  1. Okay, I thought they were almost identical to their "platform mates"(?). They are platform mates right? CLS-E and A7-A6? I guess I thought they were identical wheelbase-wise.
  2. I've never friggin understood why people tailgate when there is PLENTY of room to make a pass! It can be so frustrating. All it does it piss off both parties. I want to drive a car with active cruise so bad! I'm just so curious how it actually feels when behind the wheel. I'm an avid cruise control user so the whole active cruise intrigues me. It just.. .workes. It makes driving in heavy volume at any speed much more relaxing. Nice...Nice... What kind of vehicle were you in that had it recently?
  3. I hear that. I hate that bikes have 21+ speeds. I use 4 or 5 max when I'm on a trail, I usually just change between planetary gears. Weird enough.. I typically will do the same thing but still there will be certain inclines that I will want a middle gear. And I'm rocking a 27 spd. I guess this explaines why cars/trucks are working on 10spds.

  5. Why are they aiming at the "gran coupe" class when this isn't a "gra coupe"? Wouldn't that mean E Class and A6? That is what those are both built on, correct? Aiming for the size and room of the bigger cars without the handling penalty (lighter weight, 4 wheel steering). The CT6 is building it's own segment rather than trying to align exactly with what the Germans are doing. Hmmmm.. interesting.. Kind of confusing by saying they are aiming at the CLS and A7 though.
  6. ..I know he's a hypocrite.. I've called him on it Many-o-times. He usually just doesn't respond at all to it. He does exactly what he hates other people do. Ooops, sorry I was trying to respond whilst that must have been posted.

  8. That is exactly how I feel about it. Nobody buys a luxury barge and actually things to themselves.. "I think this is a good weight". They buy what suits them, whether it be performance or the lux or the tech. If the weight is used right to give it a superb ride then they nailed it. But if it is more performance oriented then I think they missed the mark. People only buy the S65 to say they did. Yes they'll probably hoon it a few times, because they can. But it is a "because they can" type of thing.
  9. If your point was that Ford follows where GM leads then by all means, prattle on :D Fanboy of the year statement? lol I don't force him to post silly PR posts, nor do I force him to write dismissive replies when he's called on them. But sho' 'nuff I'll point out how ridiculous he looks when he does it. ..but to say Ford follows where GM leads.. is quite the fanboyism. Correcting is one thing, Preaching about the ole holy GM is another.
  10. I drive one fairly regularly(or at least am in one) as the gf has one. It's an older g500(2005, measly 290hp - underpowered imo). The only rattle is an exhaust shield, which happens when a vehicle is 10 years old with 150k miles on it. Other than that it is built like a tank. From what I've seen it doesn't have poor fit and finish. Maybe they started slacking later in its life. Personally, I love the thing(if you couldn't tell prior to this post lol). The newer ones with a more modern driveline would be fantastic. I think one of the things I like most about it is its size. It really isn't a large SUV. It isn't tiny(obviously) but it isn't overly large and to me, I like that. I never felt overwhelmed by its size like other vehicles. You can very easily see out of it and know where the vehicle is at all times.

  12. This is actually pretty cool. Could you throw in the Germans as well actually..?
  13. lol.. right back at the "FWD" platform.. As far as a true luxury(not luxury sports sedan) a FWD architecture makes more sense by giving more room to the interior for a given footprint. If it is going for the "quiet luxury" then the driven wheels means absolutely nothing at all. It will be all about pampering, correct? If you're sitting shotgun in a car going the speed limit do you honestly care about which wheels have power going to them? As long as the people inside the cabin are being pampered.
  14. 400hp in an AWD car.. and it's supposed to be running through the fancy AWD system of the Focus RS so it should still be able to get the power down(all 400hp) pretty easily. I don't doubt that the car will be competent. What I doubt very much is Lincoln's ability to make a production version that will distinguish itself. I already mentioned that this is nearly identical to the XTS-VSport in concept. And look how it turned out. Drew mentioned that the pricing should be competitive with the Koreans in he segment-ouch for prestige. And wings shot himself in the foot once again with his failed diss of the CT6's styling. I am glad to be in a place where I can criticize without being accused of being a troll. I harbour no ill will towards Lincoln. But by the same token, I'm not going to blow sunshine up their tuckus over a concept car that is a rehash of a failed product strategy. They. Must. Do. Better. How is what we saw not distinguishable? You would know from a decent distance what that car is if it were coming up on you. And we've only seen pictures. It is similar in design to the XTS in concept but it is standard AWD and 400hp. Whereas the XTS is 306hp and FWD. The only thing that is similar is that they are on a FWD ARCHITECTURE. And that is literally the only thing you can continue to harp on.. It isn’t even FWD. it is only going to be FWD when the cruise control is set. Other than that it will be continually modulating power to each wheel. He compared it to the Koreans for price/size purposes. Not in class and luxury and performance overall. He didn't shoot himself in the foot, it was an opinion. This is in no way a "rehash" of a failed product strategy. Everything about it is all new. If other cars take things from it, that's different. But THIS is brand new, everything about it.
  15. They were waaaaaay to vague about their reasonings for any of them, imo. Granted I like the F150 the most. But they didn't even give us reasons why. It is a fair amount lighter than the Silverado when they are comparably equiped(which is almost impossible to find an article where they are comparably equipped).
  16. That's great for a military operation. I don't see doing such repairs in the Saks Fifth Ave parking lot. Oh I agree, but it is still part of that look. Just like fake hood scoops and rear tire vents. Luckily most are going away from the fake crap but at least they are still functional.
  17. Yeah, I want to bail on all that chrome as well. Other than that, I think it looks really good and classy. It doesn't look sporty, but it looks luxury.
  18. That's the thing too. 400 hp only? Why no V8? Any semblance of luxury MUST include rare hardware. Such as V8s to start with, V12s for the real expensive cars. I just think that this Continental is caught in a dead space. Perhaps the Focus RS AWD bones might give the car decent handling chops; but will it deliver utter luxury from its massive platform sharing? I think it can only be achieved through massive compromises. For one thing; I predict that the Continental will be a porker even more so than the S-Class. Not that Cadillac and BMW are about to prove cars in this segment don't have to be... V8 isn't rare hardware. Especially if it is in n/a guise. Then it's just a v8. twin turbo v6 has more fancy hardware and tech than a dohc di v8. While I love me some V8 I think if they are going for the sot and comf luxury then probably a quieter ttv6 is the key to that. Just my 2 cents.

  20. IMO, less stunning than that MKR(?).. and MB has had tinting glass for a few years already.
  21. Sorry. Technically, it has 7.9inches according to their website.. The G has 10 inches at it's lowest points(the Differentials) and 14 along the axels which are solid front and rear so it doesn't lose ground clearance while articulating off road, unlike the Cadillac. Digging into the aftermarket for performance completely blows any argument out of the water. The fact MB offers an AMG and Cadillac doesn't is my point in that. And adding a supercharger isn't the equivalent of a V Series. Cadillac does much more than just give their V cars more power. Oh, I agree that nobody will take them off road but that it is the same with a Ferrari 488, nobody will be driving them 200mph, but it can do it. The G is the Ferrari of the off road world(or Rover - they're impressive off the beaten path as well). I agree that some of the built quality isn't 100% where it should be for a 100+k vehicle but I think the exterior bits look cool. They look like they can get hit, broken, and easily replaced with another one(exposed screws). That stuff doesn't bother me at all. It looks the part to me. The miss matching stuff, not so much. I'll have to check the gf's to see if there are miss matching screws, but the dangly cup holder is the stupidest thing ever. Looks stupid and works like dog $h!. They sure could have come up with a better idea than that. 17911973 1093086
  22. Yup, they are still producing them for militaries. The US Marine Corps recently purchased some. I think around 2010..
  23. No... it's lazily retro.... Mercedes has left it to age like an old gym sock tossed on the side of the street yet... they're sales have been on the rise the past 10 years.. Remember, it is built based on militaty vehicles(it's original intent). They're very badass vehicles off road and there are very few vehlicles that could touch it off road, let alone with heated and cooled seats. Throw in the AMG version and you'll also be able to out run some pretty tough cars at the drag strip as well. I get a superior ride in the Escalade which has the heated and cooled seats before MB ever did them plus it goes off road just fine and you want performance, then just add the GM Supercharger performance kit and you have a V edition of the escalade. Yet even without it, I have not seen sales slow down for the escalade. You're comparing two completely different vehicles. The GL and Escalade compete. Escalade off road? That's a joke right? The front diffuser is like 6 inches off the ground. Yes you could take things off and lift things and add lockers and all sorts of jazz if you're going to go that route. The G has that all already. You don't need to "add a supercharger" or "take off the front diffuser". That is what makes the G what it is. It doesn't really make sense.
