  1. In the XTS, it was detuned because the engine is turned 90 degrees and there is an exhaust restriction.... it's only 10 HP. The Halex system can send something like 90% of the torque to the rear if need be, so I doubt it has anything to do with torque steer. The CTS V-Sport is RWD only... though in the AWD models with lesser engines, it would be a different transmission and AWD system. Much appreciate the clarification Drew. Thank you
  2. ROYALS - Awesome job on doing this as a Cover!
  3. I thought the AWD system was the same between the CTS and XTS. Anyone know if this is true?
  4. You crack me up, I see plenty of BMW, MB, Acura, Infinity, Lexus and Cadillac CUV/SUV's. Maybe the ski resorts just deny Land Rover access.
  5. G. David Felt Alternative Fuels & Propulsion writer www.CheersandGears.com BMW Recalls 1.6 Million Auto's to replace Takata built Airbags! BMW has issued a recall affecting all 3-Series produced between May 1999 and August 2006. This recall is regionally requested by U.S. Safety Regulators. This is an extension of their 240,000 auto recall from 2013. The airbags were supplied by Japans Takata corporation and affect over 12 million auto's from word wide manufactures. BMW is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to these airbags. Full story reported here on MSN
  6. ABOUT TIME! They should be doing real world testing on all Auto's period. I bet we see a drastic drop in MPG for everyone as real world driving does not match computer generated perfect situations.
  7. Nice Write up. This makes me wonder if I can get the other coding of the chips so that I can gain back my HP and Torque in this car. That would be a great upgrade. Get the Full power of this via a chip tuner device.
  8. I see at the landrover dealership by my house they take people on their fake rock, wood and cement bump trail but that is the extent of ever seeing Land Rover any place other than in the city. You do not find them in the PNW 4x4 club that is for sure, but I see plenty of Tahoes, Suburbans, Especially Wranglers, trailblazers, Cherokees First generation. If it is body on frame, you find it on the mountain ski pass and off road clubs.
  9. WOW Thought you were joking till I read the press release! https://www.hyundaiusa.com/about-hyundai/news/Corporate_HYUNDAI_REVEALS_THE_WALKING_DEAD_SPECIAL_EDITION_TUCSON-20131120.aspx http://www.thewalkingdead.com/hyundai-reveals-the-walking-dead-special-edition-tucson/ http://www.edmunds.com/car-news/2014-hyundai-tucson-the-walking-dead-special-edition-starts-at-29775.html Too funny it has a cyclops Dash from what I see in this video.
  10. A V edition Escalade I would love. Just tighten up the suspension and tune it for throwing around 10K pounds of weight. I know it can be done as I did this with my 94 suburban that runs a 402 with 505hp 551lbs of Torque. It drive amazing. Would love the Escalade to have the Supercharged LT4 V8
  11. I have never considered Land Rover a true SUV since they left Body on Frame. I also never see them off road around here or even on the mountain passes at ski resorts. They seem to be stuck in Seattle and the suburbs and along the highway as I always see them broken down. So Landrover is CUV's to me also.
  12. All the flash, a decent rep and good warranty...but...you drive and if you appreciate cars in any way, or compare, you go..."but..." Hyundai and Toyota buyers are similar, once they are in, they are in and don't really care. Summed up perfect, these buyers could care less about the driving and only about point a to b transportation that is reliable and cheap.
  13. It is interesting but in Seattle, if you are rather tiny, then you tend to buy Asian auto's, Big American people tend to buy American or German. Yet the whole youth market who has money buys performance so you see plenty of AMG, M's, V's, Porcheses, etc. Old folks are the ones buying BMW, MB and Cadillac cars. Young affluent families are buying the CUV's and SUV's from the Luxury makers here as they live a far more active life style. Over all I think Cadillac is fine with the SRX and Escalade. If they feel they need something between these two fine, but I see no reason to take the Encore and rebadge it a luxury version. Waste of R&D money. Encore is perfect where it is in Buick. Those that are willing to spend money are going to buy Compact or bigger. Not Subcompact for Luxury.
  14. This should be interesting. I am excited to see the car and learn more about the engine family.
  15. The TTV6 while a great engineering engine and perfect for the cars, just does not sound or feel right for a big heavy SUV like the Escalade. I will stay with my V8 engines.
  16. Grand Cherokee has always been unibody. Now, unless we're going to retroactively add to the generally accepted crossover meaning of "an SUV built on a car platform with less SUV capability...." Showing my age as Jeep used to make true SUV's that were Body on Frame. With the Grand Cherokee, it became from the very first generation a CUV. I think the only SUV Jeep makes is the Wrangler now.
  17. I can see the Tubro V6 Diesel would be a smart move for the world market and the US. I see no real value gained with the twin turbo V6 gas engine in the Escalade. I also do not see any real fuel gain. Would be smarter to add cyclinder deactivation on the v8 for Highway cruising than to go with the over weight TT V6.
  18. Based on what I can find searching the internet, MB has only 2 SUV platforms. Their military version mad consumer overpriced dino G-Class and the 4 model family GLA, GLK, GL and M-class suv. How is this any different than Cadillac with their 2 SUV platforms? They have their Escalade, Escalade ESV and SRX. I expect a second model off the SRX line but with Buick, Cadillac does not need to have a model in compact, Mid class and Full size. More then enough with what they have. Mercedes does have 2 SUV platforms but they have more than 2 SUVs. The GLA is on the A-class platform, the GLK is built on the C-class platform. The ML and GL share a platform but in different size similar to ATS and CTS on Alpha, and the G-wagen is their 2nd SUV only platform. So 2 of Mercedes SUVs are built on car platforms. I'd like to see Cadillac build an SUV off Alpha, maybe to slot in between the SRX and Escalade and they can help them keep the price of the SRX down to keep it in the entry-lux suv sweet spot. So then you propose either a 3rd platform to add or move SRX to Alpha and build the SRX as the entry level and a new mid level CUV on alpha between SRX and Escalade. Right now MB and BMW have nothing that really competes against the Escalade. The G-Wagon is the closet body on frame that MB has but no one else out there makes a full size Luxury SUV today.
  19. Grand Cherokee is a CUV also now. Once they dropped the body on frame, they left the SUV and went to CUV with the Auto Unibody. I consider both the Grand Cherokee and Durango to be CUV's.
  20. Good to know, it was kinda white and just a puff of smoke but I just was not expecting to see it as I never saw it on other diesels.
  21. While the IDx is a cool concept, I see the hard time building a case for this car at such low production numbers. My question is the 50-60,000 units a year just what you see for the US or the global market?
  22. Awesome 40s style version of Womanizer
  23. Funny to hear this review of the I8 and it's technology to say "Just like the CHEVY VOLT!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=8x-9JVhE3wY
  24. GM's Video is freakin awesome as they talk about all the features and details. The new 2015 Z06 is equal to the old Z01 or so they say but the new supercharged v8 has no connection to the old LS9 Supercharged V8. So does this make this an LS10 engine?
  25. Cool for the investment and jobs this brings to America. Sad that based on the picture above, it looks like a raised version of the Ford Flex. A Station wagon on steroids. Makes me wonder if a renaissance of station wagons built as CUV's is upon us?
