Welcome to the B/D body brotherhood :AH-HA_wink:. I think it will serve you fine & the Auto Shop classes will help you alot. First things first Flush that Dexcool out of there, my water pump had only 1 impeller left when I pulled it & rust all in the thermostat also the engine oil cooler sprung a leak(what a mess 3qts make inside). Also when you change the waterpump always tune it up making sure to change the cap & rotor it's under the waterpump. You should get about 15-16 city & bout 25 hwy it does have 3.73's. Should be easy to roast those whitewalls so get it out of your system with those old tires :AH-HA_wink:. I would think that wouldn't even come to your mind but you have mentioned several times that it's a BEAST so enjoy those old tires. There are several forums to help I wish you the very best Enjoy Rick -
+ 1 / I would rather be in a car than a truck & Ford understands that. They are positioning themselves for the future when CAFE will kill manufacturers still pushing trucks, SUV's & CUV's.

I'm betting that the buy back is the sticking point with the German Gov. at this point as they have to approve the sale. They & GM could play ping pong with this till after the elections.
-
Ditto / I think you've got about 8 of us pegged on that Idea I still want a wagon with the Nomad features moldern is OK but retro would be better packaged thinking of the 64-65 Chevelle wagons.

What car isn't a sea of blk & or gray the only way to get out of that box is to spend maybe 25K then get the option of2-3K leather in brown or ivory.

You might be able to wait but I'll be 74 at that time Do you think we might be able to talk the Ozzies into letting Americans into the outback territories to be able buy Holden's I mean the way this country is going. But then again their Gov doesn't like guns
-
Should be moved to Holden as it is not Pontiac
-
Would love a wagon but they wont be Pontiacs nor 2009's therefore can't inport them for 25 yrs. laws are sooooo stupid

I still think that in the future GM will bring back limited runs of Old's and Pontiac as their fortunes return andthey buy thier Corp. back. :twocents: -

1.) If Holden does things like GMNA then the "bumper" is a plastic egg crate under the urathane facsa, but the DOT may be that anal to crash test a different face of urathane 2.) This Is the NEW GM so if they're that much faster & leaner while Bob's running marketing I stick to my guns 6mo.'s max. 3.) There's room at the top for a Caprice at Chevy and this isn't a volume car. GM can make money on Chevys or Pontiacs or Buicks 4.) Even if the Caprice is a re-badged G8 the public won't see it that way only enthusiasts will. Those people will still buy it as Chevys last RWD full sized car was 1996. 5.) They do offer the V6 also. 6.)Yes Announce it now by the time G8's are gone the caprice is readyand even if the car is the same it will attract a whole other line of prospective buyers. There are many baby boomers that remember hot Chevy's of the past or want a full sized Caprice.

We could have 6 yrs of Caprice's before they shut down and maybe mce also in that time frame. I don't get it how long do you need it to be built to be worthwhile? It's built as a Chevy for the mideast you put the US emissionsin it work with the Chevy/Holden/Pontiac/HSV interiors & we get a Caprice in like 3-6 months. If it makes $ for Holden it can make $ for GMNA also because development's paid for part of old GM's debt.

+ 1 Ditto

Yeah that's 1 way to weaken their core brand and find a way for GMC to be relevant while charging 10 - 15% more. Chevrolet like a rock Chevrolet we'll be there
-
Quite close in time frame but it was GM that designed the 8.2 L & the 60 series 4 stroke line. GM was needing cash AGAIN that's why they sold Detroit off and they weren't selling very many class 8's.
-
He a shrewd business man and has a lot of cash & friends in the auto field but does he have THAT much backing to open the plant make only the Sky AND be profitable? But hell he may sell GM a version or 2 Imay get that Nomad yet :AH-HA_wink:

Penske is making money so far both 1/4's and beating expectations by 100% but still not a lot of money not like a manufacturer and his stock is ranked as a neutral hold.

"The auto maker in the 1980s and 1990s sold Buick versions -the Skyhawk and Skylark - of the Chevrolet Cavalier economy car and only slightly higher-scale Pontiac Grand Am. The vehicles were discontinued due to low demand. In the 1980s, the compact Cadillac Cimarron bombed with critics and consumers." That was then This is now "The car will share some design and other elements of the Astra, which was popular with critics but snubbed by consumers, he said. It will be a four-door that shares a platform with the Astra and soon-to-launch Chevrolet Cruze." GM will do what they have done in the past expecting a different result (insanity). I still hear Fritz echoing "I am not a believer in re-branding and re-badging." that is only if it's a Buick in Chevy clothing not a Chevy in G8's clothing "GM initially conceived the Buick as a wagon to replace the Saturn Astra hatchback, which is being discontinued as GM sells the entire Saturn brand. But Lutz said GM concluded the wagons, however practical and attractive, won't win over U.S. consumers. "They just don't do well here" he said." So GM sells a CTS Sport Wagon instead. Now while I do love the Caddy it'll never be in my price range as a new car. Also while the exterior is to my taste I haven't liked their interiors. Now a Chevy wagon with the turbo Eccotech in the spirit of the Nomad Kappa I'll find the money somewhere somehow.

DETROIT -(Dow Jones)- General Motors Co. will mark its first serious foray into the U.S. premium compact-car segment early next decade when it launches a compact Buick, GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz said Friday. The move will be a virtually untested venture for Detroit, where small cars have long been synonymous with entry-level, lower-budget offerings. It is a sign of things to come for the U.S. auto industry as stricter fuel-economy regulations take hold and force car makers to turn out smaller, more fuel- efficient cars. GM has sold compact Buicks in the past, but not with the features, upscale design and higher price point planned for Buick, Lutz said. He said GM aims to avoid habits of the past with the new Buick. The auto maker in the 1980s and 1990s sold Buick versions -the Skyhawk and Skylark - of the Chevrolet Cavalier economy car and only slightly higher-scale Pontiac Grand Am. The vehicles were discontinued due to low demand. In the 1980s, the compact Cadillac Cimarron bombed with critics and consumers. Read article CNNMoney.com
