  1. This is probably the best angle and shot I've seen yet. The rear of the car looks far too boring IMO. People give the CTS crap, I think this design is even more bland in the back.
  2. That is factually not true. Look up "coma" which can be a few hours up to many years. Not saying that this case is not full of BS in that regard, but had to clarify that you can, in fact, be out cold for an extended period of time. You're trying to correct me here, and you're not understanding the context. The person in the story says they were knocked unconscious for several hours, and awoke in the car. That is medically IMPOSSIBLE. It's a phony plot device exclusively in movies and TV that the majority of people think is true. When someone is knocked out in a fight, their brain immediately "reboots" and you see them start coming out of it in less than a minute. If they do not wake up within moments, it's life threatening head trauma that requires hospitalization, like someone taking a full-on baseball bat swing to the skull. If something knocks you out, you wake up moments later a bit foggy and soon come back to a state of normal awareness. If something knocks you into a coma, you're fighting for your life. You're not understanding me. I'm not disagreeing about this case. The person is full of it. However, you said that you could not be knocked out that long without anesthesia and I simply said that was not true with an example of why. My statement was not in reference to this person's case, to reiterate. A coma is not an example of getting knocked out. That would be severe head trauma. People don't refer to coma patients as having been "knocked out." Enough with the stupid semantics.

  4. Lmao, knocked unconscious for 3 hours. This is a Hollywood myth and the case should be thrown out based on that alone. You can't get knocked out for extended periods without anesthesia.
  5. Chevy Exec Alan Batey had some interesting comments about the new Cruze 5-door when interviewed about the potential for a hot hatch or performance model like so many automakers offer in this segment. “We’ve really positioned this as sporty, and to appeal to those young, fashion-conscious consumers that are looking for something in the compact segment,” he said, with the Cruze’s 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine (with 114kW of power and 240Nm of torque) a standard fit for the US market. When asked if there is potential for a performance model – with a big engine – to come, he said: “Yes – for sure, for sure”. http://www.caradvice.com.au/408651/chevrolet-cruze-rs-hot-hatch-absolutely-has-potential/
  6. Yeah, I read that the two dealers filing the complaint have been under-performing for years, so they're not getting corporate benefits and as such, they have motive to lie. I'm sure an investigation will reveal the truth soon enough.
  7. LMAO. "We didn't understand the law." So their "honest" misunderstanding is that they were allowed to use a device to change the way their car runs SPECIFICALLY when connected to our emissions test? How about they just spit in our face and say "Oh sorry, I didn't know that was a dick thing to do in America."
  8. Acura Precision Concept: Fail I'm actually liking Acura's current design language for the ILX and TLX, as well as the NSX (which I'm skeptical will ever be released). This hideous abortion looks like Lexus was tasked with refreshing the ZDX. Just stahp. 2016 BMW M2: A Good to see BMW taking a break from the endless variants, 4-door coupes, and crossover sedan coupe monstrosities to build something genuinely appealing to enthusiasts in the way the best M3 used to do. Buick Avista Concept: – It's not a fail because it looks good, it has a great chassis, and solid powertrain. I just don't get it. It makes no sense for Buick and it will never reach production. Build the f@#king Avenir and stop toying with my emotions. 2017 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback: A- This exceeded my expectations as far as design. I'd love to see it in a non-embarrassing color. The only thing it lacks is a compelling drivetrain or sport model, the new 1.4T is adequate but lacks lust or excitement. GM needs a performance car below the Camaro, this has the potential. 2017 Chrysler Pacifica: A Very impressive minivan. I have no interest in this segment, but it looks good and is quite innovative. 2017 Ford Fusion: B Underwhelming refresh, glad it looks less Aston than before. The sport will be a great car for the money, but speaks volumes about Ford's true lack of devotion to set Lincoln apart in a meaningful way. 2017 Ford Raptor SuperCrew: Incomplete I agree with the incomplete assessment. Drop the specs already! Looks awesome. 2017 Genesis G90: B Glad Hyundai spun off a luxury brand to build a reputation. Exterior is decent, interior is impressive. I still doubt their ability to build a luxury competitive chassis and powertrain. 2017 GMC Acadia: B+ I think the downsize is a brilliant move with the Acadia, HOWEVER, I'm not feeling the headlight design (doesn't say GMC at all). No 8 speed, no exciting engine options, why do I get the feeling the 6-speed is a hold over for the new Ford/GM trans? 2017 Honda Ridgeline: C Looks better and more like a truck than its predecessor. Falls woefully short of the Canyon/Colorado in any meaningful metric, and base models are now FWD. 2017 Infiniti Q60: B Design is too over the top for me, the hitch in the c-pillar just kills it. Asian automakers are all in this over-design phase and they keep cranking out weird sh*t. Kia Telluride Concept: Fail What the hell were they thinking? 2017 Lincoln Continental: C This is supposed to be Lincoln's flagship, and the return of a storied nameplate and a kickstart to Lincoln brand equity. Every little detail that didn't make it from the concept to production cheapened the car considerably IMO. I will say the seats look great. I'll reserve final judgement until the car is tested and reviewed to see if it ascends beyond its FWD roots, or if it's another MKS. 2017 Lexus LC 500: B I'm not going to pat Lexus on the back for continuing to cram their design language down our throats. This is one of the better looking iterations, but is that really a compliment given the context? Powertrain seems to carry over from the RC-F, yawn. Nissan Titan Warrior Concept: A Really wish more of these details had made it to the mundane looking XD. This concept totally transforms the truck visually.
  9. I don't see how the size change is a problem. GMC shares the majority of its dealers with Buick, so the full-size Enclave is across the showroom, not to mention GMC's own Yukon in two sizes. It was unnecessary for GM to have 3 full size crossovers with largely overlapping demographics, while being completely vacant in the midsize CUV/SUV segment. I think this Acadia is going to be just the right size for tons of families that don't want a full size tank of a vehicle, but can't get away with a CRV/Equinox/Escape.
  10. I was unaware those chrome handles have a button and require pulling leverage. I thought it had a sensor and popped ajar. I just think the chrome handles protruding from the window trim like that look really strange. Sorry, this thing is such a swing and a miss for me. I'll excuse myself from the thread.
  11. The south american trailblazer is based on the Colorado and it's no featherweight. The Acadia is FWD/AWD on the heavily modified Lambda platform, I'm not sure GM's new coding for it. It's on a new platform called C1XX. No real sharing with Lambda to speak of. Shared with the new XT5. Here are my shots of the GMC Acadia from the show. To me, this is the biggest evidence that the Terrain will shrink significantly next refresh. In 5-passenger trim, the Acadia is dangerously close to the Terrain in interior room with almost all of the extra space happening behind the 2nd row. Thank you for the clarification! The Lambda part was an educated guess. The D2XX and E2XX underpinning GM's new FWD sedans are based on the Delta and Epsilon platforms in some capacity, I didn't know the Lambda chassis was being ditched after one extended generation.

  13. GM has been pretty on point with weight predictions, Camaro SS lost 200 lbs, V6 and 4-cylinder lost 300 and 400 lbs respectively, CT6 is as light as the CTS, Malibu lost 300 lbs. Even if the 700 lbs refers to the 4-cylinder, the V6 will still be 500+ lbs lighter than the outgoing model. It's the difference of two NFL linebackers riding in the back of your car, automakers would kill for those gains.
  14. Buick's true calling is right here. This concept oozes class and heritage and panache. Well aren't you a party pooper. If the Avista is the party, then consider it pooped on.
  15. I'm not feeling it either. Throw a shifter in the console and the whole layout is a conventional, mainstream car with a lot of chrome accents. The infotainment screen is pretty average, and directly above it are a pair of plain, poorly integrated vents that look fresh out of 2006, not 2016. On the bright side, the seating looks amazing front and back.
  16. Best execution yet of the F150. I think this is an excellent niche product.
  17. To be perfectly honest, I don't get this concept car at all. I don't see any Buick family resemblance, I don't see any significant throwback design cues, I see a great looking sports car that could wear any one of 10 different brand badges on the grille and get away with it. Beyond design, where does this fit in Buick's (or GM's) product line? Between the Camaro SS and ATS-V Coupe while using Cadillac's brand new 3.0T? GM wants three compact sports coupes? IMO Buick needs the gorgeous full size omega-based Avenir FAR more than a redundant alpha-based small coupe.
  18. I wouldn't go that far, the Mazda 3 is an exceptional compact car, and it offers a strong 2.5L DI 4-cylinder. It's also gorgeous in 5-door form. This Cruze hatch is pretty sweet though. With that new 1.4L turbo, all I can think is throwing a tune on it for an easy 180 hp/200 tq with a stick shift.
  19. The Verano uses the first gen 2.0T, so it's a different tune, but yes, the Verano can make 300+ hp and torque. There's something about that car that I really like. I'd need to see one in person to actually grasp the size. I'm afraid it would be a little too small for my liking. But, I dig the classy yet sporty-ness of it. So that has the same engine my friend's HHR SS has then, right? Yep, same engine. When the Buick Regal GS used the first gen 2.0T, they offered a modified stage kit with an intake for it making like 295 hp/320 tq with factory warranty intact. When they switched to the new 2.0T (259 hp/295 lb-ft) and GM-sourced 6-speed auto, they stopped offering any power adders because the trans was at its factory claimed torque limit.
  20. A tuner called Trifecta has tunes for every engine of the Malibu from 2008 through 2015 (except for the hybrids). I'm sure they're already trying to get their hands on a new Malibu to be first on the market. They also tune the Sonic and Cruze. Do you have a link to that? The ones I'm finding in google only support the Cadillacs. That's an off-site. Trifecta is http://www.wot-tuning.com/forums/page/index.html TRIFECTA: +44 WHP and +51 ft-lbs on Chevrolet Cruze 1.4T MY2011-2015 Considered them for my Impala and then decided that I had enough power on tap to get me into trouble. Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance Chevrolet Impala MY2014+ 3.6 LFX ECM software reprogramming: -Gains of +14 ft-lbs and +20 WHP under the curve (and +14 ft-lbs and +16 WHP peak on 91 octane) -Powertrain calibration has been tested and validated for various environments, such as cold/heat, elevation, and variations in fuel quality -Power feels linear and immediately responsive (improved drivability and throttle attentiveness) -Retains all GM OE diagnostics and ECM functionality -Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality -Emissions readiness checks are present; emissions compliant -Maintains functionality of ABS and TC systems -Knock detection mechanisms and OE engine knock detection sensitivity is retained -The TRIFECTA flash loader and Transparency featureset does not increment the ECM write counter or increment entries in the flash history -Return to stock functionality included with flash loader Can the gains for the Regal 2.0 be expected on the Verano 2.0 as well? I couldn't find any numbers for the Verano but if that were the case the Verano Turbo would be one dang quick car. The Verano uses the first gen 2.0T, so it's a different tune, but yes, the Verano can make 300+ hp and torque.
  21. Get a Jet chip, They work well on all grades of gas even when the chip is tuned for performance. Been very impressed with the Jet chips. You are the only person I've seen back the jet chip. Everyone says they're total bunk, and that's what I'd assume reading their ridiculous ads. Regardless, an actual tune made by a human is vastly superior to a one-size-fits-all chip. Trifecta offers a tune at any level of power you want, including low octane safe.
  22. No it does not yet have aftermarket goodies, but it's inevitable. Every other GM turbo has brand name tunes available and an unlocked ECU for private tuners. I bet the performance goodies will blow up once it's in the Cruze and other vehicles. Just one regular family sedan won't have too many aftermarket complained with knocks on their door asking for exhaust or intakes.. But it's inevitable that they will use the 1.5 in a handful of vehicles. If people get lucky it could be the performance SS option in the Sonic. That's help the aftermarket option! A tuner called Trifecta has tunes for every engine of the Malibu from 2008 through 2015 (except for the hybrids). I'm sure they're already trying to get their hands on a new Malibu to be first on the market. They also tune the Sonic and Cruze.
  23. Great in depth review! Honestly surprised you liked the engine as much as you did. I hope the car is a success for GM despite the tarnished nameplate.
