Well that's write off. Maybe braked too late and applied too much pressure. They locked up instantly.

Tesla wants have a self driving car built in 3 years
J Reinhardt replied to J Reinhardt's topic in Tesla
Well once that happens the lobbyists and policiticians will get involved in trying to ban autonomous cars from Google and promote the autonomous cars from the car company that's paying them. -
Tesla wants have a self driving car built in 3 years
J Reinhardt replied to J Reinhardt's topic in Tesla
So many good points raised here. My concern is, young drivers would be ill prepared to drive the car themselves in the event the self drive mechanisms fail. Or what happens if the self driving car actually causes an accident or death? It only takes one and then consumers get scared off and we're back to sqaure one. -
Auto trannies will be even more expensive once they start using dual clutch transmissions.

I like it. It looks like a giant imposing rhinoceros. Can't wait to see the AMG Black Series version. 1000hp perhaps?

Such an amazing driver. Those F1 cars looked like beasts to handle. No traction control, abs, power steering, manual gearbox. You have to fight it to keep it under control. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rh6bwZ4ooTI

Both cars aren't fun to drive from a enthusiast standpoint. The versa looks like it delivers bread or something. I'd rather get a Fiesta or Mazda 2, or Honda Fit.

So Tesla, or more specifically, Elon Musk, said the company wants to have a self driving car on the road within 3 years. Musk is being realistic about this venture. The entrepreneur and futurist clarified that Tesla's self-driving car would give the computer 90 percent control of the vehicle. Otherwise, it would take much longer to get one on the road, since "it's incredibly hard to get that last few percent." Source: http://gizmodo.com/elon-musk-is-building-a-self-driving-car-because-of-cou-1340946551 I really don't like the idea of self driving cars. Driving is one of favorite hobbies and I would hate it this is taken away from future generations. What do you guys think?

Have you considered trading it in for something more reliable? -

Japanese Suppliers Nailed With $740 Million In Fines And Prison Time
J Reinhardt replied to J Reinhardt's topic in Toyota
Exactly. I'm pretty sure the profits they made more than cover the amount of the fine. Plus, when the executives get out prison (most likely white collar prison) they'll still have their fortune as well. -
Gone in 60 Seconds (2000 version). The star of this movie is Eleanor. one of my favorite quotes: "See ya tomorrow night, Eleanor, with your fine ass." Ronin. It has one of the greatest chase scenes ever filmed.

So is this is why my dealer wanted to charge me $150 for one coilpack. It's a bad day to be Hitachi Automotive Systems, Mitsubishi Electric or one of several other Japanese automotive parts suppliers. Nine companies today were hit with a combined $740 million in fines as part of a wide-ranging price fixing scheme, and their executives are headed to prison. http://jalopnik.com/japanese-suppliers-nailed-with-740-million-in-fines-an-1403734890 Does anyone else believe that Mitsubishi, Hitachi and the other companies did this on purpose knowing that the profit they will make will outweigh the amount they would be fined?

Good news: a Mafia hitman was hired to talk to the lawyer and make sure he "see's things our way."

And how it's built as well. The engine and dual clutch transmission are hand built by a single technician. Just like the Corvette Z06 and ZR-1.

PIAA Super Silicone Wipers
J Reinhardt replied to J Reinhardt's topic in Product Questions and Reviews
I had the Bosche wipers on my last car for a few months before I sold it and they worked pretty well. I find that if you also use the Rain X spray as well. It better protects the windshield. -

So I installed these on my Subaru 6 months ago and thought I'd share my review. PIAA Super Silicone Wipers "18 Passenger Side "24 Driver's Side I ordered these from tirerack.com. They're about $25 each. I'm from Canada so the conversion and shipping almost came up to $100. So they're obviously the most expensive pair of wipers I've ever purchased. Installation was quite simple. The wipers come with several clips adaptors so there should be one suitable for the type of wiper assembly your car has. Mine is the hook type so it was just a matter of taking off the old wipers and clipping on the new one. Once installed, it is recommended to leave your wipers running for about 10 minutes so that they can spread the silicone coating evenly on your winshield. I did it for about 5 minutes instead. So six months later and they still work really well. No streaking, no noises and any rain just beads off the windshield. However, I wouldn't recommend them due to the price I paid for it because you can a similar set of wipers for much less that will do the same job. I just wanted to try out a PIAA product as I heard good things about them and can't find them anywhere where I live.

I installed a momo shift knob in my Subaru Legacy this past weekend. It's one of those aluminum ones. So far, I'm enjoying the feel of it. It's much lighter and less bulky than the stock one. Got it for $20 off ebay.

It seems like Toyota is aiming for different buyers with the new Avalon. 60+ buyers of the previous generation will have to look at Buick or Lincoln instead. But the sales figures don't lie. So far, Toyota has sold more Avalons this year compared to last. Does anyone else see a slight resemblance to the Tesla Model S?
