Ive got the date etched on my wedding band on the inside. And her too, while our names our on it. Hers in mine and mine in hers. It also helps that my son was born on the 5th of June while our wedding day was on the 7th. PS: Happy Anniversary that is not quite an anniversary, Drew. About that Camaro. How 'bout that new Camaro? Awesome aint it? Id say yes. However, if I was buying pony car, it'd be the Mustang. GT or GT350. Why? I like the look better. I still cant get past that Transformers connection. Im trying hard to accept it. I cant. I find the Alpha Camaro is just sublime in looks. It captures perfectly the 1st gen Camaro. Just how the the Mustang was in 2005. However, the more I look at the new Mustang, the more I love it. With the Camaro, the more I look at it, I marvel how fast and composed it really is. I marvel how slim and athletic and American it looks, and then the 2008 New Camaro Bumblebee screams at me!

One of the Vegas hotels a few years ago had Maybachs for their shuttles...Luxor, I believe...I remember walking past a row of 4-5 of them. My choice of words might have been too harsh for M-B, Ill admit to that. However, Cadillac is not viewed as top tier 1 luxury for it to have shuttle services for the uber rich to cater to. So in that regard, the uber rich will just laugh at Cadillac and the hotel... The comped special guests will adore the fact they are getting a ride in a Cadillac...but that is the thing, these people will get a kick riding in anything... Cadillac needs to distance themselves from that...Cadillac needs to focus on the Burj Al Arab folk....many moons will pass before they get there...but they need to forget about livery service I say and just focus on making the best they can. In due time, those Phantoms will be replaced by El Mirajs and Ciels...

However....does it not seem contradictory to want Cadillac to become less obtainable and let Buick offer the volume while having a 4 cylinder CT6? And...especially using the CT6 as a livery service of ANY kind? NYC, Los Angeles, Montreal, Moscow, Beijing, or anywhere? I get that countries, save for the US and Canada, have limits on displacement and penalize owners heavily when they buy them big cubed engines so a 4 cylinder is needed, but in America...that is not the case. I wouldnt offer the CT6 with the 4 cylinder in the US and Canada just because of what was said....Cadillac should NOT be in the driveways of Tom, Dick and Harry. Only the rich and sexy people... And I especially dont want Cadillac cars be in livery services....not yet at least. Let Mercedes prostitute themselves with Las Vegas Casino shuttle services...its fitting for the them and the city... There is the Escalade that could fill those shoes...and Classic Caddys...but definitely NOT the CT6 or a future CT8... As far as Park Avenue in NYC is concerned...maybe when Cadillac builds their image up again when people actually lust after their products could Cadillac enter this prestige area of chauffeuring people to and fro from airports to Waldorf Astoria hotels...maybe they should forget about Las Vegas and Mercredes Benz and focus more on Rolls Royce and the Burj Al Arab...

Tesla, Doomed to Failure? Bob Lutz thinks so!
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
I LOOOOOVE that pic... It was a sarcastic meme made by an environmental nut who had written a blog about Lutz's Destino project. I forget what he wrote, but it was not nice regarding V8s and cars... I just enjoy it because I find comfort in that truth about Lutz and his love for V8s in cars... Yup, I aint an enviro nut... I enjoy a Tesla Model S for what a car crazy guy gets all crazy for... Stupendous instantaneous torque at ANY RPM, stupendous crazy speed in a 4 door sedan....sounds like a muscle car to me. And yup...I love me some muscle cars!- 62 replies

Tesla, Doomed to Failure? Bob Lutz thinks so!
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
The technology is evolving at a very quick pace... When will EV technology in recharging and battery packs be at the equivalent level of gasoline powered cars? Well....that is the fun part...to wait and see. When was America's roads all paved from coast to coast? When was Route 66 finally phased out in favor of the American Highway system? When, and most importantly, how long and how much money, did it take to supply America with a gas station every 2 miles across every inch of the continental United States of America? EVs and charging stations and serious thought into battery technology is a relatively new thing...think back to when the automobile was first created...in the 1890s...how long did it Henri Ford to produce his Model T? And how long after that did America get concrete roads and gas stations?- 62 replies

http://gas2.org/2015/02/25/tesla-model-s-2nd-best-selling-large-luxury-car-america/ In 2014...the Model S was the second most popular large sedan in sales at 18 400 units sold versus the M-B S class at 25 000 units. In third place was a very distant BMW 7 Series at half of that of the Model S at 9700 units. In 2015, I dont know what the numbers are...I dont think the Model S has cooled off though. As far as off-roading goes with EVs... Its too bad you werent born when the automobile was first invented...no roads OR gas stations back then....range anxiety existed back then also, but it was a way of life...to off raod your Model T... Look, 1920s Dodge too... Can we stop with unnecessary bashing just to find faults? Hyper mentions that Tesla owners think Musk or the Model S is Jesus Christ... What...Lamborghini owners dont think their Lambos are Jesus? Or BMW owners thinking they could do what they want? What about diesel pick-up truck owners....the OPPOSITE of EV owners....with their rolling coal crap?- 62 replies

Tesla, Doomed to Failure? Bob Lutz thinks so!
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
I aint a follower of Tesla, nor a hater. My views are simply the opposite of a few that see what they wanna see... Some just take a few numbers that they deem to be true because it fits their agenda of...hatred... I posted a link to which a COUNTRY other the the USA...Telsa's headquarters...is gonna invest BILLIONS in infrastructure to make sure that EVs last... http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-33886180 And apparently it has been implicated elsewhere already... So...we could all have a blind eye to it...because we think we are righteous in our minds....but the real world says otherwise... And THAT is why NOBODY even addressed that link... you guys could IGNORE me all you want...the thing is...when I post links that contradict your perfect world...I LAUGH...and just re-post and laugh some more... here...a nice picture that I actually deem to be the funniest thing Ive seen in a LOOOONG time....I saw this pic 2 years ago... ENJOY! But...dont get mad when I tell you guys that Tesla is here to stay!!! They got a product that people actually want...The Model S...the approx. $100 000 Model S is selling quite well for its price tag...and remember...its an EV....not a M-B S-Class...an EV...range anxiety and all...but why bother with THAT reality! Its OK...here is the pic I want you folk to enjoy!- 62 replies

If that later XL-7 is of a Saturn Vue depicting sadness, is a Red Line Vue one that is depicting anger and rebeliion? What about a Chevrolet Captiva? Is that one depicting a lonely and very confused Satrun Vue? One that was abandoned by his parents at birth and is an orphan? I have no idea what you're talking about dude... I'm just talking about the headlights on the XL7 that look like they're crying. Suzuki_XL7_--_08-28-2009.jpg Ah! Yes, yes. I could see that! I did not know what you were talking about either, because too lazy to actually read previuos posts, if any , I just decided to read that post I quoted at face value and just blurt out what first came to my mind. OK...Ill explain... I thought you were talking about a Suzuki XR7 as being a model that personifies a Saturn Vue crying. (Because If Im not mistake, same platform) So...in keeping with my insanity when it comes to posting, I decided to up the ante and personify a Red Line Vue as a rebellious and angry Vue. And throw in for good measure a badge engineered Chevy that was an Opel and a Saturn as an orphaned Vue...because Saturn was killed off by GM...by Saturn's parents...hence the comment that the Captiva is a lonely and abandoned Vue... Yes I know...many screws are loose in my brain area...short circuits as well. Hopefully you got a giggle or two out of it though. Because I like making people laugh. If not, Ill try harder next time....OH YES! MOAR INSANITY!

Tesla, Doomed to Failure? Bob Lutz thinks so!
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in Tesla
Even I did not think you are so foolish to think Lutz led them to Chapter 11. By the time Bob showed up they were already knocking on the door. He was brought in to fix what he could in a limited time with nearly no money. To do what he did is a credit to his skills. The budget on the GTO was nothing and he was still able to pull it off. It was so tight the hood scoops and split exhaust had to wait a year. The Solstic's help put a renewed focus on Pontiac as well as the G8 but it was too little and too late as they really had nothing else to offer. Bob did help with the Camaro return and he also started the Culture change that is still ongoing at GM as he said when he got there the culture was severely damaged. He also help funnel a ton of what money they had left in to new projects that would carry them out of Chapter 11 like the Cruze, Nox and other models. He brought us the HHR that many said was too late yet it sold almost every year well into the six figures in volume much higher than any Cobalt wagon would have. The bottom line is Bob got more right than wrong and was the start of many of the things going right today at GM. As for Tesla who gives a Sh*T bout a SUV with more power if you can't charge it in the same time it takes to fill the tank on a Gas Powered car. Most people will not wait 30 mins at a charging station that they had to drive 45 min out of their way if they are lucky to wait in line for the 30 min charge. Until someone even Tesla can make a EV that is not a life style changer it will remain a novelty to most average buyers. Here in Ohio a EV like a Tesla is more of a second car or a pain in the ass if you drive much. 200 miles may be good as a commuter in LA but out here it does little if you travel any were far. Turn the heater on in the winter and you had better keep close to home. But what about a whole country investing BILLIONS in the engineering of NEW road infrastructure to recharge as you drive those awful batteries you claim was tacky for Musk to tell abusive assholes to stop abusing taking out the need to charge your battery at a charge station... From 2013 that article http://www.theengineer.co.uk/automotive/in-depth/your-questions-answered-inductive-charging-for-road-vehicles/1015724.article from 2015...closer in being a reality... http://www.cnbc.com/2015/08/20/high-tech-roadways-that-could-charge-your-vehicle.html http://money.cnn.com/2015/08/18/technology/uk-electric-cars-roads/ PS: I agree with the Bob Lutz stuff you said...- 62 replies

WOW! Those are some nice lines to that car! It feels like a Japanese Maserati Grand Turismo! I would prefer less of a chopped roof line, the car definitely exudes sex appeal and style.

Home Electric and EV Charging Discussion
oldshurst442 replied to G. David Felt's topic in The Lounge
With home heating bills like that, I would think a geothermal system would pay off in 15 years, sooner if you get any rebates or credits.... plus your house would increase in value by about 75% of the cost of the system you installed. Fairly easy math if you can swing it financially. I think I could get rebates and credits from that eco subsidies the province allows...plus an additional home renovation credit on my taxes...I think our current Prime Minister re-instated that...tax credits on ANY home renovation... So yeah...it is something I was thinking about doing next summer actually. -

So...I just googled Tesla and the powerwall... As my partner was explaining it to me (I was still in awe of him mentioning to me he bought a P85D) ...I did not quite catch that the battery works with solar panels that convert the suns energy into electricity that gets stored and recharges the battery which in turn inverts that DC electricity into AC to power your home... I was under the impression that the battery gets recharged with the Hydro-Electric power lines....this is an even better idea...solar panels...other than the cost of buying and installing....free energy. -

Yeah...geothermal. This is not an area of expertise that I have , so bare with me. And unfortunately, natural gas is not available in my area. Otherwise I would have opted for it from the get go. I love cooking with gas, either in the kitchen or BBQ...I would have connected my BBQ directly to the home lines...no more stupid empty propane gas tanks and running to fill them up every so often!!! (maybe open flames and gas lines are not such a good idea... ) (I am talking about that flaming emoticon....yeah...I know...yet another corny joke....Im full of them.) My business partner just bought himself a Tesla Model S P85D...he showed me what Tesla wants to do with a home battery system set-up...maybe that wuld be in the cards too...to power the electric heater I got. -

It looks like you're billed on 2 month cycles? Quick division says that at your worst, you were paying 9.2 cents per kWh from January to March. Not terrible, but not great when you're using 10k kWhs. What fuel do you use to heat your house and have you looked at alternatives? My electric bill just dropped in half to $80 a month on budget billing and I expect it to drop even further over the next year. I just had a new high efficiency furnace and A/C system installed. I used to have window A/C units and my gas furnace was 65 years old. Oddly, we used more electric in the winter than in the summer because the blower on that old furnace burned up so much electricity that the lights would dim when it kicked on. I also had the electrical box upgraded from 60amp fuse service to 150amp breakers. I had them leave a provision for another 220 line in case I need a car charger in the future. ELECTRICITY...and only electricity is the fuel I use. Im thinking about installing a thermal pump. When I built the house, I had all plumbing and electrical wiring done to accommodate a thermal pump. Yeah...two month cycles...and yeah...it is that expensive in the winter...and it was cold during December-March last year....2 years in a row. And...this year, rates went up in April 2015, so, if El Nino does not kick in and we get another record breakin cold winter, it will be probably more than 9.2 cents. -

I think we do. The requirements are in one of the links that I posted earlier. But let it be known though....Quebec is a fickle bitch...some technologies are not loved by the Province of Quebec...so Im not too sure which ones are and which technologies are not. I never thought of solar panels so I dont know too much about them and how Quebec feels about it. At DFELT Yeah...Hydro-Quebec offers EPP...an equal payment plan to which the costs are averaged over the course of the year so each month comes to the same amount...which for me..was $208/month... Notice I said was...$208/month Our rates went up last year and for two years in a row...very cold winters...my new per month bill will be around $240/month...yeah...it shot up $30/month
