"That's Not a Buick" Ad Campaign a Success?
G. David Felt replied to cp-the-nerd's topic in Industry News
I think I detect some sarcasm in that post. A Mercedes CLS 63 AMG is a 4-door coupe that I absolutely love. Me thinks a Riviera comeback should be a 4-door coupe that closely resembles that M-B CLS 63. Just as how personal coupe luxury cars took the scene by storm in the mid to late 1960s, so has the 4-door coupe in the 2000s....and I view millennial 4-door coupes as modern luxury personal coupes...so it would be befitting for a Riviera comeback to be a 4-door coupe. Id rather not talk about crossovers... I believe two things should happen, Buick should bring back a Riviera with the sexy v shaped real window. Modern take 1971 Sex on Wheels! GMC Needs to bring back a Proper Modern Typhoon and Syclone This would do wonders for both lines I believe. -
If it is, will it come with a disclamer that if your over 5'8" tall you will not fit? I cannot see a sub-compact or Compact that tall people can fit into that has 3 rows.

Any Thoughts on this 78 gmc 3/4 ton?
G. David Felt replied to Lost_In_Transmission's topic in GMC Trucks
Good question, are you looking just for a cheap truck to drive and use or to restore or what is your end goal? Autotrader no longer does 70's they start now at 1980 which had plenty of 3/4 trucks around the nation for sale. If you want a 70's age truck 3/4 ton then you have to look at autotrader classics web site. There were some good deals in California I noticed. http://www.autotraderclassics.com/find/vehicle/vehicleSearchResults.xhtml?conversationId=14559&firstRecord=1&numRecords=25&distance=0&address=98043&startYear=1970&endYear=1979&minPrice=&maxPrice=&make=GMC&model=C/K%202500&keywords=&sellerType=All&refined=true Since the plate is california I figure that is where you are located. Here is one located in LA for $2500, it is a 3/4 ton 1973 camper special with a little over 100K miles on it and much cleaner than the truck listed above. http://www.autotraderclassics.com/classic-car/1973-GMC-C*K+2500-1797830.xhtml?conversationId=14559 Since it has screw holes from bigger mirrors on the front quarter panels, rust all over, it would need a check out of the core frame to make sure it is still solid underneath. If so then you have a $1000 to $2000 value truck, if engine is not very good at running then you could be in the hundreds only. Check List Frame condition Power train condition Interior Cab condition Tires Brakes These would be the top 5 items I would suggest you check out before you buy. It would be worth it to pay a certified mechanic to check it out for you to make sure you know just what needs to be addressed. Good Luck. -
Should be interesting but then does that mean they kill the Trax? Does the Trax become the new SubCompact as the Nox becomes the compact?
-
Great write up, Love the Interior on the car as a commuter car or fun run about it would serve the purpose well. The exterior I know is now Iconic and most people know what it is, but I still have to say that this car is just a bland jelly bean design to me. Not sure why but over all the years the GTI is a sleeper car. Just wish it had more spunk in the design language.

Fiat News: Rumorpile: Fiat Spider To Have A Hot Abarth Edition
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
I know this should have minimal cost but I still see them wasting money when they need to focus on the existing quality of products they have that have serious issues like the transmissions, etc.- 15 replies

Fiat News: Rumorpile: Fiat Spider To Have A Hot Abarth Edition
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Fiat
While nothing wrong with performance versions and this sounds like a cool little car, I STRONGLY believe they are wasting money on this when so many other QUALITY issues exist in the over all company that should be addressed first and getting new models out to drive profits on existing lines before trying to expand FIAT.- 15 replies

Any tuners here? Looking for AFR advice.
G. David Felt replied to cp-the-nerd's topic in Tech Section
No real noticeable difference I think. Best thing would be to replace the OEM chip with a Jet Chip and their Tuner so you can run in OEM tune mode, go to fuel efficiency mode or to performance mode. I have to say that I really like the ability to self tune your auto with preset tunes or if you want to play with it tune yourself to get the type of idle and performance you like out of the engine. A Jet chip?! I thought those were garbage. They are constantly posting "25+ Horsepower! 5+ MPG!!" on their product listings. I took a 350 V8 and bored it out to a 402, hot cam, overall performance focused and with a jet chip it moves. I personally think JET chips work well. -

Awesome when you see baby boomers who love auto's and put the fake tuner auto's in their place. No matter if you come from Europe, Asia or America, Put a fart can on and a few hundred pounds of body mods does not make you a fast car. Some of my fondest memories was when my dad swapped out our 350 that was in our Delta 88 Station wagon for a 454. That station wagon was the ultimate sleeper that put many a tool to shame. Great story Drew.

Agree with Drew, Buick is in a solid safe spot. -
Nothing wrong with an Eisenhower Republican or even an independent social-capitalist. We have grown far beyond how this country started and to be great again, we need to change and grow our political system. Time for term limits on all offices be them federal, state, county or city. We also need to remove all pension funds of the political systems and roll them into Social Security and make it even for all. Roll back the tax on Social Security payouts and stop borrowing against social security. People need to realize it is a privilege to serve the country, state, county and cities they live in and not a career. Serve and then go back to your private life. All offices no matter where they are held should be a max of two terms of 4-yrs each. Focus on serving the people and return to the private life.

So history does seem to repeat itself and there are some clear signs that we could be headed towards a 3rd world war. Wonder how this will affect our drive of Oil / Petrol based auto's compared to CNG or Electric? Afterall the US has the worlds largest proven reserves of Natural Gas.

Way to go, I know it is hard but you will thank yourself down the road. Awesome Job.

This is exciting for Volvo, hopefully it will bring a better over all portfolio.

Very awesome picture indeed.

Very cool, I can say that I have had my SS north of triple digits many times and I believe the Highway top speed is a joke. I see a purpose for speed limits in residential and city streets but on the highway I think it should be wide open to get from Point A to B ASAP.

G. David Felt replied to cp-the-nerd's topic in Tech Section
I have used the superchip tuner on my suburban and it really rocks for solid performance. I have it tuned nicely on 87 and if needed added power can change it to premium tune and get more out of it. I like that I can change it on the fly when the tank is empty and then fill up with premium and go. I recommend using tuners to enhance the basic tune of an auto. -
Looking for my drive to work today, seems to have gone missing!
-
Side profile sucks, short nose and bed and huge crew cab just does not look right in it's proportions and as a Uni-body truck this is more inline with the old El Camino's than a real truck.

Brake Bleeding... theres got to be a better way.
G. David Felt replied to SAmadei's topic in Tech Section
Yea old days of add brake fluid and craw under and bleed and then add more brake fluid and move to the next wheel are really out of date now. Some pretty good brake bleeding products are out there now for DIY. http://www.brakebleeder.com/product-category/brake-bleeders/ http://www.summitracing.com/search/department/tools-shop-equipment/part-type/brake-bleeder-kits/?autoview=SKU Both these companies have a good assortment of systems for this. -
Hope they stick with this unit as they work out the bugs and make it very reliable why go to a new engine.
