    The Cadillac brand sold 14,154 cars. Lincoln sold 9,536 at lower transaction prices and they continue getting mediocre to poor reviews. Let that sink in for a while. I'm not going to disagree(because there is nothing to disagree with lol) but, the Lincolns, because they are(sadly) fancy Fords, their cost is probably much lower than Cadillacs(which are more unique - at least the CTS and ATS as of now). Still with a ~5000 unit spread I doubt they are making up for profits with the lower costs to make but I bet it looks a lot better on paper than selling ~5000 fewer units. Oops! This is the GM thread.. I'm done talking Ferds here. Well see GM has the Buick brand more or less using the same strategy as Lincoln. Buick sold 20,791 vehicles last month. Sure we can split hairs and say new Lincolns are a step more luxurious than Buicks, but then Cadillacs are a step higher than Lincoln. At the end of the day, you have 35,000 luxury cars sold by GM. As smk4565 put fairly succinctly, Cadillac makes great cars that lack proper marketing. The product is there. I'd rather be in that position 100 times over. i still have a hard time viewing Buick as luxury.. I guess I still have the mindset from the early 2000s with the Regal and Century.. Those cars were so bland and average. I realize the new stuff is much much better but I haven't been in a modern Buick so I still view them as just a Chevy with a little more leather. Yes, Cadillac has the potential to blow up.. As we have all said, they just need a bigger lineup and to actually get their name out there. I actually drove through a Cadillac dealer in my area this past weekend and I pointed to the ATS and CTS next to eachother and I asked my gf if she could could point out anything different about the two(without telling her they were different to begin with). She thought they were the same exact car. For some, that's bad. I personally do not mind because I think they both look really sharp.. Random mini story..

    Which truck gets the half frame? ..I don't want that one.. I don't think anybody here is qualified enough to assume where any of these global companies are getting their profits for. Or enough information out there for us to read. I mean all the different cab, bed, driveline variations with just one F150(Silverado/Ram) is actually very mind blowing and obviously every little option and variation will cost a different amount.

    Lmao, are you flirting with me or having a stroke? It's ok though, GM equally screwed the pooch when they priced the ELR at $75,000 the first year. I mean it's still overpriced now, but it's much faster and $10k cheaper than it was. Hahahaha uhhh...both..?(shrugging shoulders) ;) lol

    Lets be real here. Most luxury brands already offer some level of high-end customer service, and many car brands already offer 1 year or more of routine maintenance. The cost is built into the standard luxury markup. An MKZ's markup over the Fusion is already a bitter pill for many to swallow, but to charge even more under the guise of luxury service? Not buying it. How many rentals, oil changes, and car washes does it take to make a few thousand dollars worth while? I'll definitely agree with everybody that the Black Label interior should be standard. If they're trying to be a luxury brand they should have an upgraded interior where nobody will question the quality. Nobody will sit in and think "Fusion" at all. I don't doubt they do offer some kind of service but..what kind? I honestly don't know. I doubt the average BMW/MB/Audi dealers offer free car washes and yearly detail jobs. Oil changes on luxury cars(which they will also be performing all of the service at the X mile ilterval) are no less than 100bucks at a dealer. Plus you add in(as an example) tire rotation(common) and coolant flush at 50k miles along with maybe the serpentine belt replacement. I realize most serviceing is overkill on things like a coolant flush at 50k miles(or things of the like) but if you have EVERY service performed come times to sell or trade in it has to increase its resale value. I also realize the other luxo brands offer maintenance programs and such but I think that's the point. They are showing they are a true luxury car company(whether they are there or not is another topic). I appreciate what you're saying, but it still comes down to a $55,000 FWD-based midsize car. I wouldn't spend that on a Cadillac XTS or Lexus ES and they're full size with black label comparable interiors. There are levels of the MKZ that I like, particularly 3.7L models without a bunch of fluff. It's a perfectly good Acura alternative from $38-45k. I can agree with that. And I do know that if I had 55k to spend on a car.. it isn't going to be a Lincoln. And for the reasons you just stated(mostly the FWD based). Isn't 55k 5 Series/E Class territory?

    Trucks really are an extremely competitive segment. And that is why we ave such amazing trucks to choose from right now. And why Toyota and Nissan still have trucks over here and that they are improving on them(Nissan's new Cummins). None of them are bad choices(D3 at least) and none of them offer bad engines/tramsmissions. All of them will do the work almost anbody ever asks of them. They're just really good right now.

    An owner will only be able to notice if they came from one without the fancy roof and then got in one with the fancy roof. I see what Wings is talking about. It's like driving your car alone and then driving it with 2 people in it. You'd never notice te difference if they were always there with you but i they got out..you'd notice.

    Whew, look at those Colorado(and Canyon) sales! Very good month for the General as well. I've noticed both GM and Ford whooped some arse and best months sense 2006. Keep it up.

    I don't see the 55k THAT outrageous because that is a Black Label and fully loaded. I think some are over looking the Black Label part from a service and benefits aspect not just the interior quality. Free car washes anytime? Car needs servicing..They'll pick it up and give you a loaner until the service is completed and then drop your car off. About that servicing.. "covering all recommended service and including replacement of wear items."

    I filled up today at a shell on my way home today. Look at this spread in prices from regular to premium. I've never seen a .30 from grade to grade. Also, I always reset my mpg and trip for every tank of gas and I drove home(almost all 2 lane 55mph roads with only 2 stops and achieved this. Never saw a number that high. I realize it is a very very tiny sample size and as you can see I wasn't in a rush and only set my cruise at 52mph.

    Ahhhh now THAT makes more sense! lol ..has nothing to do with this really but I think that green on trucks looks really sharp. GM's dark green on their Sierra..Mmmmm.. Yes please.

    Agreed. Just one reason I don't like sunroofs in general. Weight, in the worst palce. Plus, could you imagine how much it would suck if something broke on that to the second owner 5 years down the road..?? BUT, this isn't a sports car. I think Lincoln has made it fairly obvious that they are going the soft, cushy, luxury route as opposed to sport sedan route. ANOTHER BUT, it does look pretty ballin'. Definitely something to show off.. but that's all I would ever do with it, and with that said. I wouldn't get it..

    I just tried to build a Canyon and couldn't get it past 45k without adding all of the stupid little nick nacks.. SLT, 4WD.. I guess I did have the crew cab with the short bed though.. but I don't think the full bed would add 5k.

    Well that is about fully loaded though.. There isn't a whole lot to add to the Z71, I don't think at least. You can take the Z to over $50K. There was a gazillion boxes I could check. It was a base Z71 model. Without the diesel option? Are you sure about that..? I didn't think this truck was thaaaat pricey. I thought I loaded up a Canyon one time and it was ~45k.. And are those the boxes like tonneu cover, floor mats, all season rubber mats, hitch cover, mud flaps, wheel well covers(extenders), cargo net,..? Those kinds of boxes?

    That is only the 2wd price though.. add ~$5200 for a 4wd model. Jeez. Why is 4wd/awd such an expensive option on vehicles?!?

    EXACTLY how I feel about that as well. They will knock British build quality along with everything else. Not just American stuff or not just Japanese stuff..or Chinese.. All of them.

    That's a very good point, actually. That's usually my starting point when purchasing a vehicle. And if need be there can be some massaging of numbers.. The $3700 price for the diesel option is a fair amount of options to be giving up.. You can go fro an LT to a Z71, add the 3.6L, and a spray in bedliner.. Or stay with the LT and add the "convenience package" and "luxury package" and then the ped protection thing which gives you a bed liner and tonneu cover.. Just other choices..
