  1. Well it arrived this afternoon around 4 PM, and I'm currently charging the wireless remote. But just my luck, right out of the box there is a problem. The GPS unit is designed to plug into your USB port and download any updates to the database for red light cameras, dangerous intersections, speed traps etc. You're supposed to download and install the software from Cobra once you register the GPS unit with it's serial number. Ok did that, download the software only to find out it would seem its for Windows XP or Vista, I have Windows 7, so I try to run it in in XP mode to no avail, same for Vista mode. When I click the desktop icon the window flashes briefly as if the program is going to launch and then nothing happens. So I then try to connect the GPS unit to the computer thinking that may have something to do with it, and I get an error saying the driver installation failed for the USB device. I troubleshoot and try the suggestion fix to no avail Guess I'm going to have to contact Cobra first thing tomorrow and find out what the hell is wrong with it. This feature is the reason I bought this model in the first place. I'm hoping the unit itself will function properly, I'm going to head out to the car and install it and go for a drive as soon as it's charged.
  2. Do any of you guys and gals own/use a radar detector? I just decided to treat myself to a late xmas gift and got this I found it on sale on another site for $279 with free shipping, so thats a savings of $190. According to tracking it should arrive today and I'm pretty excited about it. I'm not as much of a speeder as I used to be, but still having peace of mind when I do decide to cruise at 80 on the highway is always nice
  3. Christine, obviously...but beyond that association the '58 Plymouth IMO was just perfection, perfect fins, sexy lines and hardtop greenhouse, tasteful use of chrome, and who can argue with a 350 V8 in the low price field as an option
  4. +1 on the '56 Roadmaster
  5. Oddly enough I'm not really a fan of Tri-Five Chevy's, my 50's dream car list is mostly Mopars. '55-58 Chrysler 300, '58 Plymouth Belvedere Sport hardtop or Fury with a Golden Commando 350, '59 Plymouth Fury. I'd also like a Hudson Hornet, a '59 Buick and possibly a '59 Impala.
  6. ...especially now with Pontiac's demise.
  7. Also not just the GN's but RWD G bodies in general are becoming sort of classics, especially Monte Carlo SS' and the Aero coupes. Hell even K cars are beginning to develop a following.
  8. That's true, however the same could be said at the beginning of this decade about 80's cars, and yet now 3rd gen F bodies and Grand Nationals etc are considered classics ( more so the GN's) I can see the first gen Viper's, Prowlers, C5's and such becoming collectors items in the near future.
  9. It is a sad reality that we unfortunately have to live with. Even cars such as my Riviera are becoming harder and harder to find in good to pristine condition, and these are only 15 years old at the most currently. People today aside from us gearheads just dont value their cars as much as I would imagine people did 30, 40 years ago. Why take care of your car and baby it today when tomorrow you're just gonna trade it in for the next big thing. The only way I can see this trend changing is with the advent of green cars becoming more common, such as the Volt. While nifty and indeed an engineering marvel, I think people like us, meaning the enthusiasts will see the changing of the guard and will hopefully be able to save more of these future classics, trying to hold on to whats left of cars as we know them.
  10. I would hazard a guess that cars such as the GTO and G8 GXP among others will probably be abused in the long run and may not fair so well. On the other hand you might be able to find a mint Aztek in 20 years
  11. That would be my pick of the litter
  12. Oh yeah, there's also these as well Click Click
  13. When I saw this, I instantly thought of you Camino. It is pricey, but boy is it sharp looking for the age. Click
  14. Well in my Riviera I have a Series I Supercharged and I get horrible gas mileage, usually between 15-20 MPG in mixed driving and thats even after a engine and tranny rebuild. Not I don't drive it like I stole it either.
  15. Creed- My own Prison
