  1. Do the math BM. GM as a manufacturer needs to control their variable cost. That is based upon volume not market share!
  2. IMO there is nothing compelling about the Cobalt besides the price. Recent TV ads show the Cobalt at $11k usd. Compared to the Civic that is a great deal. Car for car though, the Civic is the better vehicle all around. For a couple pennies more I would get the Mini over both. BUt that this is just me. There are too sides of this discussion, customer and investor. If I was a customer the Cobalt looks good on price with the rebates. As an investor, Honda looks compelling because they can charge a preminum at a higher volume

True - Or get me to put one in my gargage.
  4. How does anyone compare June 05 to June 06 without the qualifier: June 05 sales were up over 40% (46.9%) compared to the same period the prior year. And that is not an excuse but a FACT. BW you are full of crap and spin again.

Oh Toyota has it even better. They get 400k real people, spending real money a year on Camrys. Consistenly - year - after year - after year! Now that is enthusiasm and loyalty for a brand. GM could only wish they had real enthusiasm for any of their brands like that.

Hey BM - More cut and run? Going to answer the question? I saw you lurking earlier. BM - Releasing more hot air than a recent patron to Taco Bell.
  8. Would you want this guy working for you? http://www.autolinedetroit.tv/autoline/archives_2005.php 922 7/10/05 Segment 1: Journalists discuss the impact of employee discount programs Panel: John McElroy, Host, Autoline Detroit Drew Winter, Wards AutoWorld Carol Cain, Detroit Free Press Segment 2: Jim Dollinger, undoubtedly the best salesman GM ever had, explains his 50-point program for turning GM around! 9. When the BM met with LaNeve, LaNeve just took over the VP job. Forgetting about what we know of the BM and his personality today, I ask the question, would you or I if in LaNeve's shoes turned down a meeting to "brain storm" with a top salesman on the retail level? Without hindsight I would have met with him. Out of courtesy if nothing else. After reading the plan and seeing what he is like in person, would I have hired him as a consultant? No way. The BM is not a team player. On top of that, when BM met with LaNeve, GM had yet to loose money or give an indication publically that there was a major costly restructuring on the horizon. This was not about Red Ink, or Rabid Rick at the time. It could not have been because at the time, the status quo was happeing at GM. It was not until the BM got the bad news that his services will not be needed, that he became venomous publically. In a nut shell (no pun intended) his ego was hurt!

But know as well as I that enthusiasts will not and can not support and make a viable Camaro program alone, it has to move into the mainstream. Enthusiasts give themselves too much credit.
  11. Oh yes - sort of like George H. W. Bush's 1000 Points of Light. You missed all the fun last year as the BM tried to keep his 20 Pts hidden from the public boards. Well since I got them from private channels other than the BM himself I posted them. I left it stating I will comment on them in 6 months and see what other OEM used those brillant marketing ideas. 6 months came and went. To my surprise, not one OEM. Again another 6 months have passed and still not one OEM has used the BMs Return to Greatness. I just wonder why!
  12. After one look at your plan - no doubt they did. Especially in hindsight of your childish behavior.
  13. No need to: LaNeve laughed at him. Wagoner laughed at him. That is all that counts.
  14. I am sure you can find one in a used car lot and of course there is aftermarket.
  15. Car for car there is nothing in common. A GTO I would consider driving a TA no way in hell. But I do agree with someone that posted earlier, the GTO does appeal to the V8 TA void in the portfolio. Before the demise of the TA - sales were only about 30k a year.
  16. Cut and run - that is the BMs MO when his flawed arguments are questioned. I see the articles appeal to the BM.
  17. Hint: There is a difference in a live axle 1982 derived design vs. an independently suspended tweaked Opel Omega last redesigned in the early 1990s with a very modern LS motor. This is difference between driving a new car based upon an older design than one that is literally old.
  18. No the Cobalt reveived an Acceptable from the IIHS when equipped with side curtain bags. And just like the Corolla received a poor when not equipped.

  20. Yes it is costly but necessary in todays auto business climate. What do you recommend BM, a strike? http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/27/automobi...gin&oref=slogin

History has shown that most polls for market research are full of bad data. People say a lot when they are playing in theoretical money. I would also keep in mind that it was that lack of Camaro enthusiast that killed the car in 2003. If that were not the case - we would not be awaiting the Return of the Camaro.
  22. It is also a lot more complicated than that. There is a service department? There is the used car department? There is undercoating, lo-jack, extended warranty, etc. A dealership is a lot more than just selling new cars.
  23. As of yesterday GM was valued at 15+ billion. What was GM trading out in 1992? Your simpleton analysis ignores a lot the real issues. Like what really drove the stock price in 2000 and 2001. DCX lost half their value in the same time. F was trading at $30 and today $6 or $7.
  24. You use the words IN FACT, but you have never used a fact in any of your posts. Spin maybe. How does this analyst differ from the buy recommendation 2 weeks ago that sent the stock price up. You are a neophyte as an automotive prophet. The author of that article used the language, GM is at their product peak. That is bunk. How can that be when the companies most important NA program has not even been released yet? The 900 PUs. And yes, GM still has to pay for the buy out of the UAW GM/Delphi staff. So there will be a bad quarter or two coming depending on when they account for the charge against earning to pay for it. It appears this quarter will be it. http://detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A.../606270365/1148 As usual your posts are full of crap and lack of any insight.
