  1. Here we go in the do loop again, the 361 was cancelled and replaced with the 360NG+. The 361 was cancelled because it turned into an albotrose of a program with costs out of control and the investment could not be justified for the market transition for crossovers. 361 was a huge program. As for the ridicule part - really your original post made no sense. All of GM's plants for some time have been retooling for a flexible body shop. Eventually all the plants will look like Eisenbach and LGR and DGR. You earlier post did not talk about the body shop but ...

Come on, the thread was started by the BM, what does one expect.
  3. That is why you cast a net as large as they did.
  4. Your earlier post made no sense. "Word is interiors take only a year, and with this new machine that doesn't need tooled stampings, only....... "Computer Math" programed into it ........ to create a body panel, almost anything's possible." In hindsight, if you were refering to C-Flex etc, like GD said that is old news. "When GM picked up their pens again on Zeta mid last year, it was to develop the "Chevy" Zeta. GM has cancelled the new Trailblazer to fund this program, and postponed the next Malibu, and made alot of other changes." And BTW - 361 was cancelled because of a bloated budget and shrinking market. You would need to understand what 361 was all about what lead to the NG360+. Because of Camaro - hahah

Yea - I am sure BM is still in the closet as well. I bet you he has the scar to prove it! Just afraid to admit it.

Since he will not answer that, I will do it for him, it was the Rothchields.
  8. Agree - from what I was told that may be what actually happens. Given that Holden only sold about 2000 down under it may be a really smart move.
  9. Where's Hogan?

I posted this before but I think it is appropriate again as the topic shifts back to the secret cults and and hidden agendas: I think someone should pass this on to Dan Brown. This could make for a greater book than the De Vince Code. Rober Lutz and the conspiricy to hide the fact his blood is of the offspring of Jesus and Mary thus passing on clues for future generation in mystical styling details on the next generation Tahoe. Rick Wagoner a member of the secret Illuminati incorporating secret sysmbols into the warning lights on the IP. Gary Cowger and Fritz conducting Pagan ceremonies in the D-Ham body shop in an effort to improve J.D Powers IQS while Jim Queen is sacrificing burnt offering to the Sun god in advanced engineering as a member of the Templar Knights in an attempt to make a vehicle more aerodynamic. All this, to keep the secret bloodline of Bob Lutz safe. But our hero, a mild mannered car salesman from a small blue collar town, Jim "BM" Dollinger knows the truth. The conspiricy is everywhere.
  11. True but let us look at the numbers: DPH has 24,000 UAW employees. GM is offering buy outs to app. 13,000 DPH/UAW employees. 5,000 of the 24,000 have the opportunity to flow back to GM. DPH appears to be preparing itself to be a lot smaller in the US when it emerges from BK. I am sure that once the current round of employees excepts the buyouts, it is possible that DPH will negotiate a third tier to their current pay structure for possible future new hires. The membership that is left may not balk if it does not affect them directly.
  12. Please tell us, "When E.F. Hutton talks, everybody listens!"
  13. Reuter is now reporting - it will happen next week.
  14. Ahh the Canaro program - I laughed hard when I was told that.
  15. Oh so very true - And I do not know if I will by it just yet from what I have been told - the NG Monaro might be just a rebadge Camaro.

Haypops - One can not argue with stupidity, ignorance and all around closed mindedness. Anyone with an open mind knows it is the Chinese, Arabs, Pakinstans, Indians and anyone that actually bought GM shares when it was over $30/share and still ownes them, that are to blame for the worlds problems. "sarchasm"
  17. GM! Suppliers! and because of that Me!
  18. It should happen next week!
  19. Either this or a show down - GM just raised about 3 billion in the last 6 months. I am also willing to bet GM will receive a % of DPH stock as a creditor in the restructured company that will be transfered to the retirement fund. This is probably best short term solution until the long term Sept 07 resolution can take place.

Just because someone is a Ph.D. or an academic does not justify an op-ed based on false facts and lack of data. What is his angle? Almost every single opinion the Doc. states I can refute with hard data? "Then there is the quality issue. Cadillac and Chevy are less reliable by miles than Lexus and Toyota. Even Hyundai has better five year reliability, and it offers a 100,000 mile warranty. If GM did that, the repair bills would likely break it." What is the metric? I know he does not have data available on his claims with regard to GM offering a 100,000 mile warranty since it is not public. This article is not even worth reading because it is political spin for some agenda. It is not based upon a document, hard look at the numbers and data. Isn't that what a Doc. is supposed to do. I know if his dissertation had as many holes as this long essay, I would have never approved it. He would still be helping out freshman in Intro To Econ. I do plan to go through his other articles I see online. He does appear to be a hack.

This article is the typical propaganda the BM likes to post. The BM likes the words for what they have to say, not that they are accurate. "The bigger the lie the more people believe it." I forgot where I read that, I think it came from a WWII book I read on the rise of the Third Reich!

No it is faulty math - According to GM's 8K released in January 06, GM lost (net income)11.3 billion in 2005, just in their auto operation. You would think the econ prof would know how to read a cash flow summary. The 11.3 billion does not factor in GMAC, VEBA withdrawals, and one time charges. Just automotive. As for the latest financial numbers, GM has not released their revised data.

FOG - GO at it - I think it is called for in this case. I just can not resist. To Hudon's point, kudos. That was the first thing I did. Seems the old Doc, did not learn basic math on his way to his Ph.D. It is a shame the education system has come to that. Even if the Old Doc. was just looking at US production, it would have been only $2000/vehicle. I tried to link to Peter's resume, and it seems it is a dead link after a yahoo search. If there is anything of value embedded in the drivel, here it is: "GM needs a less expensive and more flexible labor contract, less overhead and red tape in marketing and design, brands realigned to attainable markets, and a CEO who can convince employees and consumers he is serious about making good cars. That’s tough because the United Autoworkers Union has blue collar workers believing management is bluffing, white employees are suspended in a Brigadoonean mentality, franchised dealers resist change like Soviet plant managers, and Rick Wagoner appears to lack the public confidence to speak to consumers effectively about his products. Turning GM around requires that its CEO be candid, take on vested interests with vigor, and think outside the box about labor contracts and organizational change." The rest of the words are a bunch of mis-facts, errors, opinion, rhetoric, propaganda – I did not have to guess who posted the article.
