  1. We may not get a winner, apparently the microfilm is gone, the case that contained it was found inside the car and the case was rusted through. The Belvedere is at the Tulsa car show right now,
  2. At least do the whole bumper!
  3. oklatravel.net will be showing more of the unveiling from last night, and maybe different angles, it starts a 10 am EST....so in about 30 minutes. I don't know if there is going to coverage of today's events
  4. Hey Raven did you see the new pics, and that shot of the bumper? look at the chrome!
  5. Cool 68...but no love for us here holding down the fort at C&G
  6. Glad you guys didn't die! how was the trip, and what was it like seeing the Plymouth? And are you guys on your way home yet?
  7. Th frame is probably a lost cause due to being under water more than the rest of the car...the rear seat is totally gone, only the springs remain, which is odd considering the front seat is intact mostly. It also seems that they broke the vent windows as they seme to be missing now...as well as the door lever on the passenger door, perhaps trying to open it from the inside and the handle broke off
  8. New clearer pics of both the time capsule contents and many shots of the Plymouth click Have faith look at this chrome!
  9. I am too...it seems to me that the majority of the look of the car is due to mud and sediment from the disolved cosmoline and other protective layers. It took them literally about 5 seconds to wipe off that chrome on the front bumper...and bring up the original shine. The interior is toast, but I think the exterior has a shot. It may even have most of it's paint still.
  10. Well after studying all of the pictures I've been able to see so far I finally found a spot of rust through on the car, and its pretty small all things considered...look to the lower left hand corner of the wheel well in this pic. Edit: on second thought it may not even be a rust hole, these cars had a chrome molding in that spot on Belvedere models, that could be the lip of that moldings outline. Here is a pic to show you the molding.
  11. The winner will be announced next week on the 22nd I think, they need time to review the population guesses and contact the winner or next of kin.
  12. I agree and I think they will clean it up as much as possible...but they won't restore it.
  13. Coddington said they are going to leave it as is. Watch the video.
  14. Picture the Titanic wreck...just with 50 less years of rust and crud
  15. For anyone that missed the show tonight, it will be shown again tomorrow @ 9 AM Central time, oklatravel.net
  16. Journey is a joke imo...sorry
  17. No pics yet, my stream was not good for captures
  18. It's better than DCX....Mopar that is.
  19. I love the bumpers on these cars especially with the optional wings... here is a base model '57 Plaza rat rod.
  20. I thought it was welded shut...oh well anyway here is a nice Belvedere to enjoy....it is one of my favorite examples of 50's fins.
  21. Maybe, my stream was very $h!ty....I'm sure there is rust through in some places, I just couldn't make out any from the stream. ALthough these cars are famous for losing their trunks and floorboards to rust.
  22. The body yes, but the interior probably not. If the glove box falling to the floor is any indication, the materials used on a car's interior cannot withstand 50 years of being submerged.
  23. Considering it is a known fact these cars began rusting when new the fact that this thing has been in water for fifty years and is still in one piece and actually dosen't appear to have any rust through is a miracle.
  24. And how about those fifty year old tires holding air
  25. Yes, but on the unearthing broadcast today they mentioned the vault being welded shut.
