  1. I don't know why GM doesn't build an LT1 without all the restrictive cylinder deactivation gear. With minimal development costs, they could have a 500 horsepower, 7000 rpm engine for track performance cars like the Grand Sport or upcoming Z/28, and it would still match the LS3 in fuel economy. A grand sport at $66,445 with the same power output as the base model or Z51 package is just underwhelming to me. The collectors edition is absolutely gorgeous though.
  2. As I tell everyone who makes that claim.... "All cars have all wheel stop.... so buy snow tires" I know SO MANY people that default to shopping for AWD and don't know sh!t about it (living in Maryland). I've literally heard people reference stopping ability. STOPPING ABILITY. When I explain that all cars already have "all wheel stop" as you put it, it's like a light bulb comes on in their head, but burns out the moment the conversation is over. It makes me feel like I need to hand out awareness fliers on the street. 90% of people with AWD are simply buying themselves a 200 lb dead weight security blanket at the cost of two grand and a couple mpg. My fiance has casually mentioned the next car she wants to buy with her family, and they all brought up AWD like a necessity. I basically used my car knowledge to end the converation, but I know I didn't change anyone's dumbass opinions. Not to mention we're moving far south after the wedding, everyone knows this, yet the first comment out of their mouths is "It has AWD, right? Why not AWD?" and I'm left coming up with the most polite way to say "Shut the everloving f@#k up." #futureinlaws Intriguing story. Much wow. Very analytical. Pulitzer nomination sent. ...?
  3. Preferably I want to see a 2.5L base engine and a 2.0T optional. Even with extreme weight loss, I don't want to see the 1.5L engine trying to move a 3500-3700 lb crossover. I don't expect the EPA rating to increase dramatically, at least on the highway, because the current model seems to have trouble cracking 30 mpg at all. An honest 22/32 mpg would beat the outgoing Equinox.

  5. This one's for you, olds! We posted our version of Light My Fire today. https://www.reverbnation.com/kingsoftherevolution1/song/25803216-light-my-fire-the-doors Dude....that is just as good as it gets!!!! Almost like the original. You guys ROCK! Got the vibe down PERFECTLY! I like! Ill be honest though, I did not listen to Remedy. Its because I aint familiar with the Black Crowes. No worries, listen to what you're into. I personally don't really like the Black Crowes or the song Remedy, that was a pick the rest of the band chose. I'm glad the Doors song rocked your socks, that's one of our best niche sounds. We also play Riders on the Storm and Roadhouse Blues, and we kick their ass too! We almost recorded Riders instead, but we'd been really hot playing Light My Fire (no pun intended), so we went with our gut and it turned out well.
  6. It's the same powertrain in the new XT5.

  8. Shame that they had that to say, but then I really think Manuals are the way of dodo birds and should go to the history books. the outgoing Cruze had a really sweet manual, and i agree, manuals are on the way out. I love driving a stick but now again I am sick of them, and to be honest they will be regulated out of existence I feel. You can't shift faster or better than an auto, autos get better mpg, and being stuck in traffic in a manual in between shifts and the need for sudden acceleration etc, i believe they will try to prove them unsafe. Better MPG is questionable conclusion, the EPA test procedures are clearly biased toward the pre-programmed gear shifting of an automatic. In the vast majority of cases, owners of manual transmissions still report higher fuel economy than their automatic counterparts (with equal gears). I also don't see any viable case to call manual transmissions "unsafe," it's a clear defense against distracted driving and these modern cars have hill-hold assist when stopped on an incline, rev matching, and no-lift shifting to prevent mistakes. From what I've seen, Americans have become disenchanted with driving itself in favor of automation and technology. It's certainly EASIER to drive an automatic, and we live in an age where easy defaults to "better."
  9. Shame that they had that to say, but then I really think Manuals are the way of dodo birds and should go to the history books. Well my car isn't getting any younger, and I have to consider what I'd get as an affordable replacement if it died or was totaled. A new Cruze 5-door was looking pretty attractive (for band gigs), but I've gotta have a stick shift if I'm gonna be stuck in a low power mainstream car. I thought the new versions had Torquey engines to not give that impression with an auto? What I mean is that I need the fun and involvement of a manual transmission if I'm stuck in a mundane car. The only thing that keeps me content in my Malibu is the sound and power of a brawny V6, flappy paddles, and a shift pattern that I wrote myself. If I have to go from a low 14 second car to a cheaper car with 100 less horsepower and an automatic, I'll drive from the dealership straight off the nearest cliff.

  11. Now we need to see a Lacrosse Super with a 400 hp turbo V6. There needs to be some top shelf product in the Buick showroom.
  12. Posted our next demo for the cover band. Remedy by the Black Crowes. https://www.reverbnation.com/kingsoftherevolution1/song/25753450-remedy-the-black-crowes
  13. MT's take on the manual transmission was really negative, which is a damn shame. There were no major complaints about the stick shift in the Sonic or outgoing Cruze. "Acceleration is nice and smooth with the six-speed automatic, but our single biggest gripe with the new Cruze is with the manual transmission’s shifter. The top of the knob is bigger than average and borderline clunky, the need to pull up on a little button under the shifter to get reverse feels antique, the shift throws are slightly long, and the shift action feels way too light. It seems as if its engineers didn’t expect many takers, which will of course probably be the case, and hence didn’t sweat the details."
  14. I don't think anyone is disputing that cp. Also, some have picked the Camaro is SS guise. For what it's worth, at closer to 30K, I'd take the 'Maro V6 stick. I'm just having a knee jerk reaction to alternatives that are priced to Camaro SS levels. Of course there are going to be superior cars if everyone defaults to $37,000+ as the benchmark against a Camaro V6 that starts at $28,000. I don't see anyone picking legit contenders like the Mustang Ecoboost, Challenger V6, the new Miata hard top, or the FRZ/BRZ/FT86, isn't that the point? It's like what would you rather have over a Kia Optima Turbo ($28k-$40k)? Well for $40k I can get an Infiniti Q50 or ATS 2.0T.
  15. I know you CAN option a Camaro V6 to $38k, but it's a little ridiculous that every person is picking an alternative at that price point. C&D's $35k Camaro was pretty much loaded, short of unnecessary add ons like ground effects, stripe packages, and other useless frills. You can build a track-ready (brembos and track cooling systems) V6 trim for a hair over $30k, that's basically an N/A 335 horsepower sports car with more practicality than a 370Z.
  16. You are correct, no auto tune for our vocals! In fact, every band member sings in some capacity, so we can have up to 4-part harmonies. I'm glad you noticed our ability, we pride ourselves on our musicianship and our drive to remain faithful to the original songs. Speaking of solos and chemistry, one of our other demos is Light My Fire by the Doors, and I can't wait to share that one! We did one demo from each decade: 1960s: Light My Fire (the Doors) 1970s: Superstition (Stevie Wonder) 1980s: Cheap Sunglasses (ZZ Top) 1990s: Remedy (the Black Crowes) 2000s: Hemorrhage (Fuel) 2010s: Something from Nothing (Foo Fighters)
  17. Nice sound you guys have. Thanks! We're releasing one new song each week (we have 6 demos total) leading up to our first gig in May.
  18. Hey guys, my cover band finished recording our demos, and the first two are posted online. They're basically live recordings, reproducing what we can actually play at a performance, the final vocals were recorded afterward in a sound booth for quality. I play keyboard, my brother sings and plays drums (he has a headset mic), my dad plays bass, and our close friend plays lead guitar. So far you can listen to Superstition (Stevie Wonder) and Hemorrhage (Fuel). It would be awesome if you could lend me your ears! https://www.reverbnation.com/kingsoftherevolution1/song/25709159-superstition-stevie-wonder
  19. Terrain Denali V6. It is so much more vehicle for the money than a Journey V6. Better power, better interior, better exterior, and better reliability record. There are test numbers as low as 14.9 in the 1/4 mile, which really helps me look past the embarrassing CUV compromise.
  20. Forunately it was certified so got a decent warranty. Got the car back, dealership said a coil and plugs were the culprit. they wanted $330 to fix it, but my brother cot the plugs and coil for like 30 bucks and we are going to do it. IMHO, they should have done it for free because apparently when they did the rebuild for the oil burning isue they put the same plugs back in, wtf? Anyway, he is working on a trade-in deal on a REALLY nice off lease 2013 ATS 2.0T AWD. I hoping I may have a new review next week Make sure that used ATS undergoes a rigorous inspection. They had a few major teething issues with the '13s, specifically the 2.0T.
  21. The front looks like a bad caricature of futuristic design. I'm already not a fan of the new Lincoln grille, but this is--IMO--the worst execution yet. And then from the A-pillar back, it looks like some sort of next gen Ford Flex mixed with a QX56, which isn't necessarily a problem but I can't get past the face. Lincoln briefly had a design language that I was excited about: the split wing of the MXZ, MKC, and MKX. The brand was really establishing something with visual character and originality. Now everything coming out has this derivative, awkward feel to it. I really hope the performance and engineering is there with these new cars.
  22. Not even close. Now, I don't think the Camaro is as bad as most make it out to be but having sat in a half dozen of those and a half dozen Challengers, it's not even close. The Challenger was far easier to get in and out off and has a better view out back IMO. The view forward is a wash for me. I'm talking about visibility, not ingress/egress. If you claim to see fine out of a Challenger, you're not going to complain about the view out of a gen 6 Camaro.
  23. I don't know why people are bringing up visability. The f@#king Challenger is just as much of a bunker as the 5th gen Camaro, and the new 6th gen--which I haven't sat in yet--supposedly has a couple more inches of forward view by lowering the dash. The windows, of course, remain gun-slits on both. I already have a long distance cruiser with a trunk and back seat, I want the near-sports car Camaro ZL1.
  24. Well the N/A V6 model in the mid $60k range is significantly more luxurious than the base V-Sport. I'm personally a sucker for the kona brown interior and the uplevel gauge cluster. I'm just pointing out that the regular 335 hp V6 already out-classes the GS350 "F-Sport."
  25. I mostly like it, but these refreshes of the Trax and Sonic should have gotten GM's new 4-cylinder engines. The pre-refresh Buick Encore already uses the new 1.4T DI in the sport touring. The 1.8L engine in the Sonic is such a worthless boat anchor of an engine. Even when it was new, it was far behind in refinement and fuel economy, not to mention mediocre power.
