Ummm you pick the wrong girls, man. That's a f@#ked up moral code, but I'm assuming she's young like you, so she doesn't "get it" yet. You can't have a long distance commitment and fool around on the side. That will never, ever last.

I like the MKC, but with the 2.3T. In the same way I like the MKZ but only with the V6. The 7+ second 0-60 sprint and mid-15 quarter mile times just leave so much to be desired in the $35-40k price point. I thing they're both very strong in design terms in the luxury class. Much better than Acura. And the push button transmission is infinitely better in Lincolns than Hondas and Acuras.

I wish the CT6 had a little more flair in the front end design. There's much better differentiation between the ATS and CTS visually than between the CTS and CT6.
-
I've seen the Sentra 1.8L/CVT brought up more than once because it fails to achieve it's lofty mpg rating. I'm curious about DCTs though, since they're mechanical operation makes them similar to manual transmissions.
-
And we're ignoring the large demographic of people that have a price limit set that they intend to spend. So they're either buying a $40,000 well-equipped Hemi, or a $40,000 EcoDiesel. For those people driving off the lot in an EcoDiesel, they are simply pocketing all the fuel savings.
-
I'm going to post the actual math: The 2015 Ram 1500 Hemi 8-speed is rated 22 mpg highway (NOT 25mpg) and costs $1650 to upgrade. The EcoDiesel is rated 28 mpg highway, but for the sake of this thread lets say it's 33 mpg in real life. It costs $4770. Price difference: $3,120 Here's the cost to own for 15,000 miles driven annually at $2.75/gal (for both gas and diesel for consistency). Hemi: 681.82 gallons of gas at $2.75 = $1,875 EcoDiesel: 454.54 gallons of gas at $2.75 = $1,250 $625 Savings annually. $3120 / $625 = 4.99 years to recoup cost. If someone drives 20k miles annually as many working truck owners do: $2500 annually for V8 $1667 for EcoDiesel That's $833 savings annually, or just 3.75 years to recoup cost.
-
You're completely missing the point of the link and the thread. Lets try this again: "Diesel owners reported 20-percent higher fuel economy than EPA ratings." The EPA numbers do not reflect the real-life fuel economy benefits of diesels and manual transmissions, as well as the weaknesses of turbocharging. Consumers are being misinformed and make inaccurate assumptions about cost to own.

There is no way GM is going to agree to a merger. They just ditched several brands during the bankruptcy to eliminate overlap, they're not going to start platform and powertrain sharing with 4(?) more.

Father's Day - what are you getting dear ol' dad?
cp-the-nerd replied to GMTruckGuy74's topic in The Lounge
I got my dad an Eagles concert on Bluray and the movie Kingsman. He has an amazing 7.1 system for music and action movies. -
I believe gov't representatives should be paid based on their constituent's median income in some capacity.
-
Yup, he has failed and left many with being pushed into bankrupcy all at others expense in building his own personal wealth. He is a man that knows nothing of how to build and grow a profitable business. He is no different than the Idiot Hillary and all the other DemoBots and RepuliRATS that also know nothing of how to work within a budget. So far 2016 is looking to be a year to pick the least of all evils as we currently only have morons running for president. Isn't this the same every election for ANY politician..ever. ? They are all crooks and liars. Well it would help if we all stopped voting incumbents back into office. My state is incredibly guilty of that. Plus all Gov jobs should have term limits. House and Senate should be able to do no more than 12 years or what equals to 6 terms for house and 2 terms for senate or we change both to be 2yr jobs or 6yr jobs and reduce the waste of time for elections. Agreed. Term limits are absolutely necessary.

You keep saying "people" are bad at driving manuals and "people" don't want to think about how they drive, but that's an American problem. Just like Americans are known for obesity. Manuals are preferred in Europe, with automatics relegated to people that physically can't like the elderly and disabled. I believe the roads would be safer if everyone under 21 drove manual transmissions because it keeps the youngest and dumbest drivers off their smart phones. However that's all off-topic. The point is that the EPA test procedure fails to rate certain drivetrains appropriately, and my personal beef is with manual transmissions getting significantly under-rated. Automatics are still not as efficient as manual transmissions, and consumers are becoming increasingly misinformed as it is.

His net worth is over 4 billion dollars, he's a successful businessman. I'm not saying he's THE guy to be president, but people need to stop voting with their heads up their asses. If we don't fix the budget, it's only a matter of time until the house of cards falls apart. We're already sitting on a student loan bubble on the brink of bursting. The next president's #1 attribute needs to be economics, and Trump wants to bring manufacturing back to the US which would be a big step in the right direction.
-
I'm not against Trump running for president and here's why: our country's biggest problem is economics. We have this idiotic mentality toward everything related to business (why the HELL does it cost less for our OWN companies to import their goods and outsource services??) and the national budget is the equivalent of ripping every tax dollar in half and trying to spend two. Donald's social issues might be weak, but 1) importance of social issues in elections is WAY out of control because the President's impact on such matters is very little, or none at all for state-mandated topics, and 2) Donald knows how to make a profitable business. His worst failure pales in comparison to the state of the national deficit and the annual failure of our budget. People are attacking him like he's the worst idea in the world, while democrats are pushing for Hilary Clinton with zero justification. She's a terrible leader, she failed as secretary of state and despite her tiffs with the Obama family, there's no reason she wouldn't be more of the exact same thing. If you want to shine a spotlight on morality, look at her sham of a marriage to a scum bag that was impeached, yet is glorified by liberals for an economic upswing he had little to do with, unless you count initiating the housing bubble to artificially boost the economy with money that didn't exist.

I'm not interested in pre-tuned vehicles. They're typically way overpriced, and you're getting a brand new car that's been taken apart and put back together already, not to mention the reduced reliability. As I've done with my own car, I want to drive it for a while bone stock and decide what deficiencies the car has and correct them to my liking. That, to me, is the essence of being an enthusiast.
-
Alright, then I'll start things off. I'm tired of arguing with people that the automatics Americans are so obsessed with are "more fuel efficient now" than manual transmissions. It's false, the EPA tests are biased against them somehow, maybe manufacturers are tuning autos for the test parameters, which would explain the poor drivability from factory but I wont get into that. I've been loosely following user submitted fuel economy of manuals vs automatics on a number of compact cars and despite sometimes WORSE fuel economy ratings, the stick shifts are significantly more efficient than their automatic counterparts. This article cites an average 17% advantage over EPA ratings when shifting yourself. On a compact car rated 30 mpg combined, 17% means it's 5 mpg under-rated on the window sticker. FIVE MILES PER GALLON.

http://www.autoblog.com/2015/06/17/aaa-study-real-world-fuel-economy/ I thought this was a pretty interesting article pointing out where the current test procedures seem to fall short. Most of us are well aware of some of the points being made, but it's nice to have some hard statistics on the matter to back up what we've known. A few key points of discussion: -Diesel owners reported 20-percent higher fuel economy than EPA ratings. -Owners with cars equipped with manual transmissions enjoyed 17-percent higher real-world results. -Owners of turbocharged V6 engines reported fuel economy 9-percent lower than estimates, and owners of turbocharged four-cylinder engines reported fuel economy that was 4-percent lower than expected. "If you just think about how those cars drive, a diesel has a ton of torque down low, so small throttle changes will get an immediate response," Nielsen told Autoblog. "And a turbo, conversely, does need to spool up. I can't help but wonder what role driving habits play in that."

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
Agreed that the 4.3L would pair nicely with the Colorado. Maybe in the refresh we'll see that and an 8-speed, or perhaps the new 335 hp LGX V6 if GM is totally sold on DOHC for this application.- 17 replies

The evidence has been there for anyone open minded enough to see it. The American auto industry has come roaring back over the past 10 years and caught Japan with its pants down. Even years ago I was reading a review of an American car, and they made a great point about the import bias in our country that's unlike anywhere else in the world: vehicles of this quality built by our own companies should be outselling imports 2 to 1. There's no excuse anymore.

Uhh... it's important to have a purpose-built stand for the racing wheel and pedals. My whole set up together was like $400-500. My girlfriend bought it for me for Christmas after she became a pharmacist. Normally that would seem crazy, but the G27 is a USB controller, so I can use it for any upcoming racing games on any system, and presumably GT7 on PS4, which I will NOT buy if it's still an updated GT4 roster.

Oh that's just a tiny list..And I agree with all of them I, obviously, always wanted an 03-04 Cobra, More modern and variety of the AMG and M cars. Also some Audi "S" and/or "RS" cars. Honestly, for having trucks on there..maybe more modern trucks as well. Definitely surprised no Cobalt SS S/C or Turbo(being it is kindof a ricer list of cars anyway). I wish they had More modern Mustangs as well, Camaro ZL1 as well, Porsche(I know it is legal rights stuffs but still..), Dang, I can't think of too many off the top of my head but I know there are ~20 cars that it surprises/grinds my gears that they don't have. Next time I get on I'll have to make a little list..lol I've never gotten to play with a wheel/pedals. I bet it's awesome. How does the clutch work in a video game? Porsche is sorta in the game, just under the RUF specialty brand as a loophole. The clutch is not perfect, there's no engagement point, the pedal has to be on the floor to allow a shift change or the car goes into neutral. It's still the most realistic racing experience I've ever felt playing a videogame. The steering wheel is leather wrapped and has adjustable force feedback and is a full 3 turns from one extreme to the other. Having a hand on the stick and a foot on the clutch goes such a long way. It also has aluminum paddle shifters for when it's appropriate. It'll ruin playing with a controller forever, haha. It's also a basic learning tool for people who have never driven stick, I even gave my girlfriend a lesson!

Review: 2015 Chevrolet Colorado Z71 Crew Cab
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Reviews
I think your price evaluation actually supports the Colorado. Your $36k test truck was LOADED. It had 4WD, Z71 pkg, V6, audio upgrade, and whatever else you said. A Silverado Z71, 4WD, crewcab/shortbox starts at $43,500 with cloth seats and 4 inch touch screen. Sure there are discounts. Say you can get $5,000 off. You still have a more expensive truck with less standard equipment. It's also going to get less real world fuel economy and be more difficult to park and maneuver as a daily driver. You can get a V6 Colorado for much less if you can live without the Z71 package or 4WD. Depends on your needs and your wallet, but this truck even loaded with options still makes a serious case for itself.- 17 replies

I've been trying to, but its been hard to keep up with all the news. I need like a summary of what has been announced. I'm a PS guy, so that's the news I know. -Killzone devs unveiled an all new game called "Horizon: Zero Dawn" set in a post apocalyptic future, graphics are gorgeous. -Uncharted 4 looks amazing. Nathan Drake re-enters the world of thieves to save his brother. -Ninja Theory, developer of Heavenly Sword and DmC (aka Devil May Cry 5, which I loved), unveiled Hellblade, a stand alone title about a warrior girl with a mental illness who's surviving a living hell of self doubt and hallucinations. -Final Fantasy VII is going to be the highest grossing videogame of all time. I'm calling it now. The crowd went absolutely ballistic, Square Enix kept the game 100% secret. Even game journalists were losing their minds over the unveiling trailer. -The Last Guardian is re-confirmed. Sony convinced everyone it was cancelled, it's almost complete! (Ico and Shadow of the Colossus series.) Other news... -Xbox is now offering a $150 premium controller. Whatever the hell that means. -Xbox is advertising backward compatability. -New Halo game -New Gears of War -Nintendo has another console coming soon beyond the wiiU -New Legend of Zelda game -New Star Fox title -Star Wars Battlefront III is well into production.
