  1. remember too, the last gen F-150 was actually all new in 04, 08 was a heavy update so you are looking at 04-14 on the same platform. the ram was all new in 09 so 09-19 is the same as the F-150.
  2. At worst it is going to be heavily revised, but at least mostly new. Some spyshots are even showing them with a wider track. Lighter weight materials will certainly be used.
  3. Interesting note, the Flex's last year is 2020, which should also be the last for the LX cars. The challenger was never about chasing lap times. It is a VERY different car from the Mustang and Camaro. Larger, with a real trunk and true 5 passenger capacity, the Mustang and Camaro are only setup as 4 seaters and the back seat pass3engers are pretty well tortured,. my bug has more backseat space lol. 2018 or 2019 will bring a brand new one. the last major refresh was in 14 which including modifications to the frame, engines, adaptation of the 8 speed, intro of the ecodiesel, and a very much improved interior, so it really hasn't been that long, especially for a truck.
  4. I don't get how you can say that about jeep and Ram? There is a new ram coming and the current one is selling great. We get at least 1 new jeep every year and we are are getting at least 2 next year with the Wrangler and Compass.
  5. It can still be Fiat Chrysler Automobiles as that would still be the parent company. Hell, what cars are badged General Motors? or Fuji Heavy industries?
  6. Really not anything new here. As long as they keep making money, why not? The patform the Explorer, Taurus, and Flex rides on dates back to the late 90s. As far as I know Chevy still builds the Impala Limited on the W body platform that dates back to the late 80s. Toyota Corolla? What, 2003? If i am not mistaken the Camry is still riding on the platform that came out in 2007. The key is to keep it as fresh as possible. in any case we better be getting some fantastic replacements for having to wait this long!
  7. There are lots of automakers I think could increase sales just b marketing their cars.
  8. Unfortunately this is not a stand-alone dealership and IMHO shows the reason why Cadillac needs to really set their dealership experience apart from the Chevy, Buick, and GMC worlds. Cue is maddening for sure. The interface actually is pretty good and easy to use and learn. If it just worked as advertised without the hiccups and freezing it wouldn't be half bad. And they certainly need to up their game to bring in more customers.
  9. I third this notion!
  10. I do agree it is pretty ridiculous. Still, for the price he got it for (less than half of what it would have costed new and a 15 with 4800 miles on it) it helps with the sting some haha.
  11. Like FCA some proactive marketing would be nice. The only thing I have seen VW advertising is the Golf Alltrack, like it's the only thing they sell.
  12. The Compass and Patriot are actually great little runabouts for a very low price which is why they still pretty good. That said, the upcoming Compass is superior in every way and i am especially excited about the Trailhawk version, which could be the most capable Trailhawk yet. The future of mainstream cars is the CUV.
  13. Yep, they keep having to do software updates because it keeps freezing up. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up replacing the whole unit. Other than that it has been a great car so far.
  14. Agreed. They could really pick up sales just by putting value into their brand. i think it is ridiculous that for 17 to get a Jetta with the 1.8T you have to get the SEL which is almost 25 grand! One of things that made the Jetta so appealing to me was the fact you could get the 1.8T and have a rather quick and efficient little car with not much money. Then they cut manual transmissions from all Beetle models which frankly sucks, though honestly I am sure that really has little if any sales impact at this point.
  15. My brother's ATS is already in the shop for the second time with CUE issues, 8k miles. he still loves his ATS though, just getting tired of the Impala Limited loaner cars they keep giving him haha.
  16. I think they 200 could have done better, but they frankly gave up on it. There were no real ads for it. i mean hell, if I was them I would have been putting out the fact that it is a TSP+ and the only domestic TSP+ as well. I would have also been pushing the Limited Platinum package which gives you leathers, the uconnect 8.4, power seat and heated seats for the price of a basic limited or under 26g and you could add the V6 and still be under 28k (which also gave it paddle shifters and nicer door panels). . C&D tested this configuration and pretty well loved it. I would have also put better tires on there from the factory because that was the major thing holding back the ride and handling and the ones they used were even noisy. IMHO, Chrysler will be gone in a few years and the minivan and cars will move to Dodge. The market simply does not support have as many car brands under an umbrella as it used to. IMHO, kill Chrysler and Fiat. Have 1. JEEP: SUVs with an upscale vibe and/or off-road capability 2. Ram: Trucks, commercial vans, commercial trucks. 3. Dodge: Mainstream car and performance. CUVs with a more sporting flare than Jeep. 4. Alfa: use this to take on the likes of BMW, Mercedes, etc higher colume cars and CUVs, 5. Maserati: op tier luxury, highest prices with a target for low volume. 6: Ferrari. well, it is Ferrari.......
  17. I have read 17 is the last year fr the beetle, even though they did a bit of an update for 17. they killed a few models and the 2.0T is only available in R-Line SEL which starts at 33k! They also killed some of the better Jetta and Passat models too. this is making no sense to me at all.
  18. I do agree there. They were really booming and cranking out some nice hits for a while. One thing that kills me about the Dart and 200 is that the midcycle refreshes seems like they were going to be very good. A Dart SRT4 FINALLY and complete with AWD! The lesser darts offering AWD and a turbo 4 even if it didn't completely replace the old 2.4.
  19. Ahhhh, very nice. Interesting story, my first time behind the wheel of a stick was an 01 Neon R/T. I did the clutch no favors and left quickly when i got back to the dealership haha.
  20. Oh, i love those. First time a V8 was stuffed into the Dakota Engine bay. There was also the Dakota convertible. ohhh, very nice choice as was the AMC wagon sir!
  21. The great things people dismissed that we will never see again. Used to love the Bonneville SSEIs too and even the Short-lived GXP with it's Northstar V8.
  22. Got to thinking, gonna pull the Riviera and replace it with: 200 Limited Platinum V6: I just like the basic look for some reason. you can get leather, the 8.4 Uconnect, heated seats, the V6, and even paddle shifters for an MSRP of less than 28k. It is also quick, 0-60 in 5.7 seconds per C&D. True, I honestly have such a quirky taste in cars there are many i could have included. The Aurora, the 98 STS, the last gen Elderado, the Lincoln Mark VIII haha.
  23. 1. PT Cruiser GT: Stuff the SRT4 engine and transmission, with larger wheels, better suspension and brakes, and some nice exterior enhancements and you have a decently fun little retromobile. Dodge Caliber SRT-4: This one was never popular and only lasted 2 model years. It may not be the best looker, but it provides a surprisingly good handling demeanor with 285 turbocharged HP, and big Brembo brakes. I kind of like the look too. Too bad it didn't make it to the 10 model year when all Calibers got a drastically improved interior.... The Amphicar: Not a particular good car, or a particularly good boat, but there is some coolness in it's ability to provide the ability for both. 90s Olds 88 LSS: Yes, it is pretty much the Oldsmobile version of a Buick Lesabre, but it did have a few tricks up it's sleeve such as the Supercharged 3800 Series 2 V6 in it's later years. It reall doesn't take too much output to make one of these a bit of a sleeper. Late 90s Buick Riviera: See above. There is just something about this big coupe I completel loved and of course I am a huge fan of the SC 3.8 V6
  24. It is sad because it is actually a very nice car. I thoroughly enjoyed the rental we had as they had apparently even sorted out the transmission issues on that one. I would still love to see them partner with Mazda as a version of the 6 with the latest pentastar PUG would be a gem IMHO. As for crossovers and SUVs, this isn't only happening at FCA as everyone from Ford to Toyota, to Cadillac are pumping out and have plans for more CUVs while their cars don't see much in the way of upgrades. We are at a point where CUVs are nearly as fuel efficient as their sedan counterparts. Even if fuel prices go up, the jump towards CUVs and SUVS will not change as we are not talking about a 98 Blazer that can barely touch 20 MPG on the highway, but rather super fuel efficient CUVs such as the new CRV which i would be surprised to see rated in the mid 30s on the highwa with the new 1.5T. You have to make what the public wants as much as those of us that love cars may hate it.
  25. Was just thinking on my way to work of some vehicles I like that would make others go "WTF, why?????" Cars that may threaten your card carrying status as a car guy, but you like them anyways. Rules are few. 1. Up to 5 choices 2. production cars only 3. State your case for that vehicle like it was on trial for murder and you are it's only defense. 4. Have fun! And go!
