For you...but some of us actually prefer American Muscle sounds over Ferraris, Lambos.. Veyron? Yeah...I dont think so Tim. Why? Its muffled! You hardly hear the engine! And yeah...I do like Ferrari symphony......I just prefer American V8 rock-n-roll that much better...ROCK ME AMADEUS!!! Ironic post...from me. Rock Me Amadeus...Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart...pseudo rock song...if you could even call it that... about an Austrian...by an Austrian group... Nothing Rock-N-Rolly about that....nothing American either...but oh well...Its fun posting Olds style!!!

I ran out of time...to do something about that...without trying to be too conspicuous...but yeah...semantix...or seman-tics

semantics and El Kabong be like I could just imagine what the name Bill does to you...

Awesome! I once wanted to buy a 1959 Chevy Impala 2 door sedan, but my daddy did not let me. So I used his stupid 1986 Chevy Celebrity instead. And in hindsight...its more like this emoticon... That is as close as I got to own real American iron!!!

389? Did somoene say 389? All I could think of when someone says 389 is this: Little GTO, you're really lookin' fine Three deuces and a four-speed and a 389 Listen to her tachin' up now, listen to her why-ee-eye-ine C'mon and turn it on, wind it up, blow it out GTO WA-WA!!! wa, wa, wa, wa, wa, wa! What housed that 389? And in what will it be its future dwelling? You and Balthazar.... I respect mucho...because you guys are the real deal...when it comes to cars!!!

That is funny...what you said about GM's OHV V6s losing to 4 cylinders... My wife's 1.6 liter ecoboosted GDI 4 cylinder drives an awful lot like those GM OHV pushrod V6s...from the 2.8, to the 3.1 sequential FI,, to the 3.4 in the Alero....other than the occasional turbo lag in the Fusion...I mean very similar...and trust me...Id rather the GM 2.8/3.1/3.4 than the 1.6 ecoboost...and I dont really dislike the 1.6 ecoboost...I actually like it....but I do prefer 6 cylinders...OHV if need be... And the reason why I mention those engines...is because I owned them and drove them.... Other than the 3.4 V6s gasket problems...they were quite peppy and reliable..... Let it be known that I personally did not experience gasket problems with the 3.4 in the Alero. S

Yes you did. I once asked a particular poster at MT forums if he could explain to me how a VR Volks engine works...because I knew it was a V engine and at the same time an inline one too, and that created a several month debacle over at MT. And by you mentioning its a SOHC engine if one sees it as a "V" configuration or a DOHC engine if one sees it as an inline...I honestly understand what it is you are talking about...he actually did a fantastic job in explaining it to me....its just that other posters egged him on on semantics...for several months.

I posted GM, Chrysler, Toyota, Honda, and Benz. That easily covers the majority of the market, but since that doesn't satisfy you...Very well, I'll get you the rest. Nissan 3.5 VQ (Maxima) - 300hp @ 6400 RPM - RL 6600 RPM Ford 3.7 (Mustang) - 305hp @ 6500 RPM - RL 6850 RPM (fuel cut off) BMW N52 - 272hp @ 6650 - RL 7000 RPM (Last non-Turbo 6 I could find) the balance advantage of an I-6 over a V6 are pretty clear here though. !!!! Volkswagen 3.6 - 280HP @ 6200 RPM - RL 6000 RPM !!!! So VW is advertising a horsepower rating achieved 200 RPM beyond red-line? Hyundai Lambda 3.8 V6 - 348HP @ 6400 RPM - RL 6750 Why is that even possible/a thing? Post a rating ABOVE what the engine can even rev to?!?!? I"m sure the engine won't grenade exactly at 6001 rpm, but that's what the engine is rated to. Keep in mind that this is a VR engine with a 15 degree cylinder bank rather than a V engine with a 54, 60, or 90 degree cylinder bank. So even though it is a 24 valve engine, it is technically SOHC rather than DOHC if you think of it as a V engine, but it is a DOHC rather than SOHC if you think of it as an inline engine. It is kinda both and neither..... but that may be the cause of the relatively low red-line rating. It's a very interesting design from a packaging standpoint. And this post just gave me a wonderful warm feeling inside. Memories. Good 'ol wonderful memories.

Ill like that sentence a lot. I decided to frame it in my post with nice colours.

Buick News: Buick Envision: To Import or Not Import?
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
To be fair... Buick sales in Asia are @ about 1 000 000 units...combine Opel sales of the cars that Buick sells States side and that figure surpasses 1 000 000...by at least another 200 000. Buick sales States Side....220 000 units....that would be 1 000 000 units that GM sells more OUTSIDE the US for those very same Buicks... Let us not forget...that Oldsmobile also sold 1 000 000 units at one point in time... What does that mean? I dont know...alls I know...Buicks that are sold in America are Chinese based and German based cars....in which the world is gobbling them up at Oldsmobile breaking records...Its good that Buick has moved the emotion meter States Side...but Buick needs more emotion from the domestic buying public if it wants Buick to be continued to be sold here...because we all know what happened to that other once great American nameplate from GM's umbrella that also sold 1 million units...- 29 replies

Good question... By the same token...a real Mini Cooper from the 1950s/1960s/1970s was FWD and it handled like a go-kart...one could say it was a hardcore in handling prowess for races.... I want the Continental to be a plush rider, just like it was during the good 'ol days...and not a performance oriented car like a CTS or CT6 or whatever Cadillac is doing right now to compete with sports sedan cars from Germany...but I would want it to be RWD just for sentimental reasons as you said..the Town Car, the Continental cars themselves from the 1950s/1960s/1970s, Fleetwood Broughams, the RWD Eldorados of the 1950s and early 1960s...

Buick News: Rumorpile: Many of Buick Models Could Be Imported
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Buick
Makes sense what you said... And to be fair to GM without the drama for calling out for their heads.... Close to 1 000 000 Buicks are sold over seas and only 220 000 are sold in North America. Like DFELT said...it is a GLOBAL economy in which 80% of Buick sales are OUTSIDE of Buick's domestic market... Its only fair to these markets that actually swallow up 1 million Buicks each and every year...that they actually build them..for themselves and for the rest of the world too... BECAUSE: One could even argue...because Buick was saved from the clutches of death because of China...and the most intriguing designs from Buick come from Chinese designers...for the Chinese market, and the cars themselves are marketed and sold in China...minus a couple of models that are actually designed, engineered and built by Germans and Germany and marketed for Germans and Europeans alike...one could argue that Buick is not really American anymore... Buick is under the GM umbrella...for sure..more to it than that...like BLU said...Buick IS/WAS GM....but Buick is more Opel than Buick today...no...really...and let me ask you folk that are calling death to Buick...how many of you recognize Opel as American? Europeans view Opel as German... And...Americans view Opel as German...despite that Opel has been under GM rule since 1926 or something like that... So...be honest with yourselves... The day GM decided to keep Buick and kill off Oldsmobile...then kill off Pontiac and Saturn in favor for Chinese Buicks...and the day that GM stopped offering a pure American car in the Lucerne the way it feels and drives...for a...you guessed it...a Chinese Buick Lacrossse and for a German Opel Insignia where Buick calls its version the Regal....and for Chinese Buick Excelles/Opel Astras...and creates new Euro/Asian market niches with Opel Mokkas (Encore in the US) in which that car is assembled in South Korea and China and Spain and a new convertible based on an Opel Cascada (same name for the Buick version)... What did you guys really expect GM to do? Yeah..I know...American jobs for the American worker... Let me remind you folk...1 000 000 plus Chinese Buicks and Opels are bought and sold by "foreign" people as opposed to 220 000... Those people that support those 1 000 000 plus cars also DEMAND for jobs for their own countries... It is a global economy after all... Had Americans be buying more Oldsmobiles/Pontiacs/Buicks...because Oldsmobiles reached that 1 000 000 mark in North America at one time too...maybe more American factory workers would be employed producing real American Pontiacs/Oldsmobiles/Buicks... No need to go into the politics of what I wrote...just for you guys to understand what GM is facing in the economic side of things...maybe producing the Insignia and Regal along side the Cascada makes more sense...and shipping both cars on the same boat is cheaper...its not as if the Regal was a HUGE success in North America anyway? The Insignia on the other hand... -
Nice clean car. Im envious as no matter how good you take care of your vehicles in Quebec, use your car as a daily driver....and the ice and salt and thawing and freezing and potholes really screw your ride up! No way would a daily driver of 15 years look that good in Quebec. So making the kinds of mods you are doing will all be in vain...as the exterior would look like crap...and no paint job would address the fact that underneath...its a rust bucket... I like your ride sir. And I too, always liked the LH cars...

Ive always liked the interior of the Chinese Envision, but the exterior looked like just another Vue-ick. I see lots of Captiva in it. Thanx BLU for the credit... Ive seen interior pictures of the Chinese Envision and I too, think its a snazzy interior. One thing I like about Chinese Buicks...is that the interiors are nicely done.- 29 replies

...... but... it's all wheel drive It is AWD. And that's fine. But it's FWD-based AWD that is riding on a mainstream platform. It is an acceptable stopgap for D6, if the price is right. But it is no more a flagship, or even premium model than the Cadillac XTS, and for the exact same reason. And Im willing to bet, that even if it was RWD...or RWD based AWD...that 99.999999999% of the population would not know what wheels are powering what... And those include the luxo buyers.... Its only the very few car enthusiasts that put an emphasis on RWD... I, however do agree that it should be RWD....or RWD based AWD...,but seriously speaking....Lincoln is not targeting that enthusiast crowd anyway...unlike Cadillac... And like I said...to which you have agreed, it is a great starting point for Lincoln with this Continental... If the price is right? What is the XTS's selling price anyway?

How did you know I was talking about you? Because I have a habit of being long winded... I take after my mother. You know the kind...Greek mothers, that always have a story to tell... Besides...I have gotten compliments of my long windedness before... You really are the first to whine about it... ...and throw a shoe my way... In to which I decided to give you the middle finger...two middle fingers...all in the name of fun of course... Peace out... Sooooo... you're 8 years old too? Nah...Im just giving you a piece of my mind....with visual stimulation because as you have stated...too many words makes you doze off... PS...OCNBLU...dont try to out-wit, out-dramatize a Greek...we invented that shyte... Sarcasm...its in our blood.

I forgot to say....it seems the world would likely to see a mid-engined Corvette before the world will see another NSX. After all the negativity posted in this thread about the upcoming NSX, regardless that some people wish it to fail, I for one, cant wait for it to grace its presence. The NSX looks fantastic and although the LFA was never on my radar screen, other than that V10, I am smitten with the new NSX... Oh...just another painful reminder on how long ago Acura is telling us a new NSX is on its way...

Buick needs a CUV in between the Encore and the Enclave....but not this Envision....I envision (cool pun, huh?) a CUV sporty with European flair...not Chinese flair... These are of a future Opel SUV rendering I found....THIS is kinda the look that the North American Envision and Enclave should follow through with...a family of CUVs and SUVs that follow this form... There is a tad of Buick Avenir in that...the article says that Opel's Monza concept is very inherent in that design... http://www.worldcarfans.com/115031090283/future-opel-flagship-suv-rendered- 29 replies

OK...that Ill agree to... But not that North Eastern temps will screw it up... It's not the temps, it's the ice and salt. Also, chrome ain't what it use to be. The chrome posted above in those older GM cars is on actual metal (the shaped Cadillac is polished stainless steel rather than chrome technically). They can't really do old style chrome anymore because it is horribly pollutive during the process. I was referring to salt...I said temps...but I got the message you are trying to convey...between Balthazar, El K and yourself...I now got a better understanding of how it may not work...and how it should be done to make it work.

Fair is only fair, Wings... The Continental gets wrongfully denounced....is alls Im saying... It is what it is...

Well...Im disappointed. VTEC did NOT kick in...it has stalled somewhere between the Lexus LFA and Cadillac show stopping show cars...
