  1. Without knowing what the issue is, it's hard to suggest something specific (not that I'm asking for you to explain). So, here's a generic suggestion. If you did something to someone else, fix it. Apologize, make amends, do whatever it takes to make it right. If someone did something to you, forgive them, let it go and move on.
  2. I have no lack of confidence in my ideas and opinions, but I've also always been a fairly quiet, reserved person especially when I'm around people I don't know well. Part of this is because I'm just socially awkward but I also don't like to be the focus of attention. I get more out of listening to what other people have to say than listening to myself.

    Both (but that's no secret)

I continue to be amazed at the number of gay car guys here. Where were all you people when I was growing up?
  5. I guess it all depends on what your definition of 'Best' is.

    CHEESE

You had me right up to the crumbled bleu...blech!
  7. This is just the tip of the iceberg of the kind of stuff I expect to be able to see after I die and if I don't get to see it and understand it, I'm going to be highly upset!
  8. You're absolutely right and for me that is a big part of why it had such an impact. The entire movie was crafted with such realism and there wasn't a false note in any of the performances. It is a tragic story and for the people who didn't quite 'get' the movie, I suspect it may be because they don't look at the story through the eyes of the two main characters, the time period and the location. If the filmmakers had not followed the story on which the movie was based, if they had tried to give it a happy ending, it would have ruined the whole thing. I continue to be amazed at the performance of Heath Ledger in this role. He should have been given an oscar for the single scene where he is at Jack's parent's house. The range of emotion displayed through the most subtle of facial expressions was incredible.
  9. OK, there is just too much that is odd about this story. I find it hard to believe that a substitute teacher would try to secretly show this movie to the students for no apparent reason other than to show it. I also find it hard to believe that, even at 12 years old, anyone could be psychologically damaged by it. I can easily see how the girl wouldn't be able to understand the emotional depth of the story, but there's really nothing explicitly shown that she couldn't have already seen on television. If the girl claims to have been damaged by seeing the movie, then it is only because her greedy, opportunistic grandfather told her she was damaged by it. In the interest of full disclosure, this is also the best movie I have ever seen. I still get emotional just hearing the first two notes of the soundtrack.

    Decepticon!!!!
  11. I heard mention about this on the radio during the drive into work this morning. They said ABC wanted her to sign up for 3 more years and she only want to sign up for 1. I was surprised. I just figured it would have been the other way around but then they gave the ratings numbers and apparently she did bring a huge boost to the show.
  12. The man's an idiot. I feel sorry for the horse having to stand around on hard concrete all night without food or water.
  13. I really like the Bonneville. Pontiac should go back to a new interpretation of that front end style. What they've got going on right now is pretty boring.
  14. There's something I've wondered about for a long time and I've never been able to find a good answer so if anyone has any idea, let me know. I don't konw if this is true in all countries, but in this country, you automatically become a citizen if you are born here. Why is that? It would seem to make more sense to me that your citizenship be whatever your parent's citizenship is (or at a minimum, the mother's) at the time you are born regardless of where you were born.
  15. How very Klingon of you! I guess I'm in the middle. Too soft or too hard wouldn't work for me. I need support, but I don't want a rock. I've been shopping around for a new mattress for a couple of weeks and I think I've finally decided on a natural latex mattress. I didn't care for the memory foam. It makes a good pillow, but a terrible mattress.
  16. ...and that pretty much sums up the story of my romantic life...
  17. Well, I don't know anything about you and Randy, but yeah, I picked up on the tent thing too.
  18. hmmm, I guess I don't quite get the humor. Before I saw it, I thought the deer was going to attack the guy because he didn't wear right guard and smelled bad. That would have been funny.
  19. Actually, I think that's pretty cool (no pun intended!). Being German, it couldn't be much different than if they asked you to wear lederhosen, could it? You'd end up showing more of your legs with lederhosen than with a kilt.
  20. It's indirectly related I guess, but I have a friend whose father only bought Chevrolet vehicles for nearly 30 years. He claims to have had so many problems with his last Impala (not the new body style, the previous model and I have no idea what these problems were) that he went and traded it in on a new Hyundai Sonata, simply for the warranty. My friend had a Dodge Stratus for nearly 9 years and had multiple problems including having the head gasket fail two times. I just found out yesterday that he traded it in on a Sonata too...for the warranty. This just makes me ill.
  21. Hmmm, well, if spam is still circulating in 2032, I guess we didn't blow ourselves up.
  22. Thank you for your concern, but please don't worry, I'm actually OK. I probably shouldn't ask these types of questions without putting them more in context. I know I'm not unique by any means . I assume other people must be going through situations similar to mine and this is a good place to get feeback from a diverse group of people. (I also want to give a quick thanks to everyone who posted a reply, I appreciate it.) You are right, I don't start topics often and when I do, they are philosophical in nature and they tend to be more negative than positive. However, that's a good thing. I don't ask questions about good things in life or things I think I've figured out. Since my topics are few and far between, that means my life has more positives (or neutrals) than negatives. I believe life has no meaning in and of itself. It is up to each of us to find and/or create the meaning in our lives. I have several areas of interest that I enjoy, but for the most part, the real meaning in my life comes from the people I've been lucky enough to know well. I'm sorry there haven't been more I can put into that category, but since I'm not very comfortable with most people I meet, I tend to keep them at arms length. I'm more of a loner than a big socializer and while that presents its own set of issues at times, I've accepted it and I'm OK with it. I'm really not a negative person, I'm just trying to figure out 'life' and understand myself better. One way I see to do that is to get other people's perspectives on similar situations. My family seems to have very good genetics. I suspect I have many more years to figure this 'life' thing out. But, if I don't get it done before I check out of this life and into the next one (whatever that may be) I'm going to be demanding some answers from somebody!! Care to elaborate? I've only been in that position once and yeah, it was frustrating. Don't wait too long dude, you can't let anyone else have that much control over your life.
  23. Scientists of the world, I implore you to find the cause of the physiological changes that happen to a brain as it ages to make once sane people suddenly find something like that attractive. The scourge of the fake convertible roof must be eliminated from the face of the earth.
  24. Yeah, I have various interests, but I must be going through a phase or something. Nothing really seems interesting to me. Maybe it's just too much work or the post-winter, pre-spring blahs. I suspect this might be why we aren't immortal. We truly would go nuts if we lived forever.
  25. Ugh! Another Saturday night has come and gone. My life has settled into such a rut. I can sit in a chair and practically imagine the entire weekend in my head to the extenet that the experience would be nearly the same as living it. Shopping, cleaning, laundry, paying bills, going to the gym, going out to the bars...it's all become so repetitive and boring, I'm going a little crazy. Even the coming of spring just adds more home maintenance and yardwork into the mix. I try to shake things up to the extent I can, but being single I have to do everything myself. Getting the things done I have to do leaves me only a small amount of time for fun. All of my friends that I do things with socially are 'coupled' and I can only take that that feeling of being a fifth wheel for so long before it gets to me. So, all of you other single guys, how do you keep your life from becoming repetitive and mundane?
