  1. The drive by wire system isn't just to be different, it's required by Nissan's autonomous driving cruise control system.
  2. But looking at the bigger picture, you know I just find it ridiculous that people already criticize this car for things Hyundai definitely says it's not meant for. There's plenty of wealthy folk that are around the age of boomers, or are themselves that could find this car having a lot of merits. I'm going to keep an open mind, but where you call Hyundai/Kia's luxury suspension "soft and comfortable", many would call it sloppy and outdated. You don't pay top dollar (or near it) for a car that lacks innovation. The press statement said they're developing it on the 'ring, so we'll see. I'd like them to bring back the R spec as well.
  3. Will this lose weight compared to the current K900 and Equus? That's kind of imperative. I'm glad Hyundai spun their RWD sedans off into their own brand. It needed to happen. My only problem with them now is that their current RWD vehicles are just SO FAR behind in ride and handling trade-off. They're essentially selling the 15 year old luxury car formula with modern electronics. There's so much more to a Cadillac, a Mercedes Benz, an Audi, than just perceived luxury. The suspensions and powertrains are cutting edge. Korean luxury is matched by the bargain-priced Chrysler 300S and soundly beaten by a Chevy SS with magnetic ride control.
  4. Spill the story!
  5. Why would anyone want a 3800 in a new Regal? The 2.0T is lighter and makes more power.
  6. I got the sense that the review was written with a carry-over chip on the shoulder. It just felt negative for the sake of being negative.
  7. The one thing GM has done totally ass backwards on the CTS is trim level pricing. A midlevel N/A V6 model costs as much as a V-Sport. That's idiotic. I can see the top trim doing that, because then the equivalent V-Sport is $10k higher. Cadillac needs to get their pricing strategy under control. A base CTS V6 shouldn't cost $54,000. Especially now that CT6 pricing has been revealed at just a hair more with standard AWD. Just for reference: ATS base pricing: 2.0T - $36,240 (Standard) 3.6L - $42,335 (Luxury) CTS base pricing: 2.0T - $46,555 (Standard) 3.6L - $54,280 (Luxury) 3.6T - $60,950 (V-Sport Base) CT6 base pricing: 2.0T RWD - $54,490 (Standard) 3.6L AWD - $56,490 (Standard) 3.0T AWD - $65,390 (Luxury) Now why in the world is the CTS 2.0T Standard and V6 Luxury $10,000 to 12,000 more than the exact same ATS trims? Cut that in half and things make a lot more sense. Why does the CT6 2.0T RWD base model even exist? What person spending that kind of money can't finance that additional $2000 for a V6 + AWD? What business case is there for a full size luxury car stripper model?
  8. I though their "2.0T offers no advantage" claim was heavily exaggerated. The Malibu is the fastest 2.0T model on the market by leaps and bounds, while being just a few ticks behind the Camry and Altima V6 models and trumping both their fuel economy ratings. 6.1 seconds 0-60 and a 14.7 @ 97 mph is nothing to scoff at, neither is .87g on the skidpad. It's clear GM retuned the engine (minus 9 hp and 36 lb-ft) in a bid for fuel economy, and they achieved an EPA estimate of 22/33 mpg (not 22/32 as they stated in the article). The only car truly making the Malibu 2.0T look bad is the Honda Accord V6 with 34 mpg highway while running low 14s. There are no 22/33 mpg V6 engines besides that.
  9. 33k I meant on the oil, sorry. Lol! Don't apologize, Drew had a senior moment! I knew you meant on the oil.
  10. Hate to break it to you, but without the $20 rebate, those prices suck. At regular walmart price, I get a 5 qt jug for under $25 (not sure what the exact going rate is right now) plus $8 for another qt. I get my ACDelco rebadged Mobil 1 Extended filter for $11 on Amazon. You'd think Costco could do better on the base prices than that!
  11. Damn well better be extended interval if the cars are almost 10 qt capacity!! That's ridiculous.
  12. Mobil 1 for the Malibu 3.6L and 4,000-6,000 mile intervals. I used standard ACDelco filters until they switched to "e" series filters, which I found out are rebadged Fram e-core junk. Now I use ACDelco UPF-48R which is a rebadged Mobil 1 Extended Performance filter shared with the Corvette C6 and others. My fiance's Cobalt Sport (2.4L/4A 172 hp) gets run to hell and back between changes because of her commute so I use Mobil 1 Extended Performance and the standard ACDelco (because despite what I already said, it's an internal filter and an economy car).
  13. That is hands down the best looking Chrysler 300 I've ever seen. The ONE THING holding back the exterior from coming together and truly feeling premium is that big squared off grille smack in the middle of the design flow. The right tweaks to the shape and size could've really gone a long way. Oh well, the 300S V8 is an appealing package. Looking forward to Chrysler's follow up sedan, assuming it retains RWD.
  14. CF is the website Car Fanatics, a car forum created by former Motor Trend Forum members that got trolled to death.
  15. Kind of a strange intro. One word title and a grill gif?
  16. LMFAO!!! DYING!
  17. The Mustang is the new 2.3 Ecoboost, not the 3.5 I thought we were talking about 3.5EB reactions to different gas. As far as the Mustang 2.3EB, that's the most aggressive power tune for that engine's applications, isn't it? Other vehicles with the 2.3T make less power. Stands to reason that a more aggressive tune would lose the most power on cheap gas.
  18. If I had to venture a guess, I would say a big factor is that the 3.5EB is the oldest turbo DI engine in Ford's portfolio. There's an enormous difference in the technology now and what was being used to design the aging V6 engine.
  19. Don't forget over 100,000 of the new small/midsize trucks!
  20. I'm guessing a Grand Sport is around the corner, 2017 MY maybe? I'd REALLY like to see a specialized LT1 for that Corvette and the future Z/28.
  21. Options are pretty overpriced. Almost $5000 for non-carbon ceramic brakes? $3000 for suspension? $4000 for driveshaft? I'd rather just get a regular Z51 and put a few grand under the hood.
  22. A fool on the Malibu forum is trying to convince everyone that the difference between gasoline octanes is oil company propaganda. He thinks if the car runs on regular gas, then premium is pointless. And he keeps posting articles and "proof" taken totally out of context because he doesn't actually understand octane or engine tuning at a fundamental level.
  23. And of course a proper platform that takes longitudinally arranged engines.
  24. You don't know what you are talkng about. Actually he's presented pretty logical posts all thread. If anyone lacks credibility, it's you. The Continental is a full size FWD/AWD vehicle. At best, it will use the torque vectoring system offered in the Focus RS and MKZ performance pkg. Funny thing about the Lacrosse: its going to be FWD/AWD and full size, and the AWD system is the same advanced torque vectoring system used in the Focus RS. If GM puts a turbocharged V6 under the hood, the market placement will be nearly identical to the Lincoln flagship. The Lincoln brand's alleged superiority to Buick and Acura in the luxury class is totally fabricated.
  25. But here's the thing, the SS already dispatches the GT PP. I'm not sure if there is any incentive for GM to really under-price themselves. They could, and I feel should maximize their return on the Alpha Platform. Price it at the equilibrium where they get maximum profits, squeeze the living hell out of the margins and have a nice performance buffer that gives them the advantage for this entire generation. Either that or the Zeta Z/28 was hella profitable.... The Z/28 had hella expensive components. Hand built LS7, spool valve F1 style shocks, supercar wheels/tires, and carbon ceramic brakes.
