I actually really like the rear-end redesign. It was too mundane before. But they really pinched one out with those changes to the face. Now the grill and headlights are really overwrought where the car was so clean and handsome before. Definitely see Acura in it, and not in a good way.

"That's Not a Buick" Ad Campaign a Success?
cp-the-nerd replied to cp-the-nerd's topic in Industry News
Do try to pay attention to the articles we write. JDN has already announced a twin turbo V8 and the time line it would appear in the CT6. The only thing that hasn't been announced is the specs, but even at 4.0 liters, it would be around 533 horsepower. I know there's going to be a small displacement turbocharged V8 in the 4L range, but never heard anything about a V6 larger than the 3.6L. -
My reaction exactly. Front end is a big mistake. What was clean and handsome before is over-designed and polarizing. There's definitely Acura in the headlights too. I really, really like what they did with the rear end, though. It was quite bland before.

From the Cadillac press release on the CT6 I read multiple press releases, they had varied details and were vague about the actual 2.0T application. I'll admit this one is more definitive than the others, but I'm still curious to see for sure when GM actually reveals the trim levels and engines. Why am I not surprised you're glass half empty about a Cadillac, you haven't liked the CT6 since the day it was unveiled. -

Again, where are either of you seeing the 2.0T will be the base engine on the CT6? I have not seen that anywhere, only that the 2.0T would be available as a performance hybrid. I'm still not understanding scolding GM for their base engines in cars released years ago when they were competitive, hindsight is not a relevant ground to judge. The ATS 2.5L served its purpose against other luxury base models (as did the eAssist), it's entirely likely GM will drop it soon, since the 2.0T/8-speed auto will match its fuel economy and costs are being recouped on the Alpha platform. The Lexus IS doesn't even HAVE 240 hp yet. The 250 hp A4 is NEXT years model. How is it relevant to say "The ATS shouldn't have been released in 2012 with a 202hp 4-cylinder because in 2015 or 2016, competition will have much better engines." -

The 2.0T has not been confirmed as a base engine in the CT6, what HAS been confirmed is a 2.0T-based HYBRID system that makes power like we've come to expect from German 3.0T engines. The 2.4L eAssist powertrain is now what, 4 or 5 years old? It was novel when it came out. 180+ hp and class leading fuel economy. The Lacrosse offers the V6 as a no-cost option. It's outdated now, but so is everything when you look at the end of a product cycle compared to brand new cars. New Lacrosse is only a year away. The 2.5L ATS is the entry level Cadillac. BMW sells a detuned, decontented 3-series as well. They're not glamorous vehicles, but people that want the badge can get it. Cadillac is currently in the design process of a completely exclusive set of powertrains, it doesn't happen overnight. All of this is information readily available if you weren't looking to jump to conclusions. -
This might be some of the best piano playing I've ever seen.

Buick News: Rumorpile: What's In the Pipeline for Buick
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Aside from the industry-wide trend in car growth, it would be he only logical way for them to insert the Adam into the lineup without having the Regal/Verano size issues they currently have. How so? The Adam is a mini car, the size of the Spark. -

cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Yeah, the article worded it wrong. The Lacrosse is simply going on the Malibu's new chassis, which is essentially a re-engineered Impala/XTS chassis for higher strength, and much lower weight. The Lacrosse will be full size like the Impala/XTS but will shave 200-300 lbs. -

Kind of embarrassing it came to this specifically because of the MT forum crew. -

CAFE has nothing to do with Cadillac not using Chevy V8s. It has everything to do with exclusive powertrains and GM's push to elevate their luxury brand. Cadillac has a new V8 in the pipeline that will slot above the 3.6T and new 3.0T, and wont be shared with Chevrolet, with the possible exception of the Corvette. -

Oh my god, can you imagine a GMC Canyon-based Cyclone? 3.6T, 4WD, 8-speed auto. Could probably even avoid the guzzler tax. -
The Trax IS sub-compact, and the Equinox IS compact. Correct, the only thing muddying up the sizing is that the Equinox is tweener sized. It competes with the CR-V and Escape, but physically is a half-step bigger, that's just the nature of the platform it's built on. That will soon be rectified. So this new one will also be a tweener most likely? just on the smaler side.. No, the new Equinox will be on a compact platform based on the Cruze, it will be sized directly in line with the class. The new crossover will be midsize like the Edge.

I've always been interested in astronomy, but never had a telescope. Recently picked up a pair of star-gazing binoculars (25x70 magnification) and spent an hour just looking at nothing last night, pointing the binoculars where there were no stars and marveling at a hundred points of light appearing everywhere I looked. When I was first getting them focused and adjusted, I just happened to catch a satellite in orbit. I geeked out a bit, haha. Can't wait for a clear night!

No real noticeable difference I think. Best thing would be to replace the OEM chip with a Jet Chip and their Tuner so you can run in OEM tune mode, go to fuel efficiency mode or to performance mode. I have to say that I really like the ability to self tune your auto with preset tunes or if you want to play with it tune yourself to get the type of idle and performance you like out of the engine. A Jet chip?! I thought those were garbage. They are constantly posting "25+ Horsepower! 5+ MPG!!" on their product listings.

Putting douche bags in their place is the best. I've got a highlight reel of those in the Malibu. -2nd gen Acura RL 3.5L trying to skip ahead of traffic in a merge zone. Something fishy about that 290 hp rating because I steadily pulled away from 0-70 mph. -Modded, lifted Ram 1500 Hemi weaving through cars and driving aggressively like a jackass. Made him sit behind me at the proper speed for a half mile after walking him from a stop with 2 passengers in my car. -Riced out 97-03 Malibu (of all cars, WHY??) in classic beige.
-
What kind of times were you and your friend running? That had to be super frustrating for him to have all those mods and lose to a Mustang just one gen newer than his!

Thank for adding to the stories thread. I'm trying not to flood it with my own posts so maybe more people will check it out.

GMC News: GMC Refreshes the Sierra for 2016
cp-the-nerd replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in GMC Trucks
That interior is a new color combo for the denali, also has different wood trim, and a new shifter handle. The light color option is sure to reel in a few new buyers, I'm a sucker for light/dark contrast myself. That's not a refresh. Considering this was the only Denali interior prior to 2016, I'd say it's a noticeable change.- 34 replies

I have a feeling that instead of V6 trim levels, we'll see the new 3.6L/8A powertrain listed as the Vsport. The 2.0T is plenty potent to serve as the volume engine and I doubt the Vsport would be much more expensive than the outgoing midlevel V6 trim anyway. Besides, it's better branding to upsell the higher equipment levels than having a salesman explain the V6 trims compared to the 2.0T.

The Minions movie exists because the studio wants to make a billion dollars selling toys. IMO the second movie suffered because they took time away from the good characters and overall plot to give kids more of the inane "fart joke" humor of the minions, but I'll be damned if it's not twice as profitable for them.

Wow. An enthusiast forum and nobody wants to talk about actually driving their cars.

The XTS is dying, and the 2017 Lacrosse mule is full size once again. It stands to reason we'll see a higher output version similar to the Vsport.
