That would be awesome. That engine with ~350hp and a manual would be incredible. And might very well render the V superfluous. Well it makes 400hp and 400 lb-ft in the CT6, so I dunno why you'd want to detune it from that. I wouldn't want to detune it, but they'd have to at least a little to not infringe on the V's territory. I'll admit this freely- if there was a V Sport with at least 350hp from the 3.0TTV6, and it was paired to a 7MT, had a good LSD and brakes and was under 50K, I'd buy one over any new BMW. "...and was under 50k" Not a realistic hope. You can't get that kind of equipment from competitors for under $60k. I do wish the manual trans would be more widely available. They're not even using the 7-speed outside of the Vette right now. Seemed like an obvious choice in the ATS-V.

I think you guys are oversimplifying. AWD = win? Despite the GT-R weighing 400 lbs more and lacking the tactile feel that is an important part of driving fast. The base GT-R is also down 100 hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. The whole argument is based on conjecture because the Corvette HAS won when the chips were down, but we're making a bunch of assumptions about average owners' lack of driving ability and how much that would affect each car. We're going to have to agree to disagree.

True to all that. And the C63 has the best interior, best turning circle, largest trunk and somehow the best EPA fuel economy rating, best passing power. I also would skip the carbon brakes and save $5,400. The Nissan GT-R can hammer a Corvette in a 0-60 sprint and beat it on a race track, yet I doubt the Corvette fans here would buy a GT-R just because it is has a good Nurburgring time and video game launch control. Cadillac has put the performance in the ATS-V, but all three of these cars are basically the same (imagine if the Lexus IS-F was in that test, it would be have been embarrassed). But the same issues the base ATS has with interior space, interior trim, CUE, etc are all still there. Really I think all 3 of these cars are $5-10,000 over priced, the base models of all these are like $35,000 and these cars are near $80,000. One point of contention: a $100k Z06 would DESTROY a $100k GT-R on a track. In fact, Motor Trend ran a 1:25.00 at willow springs with a Z06 manual and a 1:25.7 with a $150,000 GT-R Nismo. That's a stretch. First off, because the average owner isn't going to come anywhere near to duplicating that time as they would the GT-R's, and because the Z06 can only do it for one or two laps, anyway. I think more importantly is that the GT-R is probably easier to go fast with. Ask an amateur to jump in a 650hp RWD car and race vs a 600(?)hp AWD car and it won't even be a competition. The GT-R will work its AWD magic. The Z06 has its own brand of track hero wizardry in the form of the eLSD and performance modes. Reviewers comment that it exits corners like AWD. If MT beat the Nismo by .7 seconds on a short track, you're talking about a couple full seconds difference from the standard GT-R. The Z/28 beat the GT-R around a track as well.

Buick News: Rumorpile: What's In the Pipeline for Buick
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
The Regal has always been the sporty Buick. Per typical GM, a major problem is most people don't know the car exists. The Lacrosse is already a direct competitor of the Avalon and Lexus ES. -
Whose Audi is that? What powertrain is in it? Great pic!

It doesn't nip my opinion in the bud, it just casts the weirdest f@#king light on your forum attitude. Your Ford shilling is undeniable, EVERYONE sees it. I don't care if you drive a Dodge Caravan and love it to pieces in real life, what you post online for everyone to see is some of the most egomaniacal trolling I've ever encountered.

Much like Olds and other posters, I have nothing against Ford (or FCA for that matter), I generally like their products. You just tend to bring out the worst in everyone, not sure how you still can't see that after repeated bans at MT. Ahhh yes, the ban card is played as a way to ignore my point about hypocrisy. Pretty sure I directly responded to your passive-aggressive dig implying I'm somehow on your level of insane bias when I said I generally like Ford products. I'm friends with a number of Ford guys online and off. My lead guitar player is a Ford guy with a brand new Escape 1.6EB, we talk cars all the time. Somehow it never devolves into fanboyism like you bring to the table.

Buick News: Rumorpile: What's In the Pipeline for Buick
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
The 1.6T is a previous gen engine design, it's not going into any new cars unless you count the US-market Cascada as "new." IMO the Regal should get the 2.0T/8-speed standard at full power if they're going to charge $30,000+ to start. Buick cars need to move upmarket away from Chevrolet since Cadillac is working to discontinue the XTS. There's plenty of room for FWD-based luxury, they can't have the Malibu catching up to the Regal. no, the 1.6T he is referring to is the current generation. It is replacing the previous 1.6. The new engine family only goes up to 1.5L because of displacement regulations in Europe. You're not going to see the 1.6T used in the new Regal. It's a different engine family... not a new generation. SGE - 1.0 - 1.5 liters replaces the Family 0 and some of the smaller Family 1 engines. MGE - 1.6 liters in two power tunes replaces the 1.6 and 1.8 Family 1 engines. (Could, in theory, replace the 2.4 and 2.5 in some applications, but hasn't yet) GenIII Ecotec - 2.0T, 2.5 - replaces the previous 2.0T, 2.2, and 2.4 Gen II ecotec Not sure I'm following you, so sorry if I misinterpret. GM is currently releasing a brand new direct-injected 1.0L-1.5L engine family. The 1.4T in the current Sonic, Cruze, and Trax/Encore is being discontinued in favor of a completely new 1.4T DI engine, the Spark is getting a new engine from this family, and the 1.5T DI in the upcoming Malibu is also brand new. I will be shocked if the 1.6T DI sees any new vehicle applications in the US beyond the Cascada, which isn't actually new. -

Chevrolet News:2016 Chevrolet Volt Gets Rated By the EPA
cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
42mpg combined is what the writeup says. At least I took that as City/Highway/Combined - and the 42 was the "combined". I know it's 42 combined. A lot of hybrids, especially dedicated ones like the Prius, are higher than that. -

cp-the-nerd replied to William Maley's topic in Chevrolet
42 mpg on gas isn't particularly impressive, but it's important to note that first gen owners actually GOT the rated efficiency. A lot of hybrids advertising 45+ mpg can't say that. 53 miles on battery charge is quite nice, though. -
Haha Ccap, I was referring to the visual comparison test. Try getting a non-enthusiast to pick out an A4 from an A6, or compare the BMW 3-5-7 series.

The Cadillac brand sold 14,154 cars. Lincoln sold 9,536 at lower transaction prices and they continue getting mediocre to poor reviews. Let that sink in for a while. I'm not going to disagree(because there is nothing to disagree with lol) but, the Lincolns, because they are(sadly) fancy Fords, their cost is probably much lower than Cadillacs(which are more unique - at least the CTS and ATS as of now). Still with a ~5000 unit spread I doubt they are making up for profits with the lower costs to make but I bet it looks a lot better on paper than selling ~5000 fewer units. Oops! This is the GM thread.. I'm done talking Ferds here. Well see GM has the Buick brand more or less using the same strategy as Lincoln. Buick sold 20,791 vehicles last month. Sure we can split hairs and say new Lincolns are a step more luxurious than Buicks, but then Cadillacs are a step higher than Lincoln. At the end of the day, you have 35,000 luxury cars sold by GM. As smk4565 put fairly succinctly, Cadillac makes great cars that lack proper marketing. The product is there. I'd rather be in that position 100 times over. i still have a hard time viewing Buick as luxury.. I guess I still have the mindset from the early 2000s with the Regal and Century.. Those cars were so bland and average. I realize the new stuff is much much better but I haven't been in a modern Buick so I still view them as just a Chevy with a little more leather. Yes, Cadillac has the potential to blow up.. As we have all said, they just need a bigger lineup and to actually get their name out there. I actually drove through a Cadillac dealer in my area this past weekend and I pointed to the ATS and CTS next to eachother and I asked my gf if she could could point out anything different about the two(without telling her they were different to begin with). She thought they were the same exact car. For some, that's bad. I personally do not mind because I think they both look really sharp.. Random mini story.. Eh, try the same test with BMW and Audi.

Case in point: through April, F150 sales were still up 1% on the strength of previous gen sales combined with the new truck. Back to back to back months of losses put Ford where it is now: boosting incentives to stay competitive. But keep believing halted production back in the winter ruined everything.
-
I hadn't intended on dragging that conversation further, but since you asked, Ford had a massive stockpile of previous gen trucks built to sell during the production downtime. In addition, its been months since the new truck has been on sale, only this past month did they post significant gains and did so with a flood of incentives. Recent months saw losses of 5-10% year over year. So far Ford's billion dollar gamble is working famously for GM.

Nobody said anything about GM trucks before you brought it up, so I find it hilarious how badly that blew up in your face.

I'll take a V coupe with a stick shift. Please and thank you. It was actually an enjoyable article. I'm glad they didn't spend a bunch of time griping about the back seat and interior like C&D in that total fail comparo. I don't know whether the AMG truly deserved the win with a $15,000 higher price, but they were very kind to the ATS in the performance review. It was good press for Cadillac.
