    GO VOTE!

I was at my polling place at 6am when they opened and I was already third in line for my precinct. I've never missed voting in any election since I was eligible.
  2. Related to this topic, did anyone see the episode of 'American Dad' last night? That was just way too funny.
  3. I never thought twice about Doogie being gay. My gaydar never was well developed. I hate to admit it, but I do get some amount of pleasure from this whole Haggart fiasco. I know I shouldn't benefit from the troubles of other people, but he's such a freakin' hypocrite, I can't help it. I do feel sorry for his wife and his family for what they are going through. The softie in me even feels a small amount of sympathy for him. Even though his situation was of his own making, I can't imagine being in that position. I would have had a mental meltdown ages ago.
  4. I don't really have anything of substance to add beyond my agreement on all counts. I've been registered republican since I was first able to vote and I've recently decided to switch my registration to independent. None of the major parties reflect my beliefs any more. I didn't vote for Bush in either election but I didn't feel him being elected was a serious mistake until his second term. To be fair, I have little comfort in the thought of the democrats taking over, but I see no other way to force a shift in the direction of the ways things are going.
  5. Do you have any additional info on the three props? Can't vote until I know the details.
  6. for what it's worth... http://www.marriageequality.org/meusa/fact...ml?1049-federal
  7. OMG! there truly is a website for everything.
  8. feel free to sing along "Everybody was kung-fu fighting..."
  9. That would be me...thanks for the compliment. Maybe I'm weird, but I think about stuff like this a lot so I've had that answer for a long time. It does pretty much cover everything. You could ask how to solve any of society's problems and get the answer. The solution wouldn't magically happen, you'd have to work to implement it. The upside is that you could also ask to know what the long term effects would be of the "solution" before you changed anything. Who knows, maybe society is better off with certain problems. Everything is so interrelated it just fascinates me. I've never been much of a "stuff" person. I used to want to just "know" everything, but I realized that there are some things that we are better of not knowing. That's why the wish would be to only know the answer after posing the question. Of course, then the test of character becomes to never pose the question to things you shouldn't know. As I said, a double edged sword.
  10. Although it is definitely a double edged sword, I would want the ability to know the answer to any question I could ask. Think of the possibilities...
  11. Praise cheeses!
  12. I roamed the car lots again this weekend and saw my first Nito in person. It must have been a fairly base model as it was white with the gray fenders as opposed to being all while. Overall, I liked the looks of it but it would definitely look better in a different color without the gray fenders. The interior was nicely assembled but it didn't fit me very well. While the interior looked good, I don't think I felt anything soft anywhere. The whole interior was that same mixture of textured and smooth hard plastic that seems to have become typical of Chrysler interiors. My biggest complaint was the seats. When I sat in them, it felt like there was a metal bar just under the fabric at the front of the seat bottom and the back of the seat bottom let you sink in like a soft pillow. It felt really weird and was very uncomfortable on the legs.
  13. Boy, you guys are brutal. I changed my opinion of it when I acutally saw it in person and I like it...in certain colors. While I wish it had ended up looking like the Compass concept vehicle, I think it is definitely better looking than the Caliber. My biggest complaint is the interior, but I'm finding that is true of pretty much everything that Chrysler makes these days. I don't understand what they are doing making these cheap-o looking interiors on everything they build. You would think they would have learned the lesson that GM has so painfully learned about interior design. Cheap looking cars don't sell!!!
  14. My car was lightly covered in snow this morning here in Rochester, New York. We're about 60 miles from Buffalo where some areas near there got between 6 inches and 2 feet! Lake effect snow is a crazy thing.
  15. It does look good, but where's the rear bumper? This is going to get creamed when they do those rear impact tests. You back into anything and the rear hatch gets it.
  16. I don't like these 'replacement' buildings at all. To be fair, I didn't especially like the design of the twin towers either, but they did come to be an immediately recognized symbol of the skyline of New York. When I see this group of buildings, it's just another group of shiny glass skyscrapers to me. There isn't anything special about them. I think they missed a unique opportunity to design something significant, although having no talent in architecture, I can't honestly say what I think it should have been.
  17. I just saw my first Aspen at the dealership over the weekend. It was a top of the line black one with the gray interior and the light colored wood. It definitely looks better in the flesh. While I'm not a fan of the light wood with the light gray, it doesn't look cheap when you see it up close.
  18. I was afraid I was going to scroll down and see pictures!
  19. My Maxx came with one, but my preference would be not to have one. I never use it fully open. I sometimes tilt it up when I first get in the car to let the hot air escape but I always leave the sunshade closed. I don't like to have sun shining down behind my sunglasses and I don't like the noise. Plus, having a shaved head, I don't need a sunburn on top either.
  20. Now the opponents of stem cell research can rest happy that the fertilized clump of cells will remain whole when the fertility clinics throw them away.

    haircuts

I cut my own hair every moring in the shower with a triple blade razor. It always comes out looking the same.
  22. If anybody has photos of the evolution of this car (like what was posted for the Camaro) I would love to see them. I'd be curious to know if it was this badly proportioned and misshapen from the beginning or did it just <sadly> end up this way.
  23. I'm jealous...sort of. I bought and old house and fixed it up. I did almost everything myself. It turned out really well and I learned a lot. I had never done any of this stuff before. I enjoyed it and it was incredibly satisfying, but OMG was it a ton of work that dragged on forever! Best of luck. Make sure you post the 'after' photos.
  24. For what it's worth, let me second this. In the end, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. The only thing that matters is that you be true to who you are. When you stray from "who you are" you make yourself unhappy and the further you stray, the more miserable you will be. This is life experience that should have been second nature to me at this point in my life. But, I've had to learn it again over the past year and I still haven't been able to get myself back to 'happy'.
  25. Personally, I don't see why jeep is getting such grief over the Compass. I didn't care much for it until I saw it in person. I think it looks pretty good, at least in dark colors. I haven't seen a light colored one yet. I do think the interior leaves much to be desired as far as materials go, but it isn't ugly. Boring, yes, but not ugly. With the price of gas going up and most likely never coming back down to what it was, they have to have something inexpensive and economical to sell. The luxury SUV market cares less about the price of gas, but Jeep doesn't play exclusively in that market. They have to appeal to mainstream buyers in order to survive. As long as they are the 'best' in their segment as far as 4wd goes, I don't see a problem and I hope they do well.
