Chrysler News: NHTSA Investigates Dodge Durango and Ram 1500s Rolling Away
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
I see it as a remote possibility at best, especially since this shifter has been around for nearly 4 years now and this is just coming up. Remember they have to put a freaking chart in the new Lacrosse because people couldn't understand what is actually a simple shifter to use.- 16 replies

Yes, i miss climbing up into my truck. Haven't got to drive it for weeks though because either the weather has been too bad to get the dogs out or there hasn't been time. Also, i noticed getting in my brother's ATS the seats are surprisingly way lower than in the bug. I kinda fell in them haha. But damn the Caddy seats blow the VW seats out of the water.

The current model is still using the same older 2.0T my beetle uses. The newer version is considerably more powerful and fuel efficient. Of note, a manual 12 Beetle is rated 22/30 with the manual. I have yet to see a tank under 31 MPG on average and some as high as 33 and this is doing a good old fashioned hand calculation.I of course wouldn't expect that from the TIguan, but I would not be surprised at all if people are averaging the hwy rating or higher.

Chrysler News: NHTSA Investigates Dodge Durango and Ram 1500s Rolling Away
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
It was driver ignorance with the other recall. These transmissions give audible warnings, the light on the shifters, and 2 or 3 warnings in the cluster if the vehicle is not in park when the door is opened. I have used this same shifter on multiple vehicles and never had any type of issue. More than likely they are just forgetting to put it in park when they get out and ignoring the warnings.- 16 replies

Chrysler News: NHTSA Investigates Dodge Durango and Ram 1500s Rolling Away
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in Chrysler
Seriously, turn it to the left until you can't turn it anymore and ou are in park people. I have used these in the 200 and Ram and had no issue. It disturbs me that people can't operate an automatic shifter these days. God forbid those people try to drive something with a manual.- 16 replies

Ah yes, still like them. maybe when i am done with the bug i will consider an Avalon as a replacement. Don't get me wrong, I love my bug , but at times i just wish I had a lot more room and more comfortable seats.

So, I think I am going to take apart on my car and fix the window myself. I just hope my clumsy butt doesn't break something else in the process haha.

BMW News: A Tale of Two BMW 5-Series: 530e iPerformance and M550i xDrive
Stew replied to William Maley's topic in BMW
I am really liking the M550i xDrive. -
Depends on the 2.0t state of tune. If it uses say the 268HP version shich is also supposed to be in the Arteon it should be peppy enough haha.

I hope they change here because it is really horrible the way they do. The own The Chevy/Buick/Caddy/GMC dealership, the Ford/Lincoln Kia dealership, the Mazda dealership, and the Nissan Toyota dealership here, the biggest ones anyway. that said, the place I bought my car has the used only lot, bought the closest Mopar dealership, and bought the Ford/Honda dealership here by work so hopefully that will force the other one to up their game.

I do agree and everything is just guessing and hoping right now. I have one bi worry for he auto industry as a whole and that is the new administration, but that is a thought for another thread once I reach that 1000 post milestone lol.

Ok, maybe the ES isn't hat it once was and I agree the Avalon is a much better offering and it is even sort of fun to drive for a fullsizer.

I have no doubt that Chrysler is a goner, but IMHO Dodge will stick around for when they do get more into car production and to hold the minivans and more sporty CUVs that don't have to worry about off-road versions. It will be a while before it gets full strength though. I think Alfa has a chance, but the vehicles will have to be well built and op performers from the start. Fiat needs to go or at least completely rethink their offerings.

Even in the LTZ or Avalon you will find signs of cost-cutting that doesn't exist in an ES or XTS bothers of those cars. I despise the ES, but the interior and details are beyond reproach.

Chrysler is a smaller company than GM or Ford or Toyota. their figures will naturally be lower as they simply do not have the production capacity. The LX cars are 3 models made at the same factory which by definition has limits on how much it can build. You realize the target for challenger sales was 25-50k a year right? they are building way more than that and have actually surpassed the Camaro a few months in sales which is amazing as we are talking the oldest vs the newest. I personally don't blame them for continuing to make the X cars as long as possible because at this point they are cash cows. I am personally not so closed minded. they have a goal to be out of debt by 2020 so of course they are concentrating on their highest profit products and making sure they have the plant capacity to build them. it is kind of how everyone scoffed when they said they were going to concentrate on SUVs and look now as everyone realizes that is the future they all start doing the same. Try thinking beyond on the small-term/short term and think of the long run and long term.

i know an Impala is not a premium car, especially the old Limiteds that the local Caddy dealer uses. Hell, i have a Z71 ya know. it isn't like I am against GM but I do know they need to improve, especially Cadillac.

Congrats, but the point still stands that it needs to be a common thing across all Cadillac dealerships. And yes, i have experience with Caddy and AUdi Dealerships and know plenty who have experience with Benz, BMW, and Lexus (a lot who have had previous Cadillacs). Quit acting like you are better than someone because you have more money.

The longer it takes, the worse it will be. this change should have been made decades ago. Edit: Looks like the have actually delayed it 2 times already http://www.wsj.com/articles/cadillac-delays-controversial-dealership-plan-1479920782

But you only buy GM and have experience with Caddy dealerships. If you are coming from an Audi, Benz, or even a Lexus the dealership experience is going to be a major downgrade and will certainly effect your opinion of owning the brand as a whole.

Which is another issue onto itself. All dealerships should be offering a premium experience. Last i saw this was on hold because of push back from the dealerships?
