  1. Yeah, I see your point Drew and Ccap. I too, dont think a 318 is a different model from a 335 and a 4 Series different model from the 3 Series. What I was talking about though, is a 6 Series Grand Coupe 4 door different from the 5 Series the platform is based on and a M-B CLS different from the E Class that it is based on. CCAP, Yes, it is the blue GT350R that Ford introduced last year at NAIAS. And yes, I realize that Ford is not making that colour available, however, If I was in the market for one, not only would I NOT mind spending that much coin on a GT350....the regular GT 350, because the 'R' version might be a tad too extreme for my needs, but Id spend money scrapping the white and blue stripe paint job that Id be ordering it in, and Id pay to have it PAINTED that shade of blue from an outside firm... PS: I was part of the problem as to why that thread was locked. My message to another poster, while not insulting or anything, was not a friendly response. I made it clear to that poster that I dont really care for him all that much.
  2. I think part of the issue is referring to all of those vehicles as "models" They aren't models... they are trims and body styles. The Germans are by far the worst in this with BMW being the most absurd. It was an article I had intended to write last year but work took precedence. I went back and looked at my notes. If you go buy what BMW considers a unique model, they have 98 (!!!) models in their lineup (as of December 2014)... but that's because they consider the 28 variants of the 3/4 series to all be unique models. .... as a matter of fact, maybe I should finish that article. You are correct. I labeled them incorrectly. While the Germans are the worst I fear that everybody is growing that route with cars like the ST/GT/RS(don't get me wrong, I LOVE the idea of more performance cars in a lineup) but they cost money and eventually people won't be buying at the rate we are right now. I was just curious if I was the only one who had thought of this as a growing concern that could possibly put us back where we were in 08-09 if we slow down our rate of purchase. I think the Germans feel like they need to fill out every niche possible so as to when there is another slow down in sales, they would have covered most of their bases with every single type of model and trim so it would be easier to let go of the niches that dont sell and it wont matter because they are represented in another niche...
  3. Yes. It is quite the looker. With all being said about where Cadillac is at and where Cadillac is heading. I cant wait for Cadillac to get their bespoke engines and their stand-alone dealerships...or at the very least, break off from the rest of GM's sales departments to offer their own real luxury experience. Some of that what SMK is talking about is 'perception'....Allantes and XLR's aside. The CT6, the CTS and the ATS are vehicles that are on par, or better, than ze Germans. They will finally SURPASS ze Germans when the aforementioned bespoke engines and "bespoke" sales experience hits the market place.
  4. Its like looking at Medusa. Dont look at its face, you will turn to stone and die!
  5. keep on being sarcastic, BLU. Your sarcasm is a breath of fresh air.
  6. The CT6 is not a stop gap. It may not be a stop gap, but Johan did say the CT6 is NOT the halo car that Cadillac needs it to be either, something the previous brass said that the CT6 WAS the halo car that the world was waiting for... Bankruptcy had a play in that and Johan being brought in to really make Cadillac top tier aside...the way SMK describes the situation over at Cadillac is eerily accurate. The thing is, none of that is new. We knew that the CT6 was not going to be the top Caddy before any of us here even saw it. Johan said as much before it was revealed. Why is any of this news to anyone here? It ant news to me...and Im sure it aint news to SMK either. Drew, you got to admit, from the Allante, to the Cadillac that zigs, to the Bulgari interior XLR, to the STS-V that entered rockin'-n-a-rollin' while its German rivals "quivered' to the CT6...not much progress has been made in SURPASSING the Germans. Progress has been made in gaining a tad more respectability with the Germans and with the public, but Cadillac is still chasing the Germans...and I think THAT is what SMK is sayin' And I also think he is sayin' that Cadillac will NEVER catch up as they seem to ALWAYS be a couple of steps back. Although I disagree with him there, we both really cant fault him with that opinion he holds. Because so far, his opinion holds truth to it!
  7. Greenest car company? Toyota? With all those Toyota SUVs and CUVs and Lexus SUVs? Add all those up and Toyota has MORE gas guzzling SUVs in their line-up than GM had when they peddled HUMMER! I ALWAYS wanted to post this emoticon, but I never knew when and how to post it... Low and behold, THIS is the PERFECT time and thread!
  8. LOVE. THIS. POST.
  9. The CT6 is not a stop gap. 10. I read the article yesterday, and already I forgot the brands the article mentions that time forgot...
  11. Why bother learning it? There is no need to fill up your memory with that stuff... Use the internet as an extension of your brain and your memory. That is what Google is there for.
  12. Cadillac goes their own way, they aren't in lock step with the Germans... Im not too sure about that statement. 1. Cadillac has admitted that they want to target and mimic BMW and take the fight to the Germans. 2. Alphanumeric names. As much as I love Cadillac, and as much as SMK loves to stick it to Cadillac and praise his beloved Mercedes Benz...he does have a point here...
  13. YUP! Cant argue with you there. It does appear to be that way, doesnt it???!!!
  14. I dont really care how much this GT350 costs...Its quite a simple choice for me...since I dont drag race, nor autocross, its all about the look for me... And the GT350 simply looks astonishing! Lack of low end grunt? I hardly think so...the thing has got enough grunt to scoot in city streets and on ramp acceleration shenanigans... More than that and my license to drive would be revoked...where is the fun in that? GT350 is where my hard earned cash would go! (if we were ONLY talking about a Camaro SS and a Mustang.GT350, throw in the other cross town rival with the cute little kitty on the fender and its a different story)
  15. Like I always say. Google is your friend.
  16. Being from Montreal Im supposed to dump on Toronto MORE than you. Toronto...its a big city now. ILL NEVER SAY ANYTHING GOOD ABOUT TORONTO! Im sad about the Jays though!
  17. Montreal's show is crap. No real vintage stuff to talk about. Its there. They make an appearance...but it aint big. Same for the Italian stuff. Its during Grand Prix week that the enthusiast stuff comes out from hiding. Like you said, the new stuff, its Detroit, and when our show happens practically at the same time as Detroit...ours sucks big time! But it aint that bad....Toronto's show sounds like an interesting one though.
  18. Leafs game. Take in a Leafs/Habs game... those lately have become fun to watch. Th Montreal International Auto Show has lost its luster to Toronto...like everything else. But we are slowly getting it back. The last couple of years, we have had several Canada first reveals. The El Miraj is one of them...I think the Acura TLX was another. Dont quote me on this, but I also think the Cadillac ELR was another... The Japanese car makers give us a little of that bone more than Detroit does...stupid Toronto...actually....the main culprit is Detroit's Auto Show. The year starts off in Detroit and the Montreal show is a week or two later.
  19. Me too. I was in awe to see how sleek she is. Montreal beat you though. The El Miraj made its Canadian debut in MONTREAL! So much for Alberta oil calling the shots.
  20. Yeah well... Heil Hitler back to you! Did you know that Hitler may have not actually committed suicide back in May of 1945? Your leader actually survived the war!!! Kudos for him and to you! In the mean time...it wont be long when Cadillac will jump back above Mercedes Benz...it aint hard to do actually... Looking at how Maybach keeps on failing...I wouldnt put M-B that much high on a horse if I were you....but hey...however cooks your goose...step.
  21. Speaking of which...I did the trick or treat thing tonite with my kids... One of my neighbors, 2 streets down, got himself a brand new Z06. White. Alls I can say is wow. Its quite the stunner in person. Another on the same street has a brand new Volt. Blue. That too looks good. In pictures it looks like a Honda Civic. Not so much in person. Same street, as its a huuuuge crescent with another inner crescent...well, many new Cadillacs. The ATS. At least 5. One of which is the coupe. All with the 2.0T. Back to the Camaro. Its such a confusing thing for me. I just took my wife's Fusion in for the 2 recalls on it and at the same time I put on the mandatory winters on, and in the showroom was a couple of Mustangs. One ecoboost and one white 5.0 GT with all kinds of aerodynamic ground effect spoilers, I think from the factory. No, not a special trimmed Mustang, just a regular 5.0, anyway, it was white with black wheels and the spoilers were also black. What a gorgeous lookin' thing. I go back and forth to what pony car I would want had I been in the market for one, but that white 5.0 GT that is in the Ford showroom close to my home as we speak would probably be THE one. Granted, I have not seen the Camaro in person, so that opinion might change again, but as it stands right now, at 9:35 PM Eastern October 31, 2015, its that white 5.0 Mustang GT at Advantage Ford dealership in Pincourt Quebec that is winning my heart.
