The interior is pretty bad and outside is okay at least is has an optional big V6.
-
Even with that front wheels still tend to have more weight over them therefore better traction.
-
Nope the Benz GL got that one, sorry and the Aciada wasn't there to be test so the SUV went to the Pilot. The small SUV Rav-4 (ugh) not the Subie Forester and the Van well duh the Honda.

Actually my dad when he was alive until 95 would not buy the Cadillac Fleetwood for that reason, it was RWD. So he had a '89 and '92 Deville the one I had. Right now he would have a white-gold 2006/7 DTS Performance Pack in the driveway if he was around. He gave me great taste in cars. FWD vs. RWD here in the snow-belt makes a difference most people don't know/give a f*ck about what tq. steer is. The DTS just needs a 6spd auto and some interior refinemenets would be nice. It is my favorite current GM car. (Yes when asked if I could have one car it is a Cadillac DTS Performance in White-Gold. It has a lil bit of everything!) If you lived in Texas you might not care but in Iowa, and other mid-western states people care.

I am happy to report the winner of the pickup award in Car and Drivers 5 Best Trucks is the Silverado. Oh and yes it DID BEAT the Tundra! *So much for the four speed automatic!* Wahoo!
-
Like Fly said FWD still makes sense for people who don't want a BMW. A FWD DTS/Lucerne is still needed because sales speak. A new FWD (large platform off of Lambada maybe? *AWD*) Might be a good idea, there is STILL A HUGE MARKET for these things, $h! it was Caddys best selling model. You don't throw away what sells. That is stupid and DUMB-A$$ marketing.

All Toyota is doing is talking. Talk. Talk. Talk. Is something anyone can do it is easy. Following through on the other hand isn't... Toyota said they would overtake GM in 2006 didn't happen now did it? Anyone here think they will do it in 2007? With the new products GM has coming out I doubt it. Now the only thing that worries me is the Tundra and Camry. $h! the Camry's interior doesn't even fit together and parts fall off like C&D said in there test drive. Giving the Toyota 5th BEHIND the Saturn Aura... HAHAHA, we all know C&D are forigen car humpers, right? So much for Toyota moving foward. Maybe one step foward and 2 steps back. Lets hope Toyota gets... Well...
-
Yeah Toyota still takes the crown! It is a big recall but it is NOT a huge deal.
-
You could have gotten the must more affordable gas savvy SLE in 2005 with the same styling... There all over used with low miles or higher if you wish. And pricing ranges...
-
I agree there is room for the DTS in the line-up. Keep it FWD you risk pissing off to many VERY loyal customers. Just give us a new FWD platform and a 6spd auto and keep the N* around 300hp maybe a lil more and pricing down they will still sell. The idea of a FWD luxury car still has its appeal. Trust me.

Fact is that years and years ago people were treated very poorly at there jobs and not paid hardly anything. Right? The idea behind the Union is good, but seriously you can take a good idea and take it WAY to far. In this day and age Unions aren't needed like they were 50 years ago or more. The UAW is a group of people that keep "raping" GM for everything they have. GM therefore needs workers to build cars so they agree to outragous pay increases to the employees. It is a total mess 50 year ago giving somebody a full retirement and paying them to not work was the norm. Now it is costing GM big time. The Union isn't helping GM only hendering there growth. I say get rid of the Union *don't care how hard* and pay a fair wage. I know that wouldn't be easy but then GM could put more money into product developement etc. The Union is not the only reason GM was down the $h!er it was GM failed to realize in the 70's and 80's that people wanted fuel efficent cars and taking a 455 big-block V8 and lowing the compression made no sence they need to downsize there motor and product. (After all a 455ci low or high compression is still a huge motor.) *(oh but it was great)* GM also cranked out many a car that was build together to fast and didn't take enough time nor testing for quality. All of this plus the sucess and quality of Toyota and Honda have put GM where they are today. Through the good and I bad I still buy GM, and vote for conservatives. That is just my way of life... Anymore the quality difference of GM and Toyota, there is none GM keeps uping the game and Toyota going down now they have met each other. As long as GM keeps going up then there fine. As long as they get out good products that people want and desire to drive, there fine. As long as GM keeps the Union under-control and pays fair wages for the work they do there fine. But without one part of that equation GM might not be fine, it all needs to pan out! Not just good products and Rick & Bob CAN'T save them alone... GO GET 'EM... Toyota just might get... You never know... Who would have thought the new Malibu would look that good or Buick to come out possibly the best looking luxury SUV ever the Enclave? Or Pontiac Solstice outselling Miata MX5 not to mention in GXP form handily out powering it. In this day and age anything is possible. At GM if there is a group of people that can keep this positive momentum going it is the current team... I am excited for what is in-store for GM in the next few years! Now how about that Buick GNX when they get building the GTO? I can hear a twin turbo 3.6L DOHC VVT direct injection V6 roaring right now backed to a 6L80E H-D with manumatic shift mode... Oh yeah and pearl black exterior with a ebony leather interior. I think offering it in white and silver would be nice also... Enough dreaming but uhh that would give the next US bound Skyline a run for its money. (So long as it is under 45Kish)

Great looking truck enjoy that Vortec power. Light the tires up for me once!
-
Well I would vote for a new FWD large car platform. For the DTS and Lucerne and 6spd autos.
-
There is still a large group of people buying these and like the current FWD setup. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
-
No they will NOT switch it to RWD. Trust me.
-
That is what I thought it would be too. That is about 2 or 3 more grand than I want to spend. Acutually I hope the Torrent GXP in FWD with no options is less than 30K.

Has the phase out of Oldsmobile changed your views of GM
gm4life replied to Brougham-Holiday's topic in Heritage Marques
I have always been a Cadillac guy to a lesser extent, but there is too much status associated with owning one. I could go out and buy a brand new Impala for $25,000 and nobody would blink, but spend the same amount on a used Caddy and even though it's used and didn't cost me any more, it will change the way people view me and my money situation. People would be asking themselves "where did he get that kind of money?". I think it would make it harder to convince my boss that I need a raise, or to get people to extend themselves with free or reduced offers because I'm young and "just starting out". I pretend to be way too poor for that. ^I totally agree and you wonder my why wonderful Cadillac SDV is gone? I would love a used DTS but won't get one as I am a teacher and they would wonder where they got that kind of money!. -
The Malibu should be a great car I hope it will!
-
My son will be going with some the 10th... Maybe me or my wife. (all happening weather depending)
-
I hate the current one and I will the next (prolly). If it is as ugly as the new Rav-4 then I will for sure. What is the point anymore the Rav-4 is bigger and has a V6 which were Highlander selling points... I do plan on going and will not waste my time on this $h!y thing. I plan to spend most of my time at GM then DCX and Ford...

Has the phase out of Oldsmobile changed your views of GM
gm4life replied to Brougham-Holiday's topic in Heritage Marques
I owned an Olds and side it was easy for me to say goodbye to a maroon on red velvet Delta 88 with 14inch wire wheel locking discs. (Even tho that Series I 3800 was a sweetheart in the tq. department.) I miss the good Olds like the Aurora and twin cam 3.5L and 4.0L motors and the up to snuff 2nd generation Aurora interior. Olds was always the test dumby first production navigation system? Olds guidestar system in the LSS (always like those newer design tho) and Aurora.) Given the current line-up I would have killed Buick and kept Olds. Look at what Buick had... Centry (ugly & underpowered) Regal (decent car much better looking than the Centry *at least you could get a GS supercharged*) Park Avenue even then it was getting outdated, LeSabre (good car even considering the time) and Rendvous (ugly and was on its way...). Olds had the Aurora (great car and two sweet motors) Intirgue (great motor *okay styling on outside pretty good on inside*) Alero (wonderful midsize car) Barvada (nice SUV for the time) and the minivan (who cares?) I guess it was sharp... They should have killed Buick... Then when I saw the LaCrosse I knew they should have killed Buick! Along came the Lucerne and I was glad Buick stayed alive, and the Enclave enforced that decesion! (The Velite or whatever also was helpful...) Olds will be missed... Vista Cruiser to Hoilday 88's it has been sad to see an excellent name die! GM has taken their website and designed it as a tribute to Olds and there inovations clearly they do not want Olds to be forgotten. Thank God for that. :AH-HA_wink: -
That is so good to hear. Those G-platforms make darn fine cars don't you think fly? Eat that Lexus. EDIT- When will it get the needed 6T80E HD tranny, with manual shift mode? That is all it needs then it is perfect!
-
Hell, order me a 2008 CTS in crimson red... That Benz in the front is sweet, side and interior suck. My friend has a C240 it is a $h!y car hell my 'crude' Bonneville with 1 less cog in the gear box and more weight out performs it. I was very underimpressed with his 38K Benz! I could have a loaded GXP for less (new at sticker) or an SLE with leather, xm radio, 6 disc changer and tape deck for less too. I was disapointed in the size to it was the size of my GRAND PRIX!

Tonawanda Gets $300 Million To Build GM's Newest Engine
gm4life replied to Derek77's topic in Powertrain
I think this is going to be another vartion of the Northstar. I think building them with displacement from 4.6L-5.4L would be wise and offer them if various hp levels. *Also for a FWD DTS and RWD CTS/STS* -
Market Watch! GM's Incentives Drop - Japan's Shoot Up
gm4life replied to big blue's topic in General Motors
It was not a demo vehicle trust me, you can tell by the abuse. (This thing was mint hell even the carpet was perfect and so was the exterior there were 3 marks on it I found was all!) This was driven by the second in command at the dealership. I am positive. Anyways I like to play the good ol' game. My son found the car for me on the internet and I said son that is way to much to pay. He then replied pardon this politically incorrect statement... 'Jew em'! (that is exactly what I did) ((I have nothing against Jewish people by the way and have the upmost respect for them.))
