  1. I don't think that's really the reason. The economy is one reason. Source Interlink's over extension into the automotive field is another. And then there's the slow slide of print magazines, which is going to take more magazines (big name magazines) down in the near future.
  2. I found a connection between the people I dated and their cars over the years. If they drove a nice car, I didn't care too much about the person...not a long-term connection. But if they drove something less special (Tempo, Chevette, etc), then they were worth keeping.
  3. And which candidate would that be?
  4. How is that possible? You're saying that 85% of Obama supporters are black? Then how is head ahead in the polls unless most whites are not covered in the polls?
  5. I said the same thing about Bush in 2000. The difference is that I turned out to be overwhelmingly right.
  6. My sole problem with Obama is that he was in the spotlight before he ran for president. It was like the Democratic party picked him to be the candidate four years ago. He spoke at the Democratic convention in 2004.
  7. Obama, as far as everything I've read says, was born in Hawaii...a US state in the year he was born. McCain, on the other hand, was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which was under the control of the US in 1936, but is not and has never been a US state.
  8. I really enjoy how a thread that started as an announcement of the latest AFA move has turned into a Gay Love-fest. That's sticking it to those Bible thumpers!
  9. I can still remember watching CHiPs when they were chasing a guy in a older (1967-ish) Ford pickup as it veered off the highway and down an embankment. Switch the camera angle and the truck going over the side was a NEWER Ford pickup. I've never understood that one.
  10. I was watching the John Travolta film "The Experts" which was set in New York. In one scene, the main characters were riding in a limousine and a blurry car can be seen following it. I turned to my friends and said, "this movie must have been filmed in Canada." They asked why. I told them that the car in that scene was a Hyundai Stellar, which wasn't sold in the US. They rewound the tape (yes, this was about 17 years ago) and THEY couldn't make out any features of the car. At the end of the movie, it stated that the movie was filmed in Vancouver. And speaking of bad movies, the opening credits of "Mannequin 2," the main character drives his Jeep onto Kelly Drive in Philadelphia. The camera, mounted in the passenger seat, shows the driver with Boathouse Row in the background. For this scene to occur, the Jeep is heading OUT of Philadelphia intead of INTO the city, which is where the following scenes take place.
  11. I am assuming the idea of homosexual marriage is the legislation being discussed. As I stated before, I don't think homosexual marriage should be legalized...nor should heterosexual marriage. They should be BOTH legalized as "civil unions" legal term and churches should take care of "marriage" as a religious union. If a church agrees that two men (or two women) should marry, then more power to them. If a church decides not to allow that, it's their right to believe in that. But the separation of church and state, as I see it, should exist with this point. A gay couple should be allowed to have a civil union just like any straight couple, allowing both partners to the same rights of insurance, inheretance, etc.
  12. You will make a fortune from all of those gay Christians who are looking for a cure. I want to be an early investor!
  13. I missed that reference. My comparison between homosexuality and race is the fact that people are born with these "conditions" and that neither is "curable."
  14. Nice pictures, all!
  15. I'm loading my pictures up right now. Check them on my CarSpace page! www.carspace.com/hudsonthedog
  16. Shouldn't you, as a gay man, be offended by the "heterosexual movement and agenda?" If I were you, I'd be offended by it.
  17. What does this have to do with this thread?
  18. Oh, don't worry about me. While it's hard to hear the sarcasm dripping from my "offensive" tone because I can't get myself to use an emoticon, I knew where Balthazar was going...and I hope he took it as humor as well. If (big IF) I get offended by someone on here, you'll all know it. Don't worry about me. My skin's thicker than it looks.
  19. We've had a Democratically controlled Congress for two years and a George W. Bush administration for just shy of eight years. I don't know about your math, but TWO is not "almost" EIGHT. And that "Democratically-controlled Congress" doesn't mean they can pass whatever they want. There are 49 Democrats in Congress and 49 Republicans. Democrats don't even have a simple majority, let alone a filabuster-proof 60%. That's the first thing you've said that has made any sense.
  20. The government gives tax incentives to married couples but not to committed gay couples, which is wrong. The government should stay out of "marriage" which is a religious thing...and every committed couple, gay or straight, should be granted a "civil union" by the government for all of the legal reasons (health care, inheritence, etc) and "marriage" should remain in the church. There should be NO special treatment of homosexuals...or heterosexuals. Treat them all the same. Should there be a cure for being black? Or tall? Or female? Cause I'm pretty sure those people are born with those conditions as well.
  21. As someone who has lived most of their life more than "40 miles west of the Delaware," I take offense. While they might not be the most metropolitan people in the world (there's an understatement), it's hardly a scene from Deliverance. And they are very adept at working on trucks...I'd trust them well before I'd trust a Philadelphia region mechanic.
  22. I have been an opponent of the AFA for more than 20 years. They tried to impose their "lifestyle choice" on me and my friends back then. They were offended when they heard "the devil" mentioned in a song played in a public place and demanded that the radio be changed to a Christian or news station...or be turned off all together. Their response when someone said they wanted the ambient music was for everyone else to "bring a walkman" because three people were offended by a Great White song. There are other reasons to be offended by Great White, but the lyrics of "House of Broken Love" are not even close to the top of that list. The AFA is a very hypocritical organization. They're offended by a woman referred to as "the devil" mentioned in a song, but isn't THE Devil a primary character in the book they quote all the time? They were offended by Saturday Night Live where a "nude beach" sketch in 1988 mentioned "penis" 21 times...and the AFA used the same word in an AFA Journal article (about the sketch) 18 times. They opposed magazines like Playboy and Penthouse and even concocted a bogus report linking magazines such as these to the abuse of children and women to back up their story. The ONLY good thing about the AFA is that its founder Donald Wildmon is the reason behind George Carlin's "The Seven Words You Can Never Say on TV." The AFA and Donald Wildmon have given NOTHING positive to society beyond that. Oh, and perhaps to give me an antagonist to my life's story. I don't eat at McDonald's because of the food. But I would never knowingly avoid a company that the AFA was boycotting for any reason beyond bad products or bad corporate citizenship. Treating homosexuals fairly...is GOOD corporate citizenship. The AFA's stance is AGAINST what the Bible teaches. I always thought the basic principle behind the Bible was "do unto others." In that case, I think we should patronize every business on the AFA's boycott list and boycott anyone who supports the AFA. Seems only fair.
  23. I'm heading up Saturday. Call me (if you still have my phone number) if you need me to take stuff for you. Excuses...excuses...c'mon! Drop everything and do it! If you look REALLY REALLY closely, you can see Balthazar and I near the bottom of that picture.
  24. There are a number of vehicles on there that "ain't right." But that's what I focus on...how many restored '57 Chevys can you look at? Which pictures didn't open properly for you?
  25. Good catch on the Edsel grille. I'm fixing it right now. Funny you should mention the battery. I didn't find a whole lot to photograph...unless you count all of the second-generation F-bodies for sale (you read it here first: 2nd gen F-bodies are future collectibles). And when I went to take my first picture, the rechargables weren't charged...so I had to buy a new set of Duracells. The batteries will be charged for Hershey this Saturday. That picture you have of Hershey is great...but it's small; the show has grown since 2003. See you Saturday!
