in the HP dept is supposed to be 200 pounds lighter than the already light current models. I would expect a fully loaded model to in over the Camry and SIX SPEED MANUAL!!!! EVEN ON THE 2.0T! The Stinger is a nice piece and has more going for it than a new entry in an already crowded and dying segment. -

Honda News: 2018 Honda Accord Enters Its 10th Generation With Only 4-Cylinders
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Honda
I am sure the interior will be available in other colors and the exterior looks pretty good in grey I think. I am very interested in the Sport 2.0T with the 6 speed manual. This is also supposed to be roughly 200 pounds lighter than the last Accord too. -

I really like this The 2.0 Turbo/10 speed auto one seems interesting I would not kick a 2.0T with the 6 speed manual out of bed. -
Agree I love the Sephia color on this and the challenger.

It is a real shame we aren't getting this here. It looks good and should perform real well. I think they are being sheepish on the performance figure since we are getting those numbers from the turbo sol with the smaller 201 HP 1.6 turbo 4. This could honestly be a real contender to the ST, GTi, and even the cheaper alternative to the Type R. Will be interesting to see the next Veloster though, even though the lacking symmetry annoys me haha P.S. i still hate the floating infotainment system........

Dodge News: End of the Line: FCA To Close Conner Avenue Assembly
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
They are actually updating their existing plants in the US, which is standard practice for manufacturers, instead of spending money for new plants that aren't needed. This is something that surprisingly lasted this long. How many mainstream manufacturers even had a factory for handbuilt cars in the first place.- 7 replies

Not so, they are a very popular model so they built a lot out before they quit building them. I used to prefer big fullsize cars. Whether when I was 18 driving a 91 then 93 T-Bird, or 22 driving my Roadmonster or 24 in my Caprice. I have been downsizing since and find the bug basically perfect in size, mostly thanks to it's hatchback configuration and massive amount of front seat room. I rarely have even a second passenger and there is enough cargo room for the weekly 52 bag of dog food and groceries. At 168 inches long, it is also so maneuverable and great for zipping through traffic. If the quality was there I would be keeping this car for a long time.

Dodge News: 2018 Dodge Durango SRT To Begin At $64,090
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Dodge
I and many others like what Dodge is doing. And nothing electric? They have electrics in their Fiat brand and a freaking hybrid minivan. He tech will trickle out, it just isn't needed right now, especially with gas prices relatively cheap. And the fact is car sales, especially in the compact and midsize arena, are starting to wain terribly. -

You realize the new turbo 4 in the Giulia/Stelvio that has great power and exceptional fuel economy IS the new Chrysler turbo 4, right? Jeep has lost a model that had huge sales in the Patriot and they are still working up production of the Compass, of course the are down, but still selling excellent. -

All the current pony cars are too big and too heavy. For a pony car, i would rather find me a low mileage Fox coupe and upgrade the brakes and suspension, and go with an all aluminum crate 5.0 OHV for further weight savings. I also love the GT86/BRZ twins for the size and low weight if I want something to really tear up the twisties. Subaru and Toyota really need to take advantage of the capabilities these cars can actually provide.

IMHO, little more than the basic design themes will stay. this is certainly going to be evolutionary, but look at the current and gen Silverado or current and last gen, and heck, the gen before on the F-series. Same design themes all the way. As for interiors, Canyon/Colorado/Silverado/Sierra/tahoe, etc, etc have pretty well identical interiors.

I really like the Arteon and am hoping for huge improvements there as it could be a replacement for the Camry in a few years, if the new XSE/V6 doesn't end up blowing me away. I love the Golf GTi and R. I hope we see an MQB beetle, but don't see how they could really improve much on the interior and exterior styling. i have felt the current model really was the best representation of the original Beetle since it came out for 12. The Type looks so much better in person than pictures i think. The details really have to be seen to really come together.

The Civic is a great product and the Accord is a good product with a new one coming that seems interesting, depending on how close the 2.0T is tuned to the version in the Civic Type R. Ridgeline sales are as horrible as I figured they would be and I wonder if the CR-V sales are related to the model changeover. The new one is VASTLY superior to the old one.

June 2017: Toyota Motor North America Inc.
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Sales Figure Ticker
What? their compact and midsize \sedans were pretty well at the top. Camry sold more than Fusion, Malibu, and even Impala added in combined. Same with the Corolla outselling Cruze and Focus combined, even adding in the Taurus for S&Gs. Same with the Tacoma outselling the GMs twins basically combined.
