So you think they should sell a pickup the size of the poor-selling Ranger (or smaller) with a four-cylinder (in a market that demands V6s or larger) and only available in the worst selling body style? "Great" is not the word I'd use to describe such a plan.

This argument is getting so boring. Just because you fail to recognize facts doesn't mean these same facts don't exist.Driven over the same roads, I can't IMAGINE a lead-foot driven Cobalt getting much gas mileage relative to a Prius. But since I can't dispute your CLAIMS for 40 mpg (again, which I highly doubt), I'll leave it there. Second, what are these lies from Toyota? Their use of EPA estimates for gas mileage comparisons? You're calling Toyota the "king of lies" because they follow the law by using the ONLY fuel economy numbers that they're allowed in advertising? Numbers that were compiled by using the EPA's formula? How is Toyota lying? Lastly, the Prius is available with THOUSANDS of dollars in tax credits, which bring it way down in price. The Prius also pollutes less, but nobody seems to care about that. And the Prius is a larger car than the Cobalt, but again...nobody pays attention to the FACTS.

Chris: I saw you at the show...I think it was going into the Arena for one of the Ford introductions (Monday, I think). I didn't know who you were but I did see the "Brenda Priddy" badge on you and your cohort. Was this your first car show? Many of the points you made (food, press conferences, driving through the glass) made me think it was. You said you were walking around for two days, you missed a day? David Spade's help on the Caliber introduction was the highlight to that point...until the Aspen intro minutes later. For those of you who weren't there, I couldn't possibly describe it in adequate detail. But the skit from Slava's Snowshow was dramatic, comedic, and touching...all in just a few minutes on stage. But it built to the dramatic finale as the back of the stage opened up and a blast of "snow" came flying at the audience like a horizontal mushroom cloud, covering the attendees with more than an inch of shredded paper. It was dramatic and something that Chrysler has been delivering in its press conferences for more than a decade. In the past, they dropped a Ram truck from the ceiling, they jumped a Caravan across the stage (driven by a muppet), they drove a V10-powered motorcycle on stage, and they drove a Grand Cherokee in through the front windows of Cobo Hall, among other Detroit intros. In New York one year, they re-enacted the introduction of the Chrysler brand but replaced the period reporters with charactures of present day reporters (including Scott Oldham and Jerry Flint)...it was among my all-time favorite press conferences. David Spade's mocking of the Dodge Neon during the Caliber introduction was a missed highlight from this year's show.

Not that I'm defending tariffs, but almost all GM cars sold in China are BUILT in China. Tariffs are a tax on imports.

For what seems like the one-millionth time, EPA mileage ratings are NOT set by Toyota and cannot be falsified by Toyota. Get over it...Toyota designed a vehicle that beats the EPA test better than others!No matter how you cut it, the Prius DOES get better gas mileage than ANY mid-sized car.

The Geely isn't actually all that bad for a cheapo car. Don't expect it do be a Lexus...or even a Chevrolet, but it's a good inexpensive little car. They say it'll be priced under $10,000 when sales begin. If it's like the one I sat in, it had better be closer to $9,000, but it would do okay. The press information on it said that the one sold in the US will be TWO generations from the one I sat in. If this car is the third generation and the US market will get the fifth, then it'll be a good little $10,000 car.

The most famous person from my hometown, aside from me, is writer Dean Koontz. We had a professional baseball player back in the 1980s, but only briefly. Those folks are from different towns. Aside from regular maintenence (wiper blades, timing belt and oil changes) over 14 years and about 150,000 miles: Seatbelt recall at 40,000 miles Hoodlatch recall at 50,000 Thermostat at 65,000 Brakes at 75,000 (pads and discs) Alternator at 140,000 Brakes at 145,000 (pads and discs) Exhaust and catalytic converter at 145,000 Two batteries. Foglights ($10 a piece) all the time...they fail every two months or so, so I stopped replacing them. And headlight bulbs maybe twice. Can't think of anything else.

Similar to a post above, the Dodge Ram DOES offer an extended cab model, but not in the "suicide door" style that the others do. Dodge offers standard, extended (Quad Cab), and crew cab (Mega Cab) body styles.

I completely disagree. While this particular setup looks odd close-up, LED taillights make the car look MORE expensive. Sitting behind a deVille when turnsignals or brakelights come on looks impressive, especially when you see it next to a car with conventional taillights and you can compare just how fast the LEDs light up. It makes every other taillight look ancient.

Hey...Ford had to buy (or atleast get permission) from Chrysler for "Falcon" after their 1950s concept the Dodge Falcon.

Not too many modern American cars fit into this category since Americans don't like the shift-it-yourself style.

Having driven a number of cars (for extended periods of time) with XM and Sirius, I prefered XM. I'm not a Stern fan or Opie & Anthony (XM's equivalent) and I'm not a big sports person. I do, however, like a variety of rock music. I seemed to hear more repeats on Sirius while XM seemed to play more variety.

Agreeing with the above, it was sold in the US as the Fiat X1/9 from the early 1970s through 1981 and then sold as the Bertone X1/9 (imported by Malcolm Bricklin of Subaru and Yugo fame) from 1982 until 1988. Fiat left the US in 1982 but sold a number of models over the years.

Okay....first TOO MUCH INFORMATION. Second, Chrysler discussed building this car. I was so excited about the prospect of driving a production Atlantic (as a fan of the Bugatti Type 57 and Talbot-Lago, both of which can be seen in this design). But Chrysler dropped the idea when they failed to get the 4.0L DOHC inline-eight to balance properly.
