Cadillac News: Cadillac Is Working On A RWD Sedan To Sit Below ATS
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
Well...if a CT2 vehicle is in play and "smaller" than an ATS (CT3), then my dream Cadillac is as follows. CT1 = A Saturn Sky type roadster to do battle with the upcoming new BMW Z5. Obviously on the Alpha platform and obviously heavily engineered from the Camaro...but the CT1 being a real 2 seater as the Camaro technically has seats in the back. CT2 = This sub ATS..I want it to be as close to as possible in all specs to the BMW 2 Series and M2. Length, wheelbase and performance. CT3 = ATS, slightly larger than what it is now, but slightly smaller than a current BMW 3 Series. CT4 = ATS coupe. Slightly larger than what it is now, but slightly smaller than what a BMW 4 Series is. Nix the Buick Avista, let this Buick Avista morph into an ATS coupe with a definite "GC" model. CT5 = CTS CT6 = In the very near future, let this CT6 evolve into a BMW 6 Series GC and a M-B CLS 63 competitor. CT7 = El Miraj....and call it the El Miraj if Eldorado is deemed to old phogeyish! CT8 = S Class competitor. And call it whatever...but not effin CT8. CT9 = Roll Royce competitor, M-B Pullman/Maybach... And call it whatever you want, just dont call it CT8. Rolls Royce and Bentley both have actual names in tjis category,...Cadillac should do the same thing here...Call it the Sixteen. CT10 = A convertible...like the Ciel...and call it the Ciel. Either a 2 door, but Id rather a 4 door convertible exactly like the Ciel, based on the CT7/CT8/CT9. An electric/hybrid supercar along the lines of a Mercedes SLS/Gullwing, without the actual Gullwings and call that car the Evoq. Or Provoq. Escalade remains...in the very essence of what an Escalade is all about with the name intact!- 79 replies

Cadillac News: Cadillac Is Working On A RWD Sedan To Sit Below ATS
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Cadillac
I think that my educated prediction from a few weeks back, base don JDN's words, is that this vehicle.. ready for launch late '17, as an '18 model.. will be of similar size internally to the current ATS, while the ATS(CT3) gets a size bump in line with the ATS-L.. price??? How much U wanna bet maximum on the CT3 will be a +$700 bump from the previous year of teh ATS. This sub-ATS will come in at a relative $29,999 If waz u iz sayin' iz tru...WTF is Cadillac doing offering cars in this price range? I read your insight about the 500 000 units for Cadillac versus Balthazar's, and I must admit, I agree with your vision rather than his, however...in a situation like this...Im with Balthazar and in no way in hell do I want Cadillac to attain 500 000 units with cars that are mostly sold in this price range...THIS does NOT make Cadillac top tier luxury. THIS makes Cadillac more like BMW...hell, more like Chevy....(yeah...I dont really care that it will have RWD) I envision Cadillac to become THE world's most prolific and most luxurious brand in the world. I envision Cadillac to be the Standard of the World again. Full of obnoxious entities that piss of the poor. Because, top 1%ers live a life of luxury that the poor are envious of, but are so over the top that that also pisses them off. And THAT is where I want Cadillac to be. However... I DONT envision Cadillac selling Cadillacs even below in price to the Buick Envision... (yes...Pun very much intended) Hell...with the Buick Avista shown, and potentially being built Im having a hard time accepting a Cadillac ATS coupe or sedan even being sold at Cadillac...let alone car smaller and less expensive than an ATS. Id rather have Buick sell the Alpha platformed car...- 79 replies

Wow. Yet another legend dies. Before I knew about a Glen Frey, before I knew about the The Eagles there was a tune that I loved hearing on the radio, and it played often enough. Then Beverly Hills Cop happened and I was finally introduced to Glen Frey officially. and who could forget those Pontiac commercials? About this time I was introduced to yet another Eagles tune. I got my first CD player in 1989 or 1990. My first CD was Hotel California. Yup...Def Leppard was just coming off a high. I had bought all their albums...in cassettes form. AC/DC was releasing Thunderstruck, which I bought...in cassette form. Aerosmith released Pump around this time, which I did not buy. Scorpions also released Crazy World at this time, which I bought as a CD...was my second CD purchase. I chose to buy a late 1970s album on CD as my first CD purchase. Goes to show you how powerful The Eagles are. RIP Mr Frey!

The Buick Avenir...WE HAD IT ON DISPLAY!!! CANADIAN PREMIER...WOOHOO!!! I think the Avenir also is one of these vehicles. The first time I saw it in pics I was wowed by it, but quickly got bored with it. But seeing it person, the Avenir has a certain elegance to it that pictures dont do justice. And its bigger than what it looks like in pictures. Anyway, the MKZ, if they could fix the odd back end, it might just become a great seller because the new front end makes it look that much more elegant and expensive. And if a new 3.0 ecoboosted 6 comes along with, what, 400 horsepower, it will definitely turn the tide. Wow...I have come full circle in accepting the MKZ...who knew?

Well...I went to the Montreal Auto Show today. They had the new MKZ on display, on a pedestal. People could not get close to it, but admire it from afar. I must say, the new face is very attractive. It out-Jaguars Jaguar in my opinion. Very similar look, but I think the MKZ pulls that look better. At least from the front because from the back....YIKES! What Im trying to say is that the front end looks very classy. Now, I think the front end of the Continental will be that much more majestic than the MKZ. So, I could now at least imagine what journalists keep on saying that the Continental has presence. Based on looks alone, I think the Continental has nothing to worry about. People will admire it. And THAT is a HUGE step forward for Lincoln.

Phew.... I thought maybe Ed was a long lost uncle or something, or worse, a family member being a victim... I dont know too much of the real story. Other than what one would normally find on the internet...wikipedia type information. I saw the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre sometime in the early 1980s on Beta. I rented the 2000s remake on DVD. I decided to google the movie sometime after I saw the remake...because the ending scared the bejesus out of me....the part where the officer enters the home and the narrator states that this is the only real footage of leatherface ever to be caught on camera...I had to really know if that was true... Yes I know, sometimes I could be gullible. Anyhoo, this is a thread about music...so let the music play... Another early to mid 1980s song I remember quite fondly.
-
@ Balthazar Well, I know that pic of yours is of Ed Gein. And I know that is his farmhouse. And I also know that the movie was inspired by him. So...I thought that you might be a fan of the movie The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...original form the 1970s and the modern 2000s one. So...I thought I was being clever in what I posted, because I do find that particular song eerie in which I thought I was funny in making a connection with your avatar pic. Personal? As in you are somehow connected personally to that farmhouse? If you dont feel like answering that question, Ill understand, I mean, I wont know why and how, but I wont press my luck any further type deal.
-
That is some very eerie stuff. The kind of music Id be listening to on that front porch right there Firin' up the 'ol chainsaw for some cuttin' of some sorts...

This post was edited by me...and the song is directed towards me.. I got to know when to hold them, when to fold them, when to walk away and especially when to run... I know how to play the game...but in this game is when I keep my mouth shut!

Yeah, I read it. Like you said. He worked hard on it. Very cool build indeed. I found his hard work entertaining in the fun irony of things in that the 4rth gen F-Body Camaro was canceled and was kinda replaced by the SSr...with a 5.3 liter V8 under the hood initially...and he took a 5.3 liter V8..from a Tahoe...and shoved it under the hood of the Camaro. Very cool indeed... But I did not catch the 6.0 part...Ill reread the thread again.

Rene died...sorry Celine. Mes condoléances.

327 Camaro, anybody? This one is for Olds! I had to quote you to make sure you saw it. lol. http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/3773462/1 In all seriousness, this guy put a lot of time and energy into this build and it's awesome. And yet..I still missed it!!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-YqaTDDCDM Yes Ray Charles...meaning IM BLIND!!!

Italians and racketeering... Somehow, those go together like bread and butter. Somehow, you cant have one without the other.

Stop the nonsense with the Azera taillights, guys... Some of you are hellbent to find problems with the Continental. The Continental taillights do NOT look like Azera headlights... Not in the least.... Why? Just because there is a similar feature that runs across the trunk? CMON GUYS!!! Its funny you see Azera, yet I see an evolution of this: Which in fact, that Mark VIII taillight treatment is in all new Lincoln products... and technically, the Continental wears its taillights flipped around from that MKC... So...cut it out with the nonsense... The Continental actually looks almost like the concept...the spy shots screwed up the visuals....but in production form, it surprisingly comes close to the concept.. Maybe the wheelbase has been compromised...I know one thing, I CANT WAIT TO SEE IT IN PERSON... In my honest opinion...Concept to Concept, the Continental looks 1000 times better than the Buick Avenir, and the Continental made it to production...so THAT SHOULD be a plus! I dont like the door handles though...I did not know how to describe them until a poster in this thread called them toilet paper fixtures...and BINGO! PERFECT description...

Does anybody else HATE semantic driven arguments? So "several" means more than two...Hyper should have said "a couple of" instead of "several" Stew...it doesnt change the fact that Chryco was balied out in the late 1970s and with that money Chryco.'s Iacocca green lit the engineering of the K-Cars and the minivan that used the same underpinnings of said K Cars...which in turn saved Chryco which led them to be wildly successful in the 1990s. Yet, after the "merger of equals", Chryco. was back in the same predicament they were ion the 1970s... Hence the message that Hyper wanted to use as an example. Read the message Stew, the rest is irrelavant.

The only negative thing I could think of...is that it came out in 2016...4 years later...but its still stunning!

The LF-LC was mentioned....but alas, this is NOT the LF-LC I fell in love with. Sure it has some little details that remind us this is the production version of the LF-LC... Im afraid its the usual case with concepts and reality....too little, too late. Still a good looking car though, but I dont lust for it the way I did for the LF-LC back in 2012.

I did not see the hit. Im off of the NFL until the Superbowl comes along. And NO, it aint because of the commercials... I HAVE ALWAYS WATCHED THE SUPERBOWL FOR THE GAME!!! Besides, the commercials have been shyte the last decade or so! Anyhoo, I wish I could have seen the hit (I know, I know. I could see it...internet is our good friend...my bestest friend IS youtube afterall... ) What I wanted to say is that Im glad that the NHL so far this season has been clean. Nothing scandalous with how the players have bodychecked each other...so far that is... That is of course nothing scandalous happened during the time I took off from watching the NHL too...Im not aware of anything... Yeah..CCAP...I quit on our Dallas Cowboys early...I usually dont do that, but I couldnt stomach it this year. The Bruins were also crap, so I couldnt bare BOTH of my teams losing. PS: Not that I have high hopes for the Bruins either. Im suprised that they win as much as they do...

I had to think long and hard....not about this Buick..I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS THING! For posting in here... Anyhoo, life continues and I understand reasons. This thing is GREAT. This makes the ATS coupe (and it dont matter if V Series is included) OBSOLETE! This makes ANY BMW coupe in 2 and 4 Series trim OBSOLETE! The Audi A5, which was a beauty itself, has made the A5 look like an average joe. Yes Casa, how does Cadillac top this???!!! Well...this is definitely a good thing for Cadillac as good 'ol fashioned INTERNAL competition is a good thing! Just as how it was in the "good 'ol days". Both brands could feed off each other. As for naming this car goes. 1. I DON'T want Grand National or GN or GNX or GS or GSX...the Avista is PONY CAR sized, not MIDSIZED muscle 2. This is NOT a Riviera. Someone else pointed out that a Riviera was a PERSONAL LUXURY COUPE....that suggests a BIGGER car. 3. I dont even want Wildcat, although Wildcat might fot this car perfectly. Why I dont want Wildcat? Because Buick has revived itself quite successfully in North America with new nameplates. Enclave, Verano, Encore are all new names that enjoy HUUUUGE success. Lacrosse is a luke warm success as Lacrosse debuted during the "old GM" era. So has Enclave, but the Enclave was part of the "new GM" before going bankrupt while the Lacrosse was a W-Body... Regal...not quite successful... So...I see a pattern. An old name glorifying the past may not be the answer. A new name BLASTING TOWARDS the FUTURE making a FUTURE legend in my opinion is the way to go. Wildcat was a GREAT car...back in the 1960s...I think its time for Buick to recreate a new legend. With the exception of Riviera...the name Riviera should be kept...because the name also oozes cool and ritziness and...European...notice how Verano also has an air of Euroness to it?... Come to think of it, Avenir is a French word for future... I dont like the name Avista though.
